Nikon D750 & D780

This photograph will win no awards or impress anyone :D but it's very special too me.

Got a bit of dust in my eye when I read this and saw the photo! Really nice capture in my opinion, despite the horrific circumstances hopefully it's one you'll treasure as a bit of a turning point towards recovery.

Your not the only one!

It is a lovely image love the smiles on your Daughter and Wife's faces, and the leading lines of the fence pull in in towards them too.

I hope your Daughter makes a speedy and full recovery.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments about my daughter,I am not one for posting much personal stuff online normally but we where really excited to see her out and about and enjoying a bit of normality.

Has anyone bought used from MPB and can comment on how accurate their descriptions are? When they say like new do they really mean it?

Can't answer that but oh no more gas?

Bought and sold with no issues! Pretty accurate as far as I have been concerened.

Like new 85mm f1.4D?
TBH I was looking at the Sigma as it's cheaper ;) I do love the creaminess of the Nikon d lens though, and it's 200g lighter. I don't really have that much money to spend, but i"m sure I could find something to sell ;)

It's hard.......if I had the offer of a 500 quid f1.4 I'd almost be tempted to chop in my beloved tamron 28-75[emoji33]

I keep looking at the f1.8 g again though!!

No no no, you really want the 1.4G...

Haven't used it for a while but took it to a friends over the weekend.

I've bought from them and they're pretty good. Don't forget to include the postage when budgeting. (y)
Thanks. Yeah that's another "dilemma", by the time you've added postage a near mint condition is only a fraction cheaper than new grey. I'm half tempted to get a slightly poorer condition one and save myself quite a bit of money, after all it's not a lens I can see myself using a lot.

I have one.... but not used it yet as camera is away :(
I don't think your camera's ever coming back so you may as well just sell the 85mm on to me ;)

Yep lots of times mate, and I can`t fault their service. My Tamron 15-30 which had a fault was dealt with rapidly. As for descriptions, yeah they are pretty accurate :)

Pom Pom at 20mm ... I`m lovin` this lens :D

So people. Fancying the sigma 150-600. Contemporary or sport?

Big difference in IQ? I know there's a big weight difference.

Not used either (have the Tammy instead) but spent endless hours looking into them and the consensus is that there's a difference, just not a big one. The C appears to be 95%+ as good.

The Tamron is probably my most used lens, certainly has been of late, and I certainly wouldn't want anything heavier for a day out at the zoo etc taking several hundred to a thousand hand held shots. With the S being 1kg heavier IIRC I'd imagine after a minute of holding it you'd be wanting to put it down/ let it rest on a strap. With the Tammy (which is the same weight as the C) I can hold it for a few minutes at a time if needs be.

The only thing putting me off the sport is the massive weight difference!

It's what swung it for me (plus the price difference helped), the S would be a lens you'd want a monopod/tripod imo if you were to use it for long periods. Of course, YMMV ;)

I had the C, was a nice lens. If i had the money i would buy the sport. Having said that, i'd also consider the Nikon.
General consensus suggests the Nikon isn't as sharp as the Tamron or Sigma at the long end, which is where you tend to use these lenses most. According to a number of reviews the Tamron is thought to be best at the long end, but even with this sharpness drops off over 550mm. That being said at 550mm it's still 50mm longer than the Nikon ;)

Yeah. I'd like to use it hand held occasionally too - trips out with the kids etc

But I'd want the better lens....but then it'd be a PITA if it's too heavy!!

So you're weak and need all the help you can get with length?

Or have i misunderstood?

And therein lies a common problem ;) I'd like a 600mm f4 that weighs 2kg and cost £1k ;) :p

Joking aside try the S out for yourself and see how you find the weight.

Lol, I could crush you with just my thumb :p

I bought the C a couple of weeks ago, so far cant see what an extra £500 would give me besides sore arms.

I'm on the verge of ordering the 'S' version myself, I spent (lost) days reading up on different versions and viewing loads of images.

Thought you'd ask that......lol. I believe the S version has slightly better iq, better build quality and generally has the edge over the C. I appreciate it's more money, they say it's heavier alright, but not bad enough to put you off buying one. You'll obviously get used to it....

Here's a link to many (many) S captures;
