Nikon D750 & D780

If I remember correctly, f2.8 with f2 rear defocus worked beautifully with the 105 DC. Helped with the CA too.

On another topic, any good D750 guides/resources to pass an hour or two? Kindle or online, ideally.

Yes reading this thread from the start could be quite a laugh, not sure TP comes in Kindle edition though :p

Thanks guys. Mainly interested in whether its worth using any of the fancy AF modes (particularly for weddings, I hear face tracking actually works) and getting the most out of the metering. From my initial tests highlight weighted is pretty impressive if you then pull back the shadows.

It took me ages to get the focus tuned in on my 135 DC.
But now it's set up, it is far and away my favourite lens.
By a long way.
It's razor sharp, focussing is not the quickest, but certainly fast enough for people pictures.
But the way it renders is beautiful.
There is a learning curve with it, but worth persevering with IMHO.
Enjoy your 135 !!

Chris, I have had a Fuji before but not with the lenses that I would like this time. I've thought long and hard about this because I love the D750 but I'm fundamentally lazy and the Fuji JPGs are better than the Nikon ones, not sure my limited post skills are getting the best out of my D750. Plus probably a bit of GAS and itching for a change ;)

Getting an X-T1 to go with my X-T10 and going to pair then with some good primes - 16/35/56 I think.

Agree with that 100%. We had similar heat in Pompeii, and Hurculaneum is more enjoyable I found. We stayed on the Nastro Azzuro so was close to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. We even went on a day trip to Capri.

Spent few house trying to choose between the 28mm and 35mm and here is this mornings outcome.

Both very similar is size and weight with the 28 being a tad longer and thicker. Both seem to produce excellent image quality and snappy to focus.

Focal length wise the difference is a step forward/backward.

28mm has nano coating, 35mm has ED glass.

Both built like most 1.8g series, nothing spectacular but solid enough! Both have some noises within the lenses - almost like slight element movement. Nothing major.

So nothing technical what so ever to the below shots - done on a timer, lens is same distance from camera both times.

Noted that both lenses have very close focus ability.

Images below show field of view and then 100% crop, 28mm first then 35mm.

Both 1/10 second, iso200, f1.8.

Hmm 28mm needs some micro adjust I'd say - front focusing slightly, I'd expect it to be sharper than that.
 
D750 performed admirably at another big event yesterday but I ended up with quite a nasty sore spot on my middle finger from the grip.... I blame the weight of the 24-70 :D

Was on table on timer lol

Tried again and think it was more equal. Could have been bit of movement or light change from me standing up.
