Nikon D750 & D780

Well an interesting turn of developments. My mate's popped round and I've tried the Sigma on his D7000 with pretty much the same result, although slightly less AF tune needed. However, when it was tuned to the point the centre point was right all of a sudden the outer ones didn't work. He's brought my old 50mm f1.8 round and that's fine on all AF points regardless of needing +18 fine tune on mine, and I've just tried my 70-200mm f2.8 and all AF points are bang on every time (AF tune set to +12).

So whilst my camera does front focus it would appear the AF points work fine once tuned (should've really compared against the 70-200mm earlier  :$). For some reason my camera doesn't seem to like Sigma, that's two 70-200's and two 85mm's I've tried now. I only use my sigma macro lens with manual focus so never noticed an issue with that ;)

I'm going to send the 85mm back for an exchange and if that doesn't work I'm going to give up on Sigma I think and get the Nikon f1.8 (unless JJ would accept £600 for his f1.4 ) I may try the sigma art if and when it's released though.

Yes it has been in for the flare issue.
Get the 85 F1.8G and you won't regret. Buy it new or lightly used from the forums. They pop up every now and then and goes for £250 or thereabouts. It is my fav portrait lens.

@rookies, I don't think you've just got GAS - that'd make you want new kit regardless of your current setup. Instead, you're perpetually unsatisfied with what you do have.

Is it because you don't actually like photography? I don't think I've ever seen one of your pictures.
Or is it because you're frustrated that what you're producing doesn't meet your own high expectations?

If it is the latter and you've got some spare cash then spend it on training. It's easily the best value upgrades that I've shelled out for.

I've posted a few pictures on here

Am still a D750 owner at the moment guys the A7R2 deal went down the hole. Camera wasn't as mint as expected so not took it...

@juggler talks sense @rookies

Your pictures won't be any better with the A7R2, maybe take some time to understand composition and lighting (how to make the most of it) that'd improve your pictures.

Id kill for a 70-200 VRII so it's certainly not your kit that's the problem (as we all knew anyway)

I think it what people want on their camera.. I know the D750 does take stunning images and I have taken loads that I am well happy with..

But it the Live view, ibis,EVF and the peaking that making me want a sony again as those feature I did enjoy so might have to get a A7ii again PMSL

.... or any mirrorless camera made for the past 3-4 years.

Why do you need IBIS when you have VR lenses? I'll agree I do like EVF but there's trade offs to be had.

Go out with with your daughter to a nice open space at 7.30/8PM and think about how you use the light. Go take photographs and make memories. Looking back in ten years itll make no difference to what camera you had.

Ones that are just as big as his current lenses ;) FF means FF size lenses.

The Sony 55mm Ziess and the Kit Lens are lovely combine size with the sony..

As big as your Nikon with 50g. Your money mate. Go for it. DSLR and mirrorless setup is nice IF you stick with those lenses, go for fast zooms and primes and youre back at DSLR size though. Only way to get a more significant size reduction is to go for smaller sensor.

That sounds seriously sweet, but so gooooooood :D

There is a slight itch for a 35 or 50mm prime.

Those who got the Sigma 35 Art or Sigma 50 Art and had the Nikon 35 or 50 before, do you know shoot more with the 50 or you are more satisfied with the output if not shoot more?

35 art is a great lens, and for a one lump solution, it`s what I will carry around. I`ve always found 50 a bit of a love hate (gone through three of the Nikon buggers) focal length.

Yep that's what I'll do if the Siggy replacement behaves in a similar way. I do wonder why my camera does like siggies, I thought it might be because it's one of the first models but then it's had two firmware updates so should (in theory) behave the same as latter ones.

My only issue with going down the Nikon f1.8g route is that I fell in love with the rendering of the Sigma, as I said it's the closest I've seen to the Canon 135mm. Maybe I just need to focus/recompose everything just using centre point ;) (obviously kidding :p)

On a very slightly different note does everyone else find that default fine tune makes bigger changes than individual fine tune?

Just a curiosity thing ;)

1, 2, 5 for me and of course a passionate hobby that I would like to pursue and perhaps one day think of it as a profession.

Not too worried about gear at the moment. After the buying the D750, my itch to upgrade is gone and based on my current need, scope of shooting I am quite content with what I have. There is a slight itch for a 35 or 50mm prime.

I've had the nikon 35 and 50 f1.8's and now have the Siggy. TBH I've never really got on with primes but I've decided to give them another go. The step up in IQ is quite nice over using a zoom and it kinda makes you think about framing and composition more.

Roll on the 24.

After using several different lenses lately and going back to the 70-200 f2.8 VRII today it's really reminded me just how good the 70-200 is. AF speed is just ridiculous, as is accuracy. I wish every lens could be like this ;)

I hated the 50mm focal length until I got the 50 ART (was always a 35mm fan before), but now I can't get enough of it and I find it quite a nice balance between wide and tele as long as you've got room to move your feet.

Stop it! I need the 24-70 first.... It will be next though. Used to have the canon mk2 and that was equally as good.

I couldn't get on with the 35mm focal length (after buying/selling about 3), so stuck to 50, liked (but not loved) the images so gave the 35 another go and its my favourite go to focal length now.

I haven't had a Sigma lens since I had the 30mm f1.4 on my D60 which was fantastic! I may well try the Art 35mm at some point, as it just gets raved about so much!

Been going through my LR library this evening looking at all my images and I can't see any problem with them at all IQ wise. Just need to improve on some compose what ever we call it.. Soo you all could be right am being a prat thinking of changing just for EVF and live view.

Only time will tell lol

It does, shooting is effortless.

My wife has just came in through the door from the gym, off to help her out of those sweaty clothes;)
