Nikon D750 & D780

Have a full day planned tomorrow, can't wait to give the D750 a good workout now it's finally back. 3am start for some Peak District inversion awesomeness then a full day of historic racing at Donington. Sweeeeet! First time out with the TC as well so I will see if I like it or not. It could be for sale on Sunday!
Look forward to seeing the results, David. Very jealous.

I'm being dragged to IKEA to go high-chair shopping. :(

I found I preferred a 70-200, you really don't need longer than 200mm as the Puffins are so close, at times within the minimum focus of the lens! All of the images above were taken at a distance of 2m and only at 120mm, 155mm and 200mm on the D750. This year I'm going light, I'm only taking a 24-120 and a 70-200 with a 1.4TC. The extras this year will be filters as they were something I missed taking last year, there are some great cliffs/rocks around. The only reason to take a long lens is for the Little Owls but I found whilst it was great to see them the photographic opportunities really are the Puffins.

Are you staying or a day trip?[/QUOTE

Thanks for that Rob. if I go I will just take my D750 , 24-120, and my 80-200..just a day trip,. im only about 1hr away.

I'm going to miss the inversion again as I'm working :( Hopefully I'll get to shoot one one day.

Wrap up warm, it's chuffin freezing up here.

TC?

Ahh duh .... 1.4 or 7, David? I had a 1.4 on the 300 f4 and it worked really well. I was just too shakey ;)

Shorts and flip flops not a good idea then?

Saw a video on fb earlier on of it hammering it down with snow at Mam Tor so hopefully it will hang around.

Trust me there not much left as just looked out my window

Been out tonight with a friend who shoots C**** and has the Sigma 35 1.4 art. Made me sad and started me thinking about d750 :o

Must avoid the GAS

While reading on Samyang 135 F2, came across this list at DXO - essentially how they have ranked prime lenses on a D810 (would be similar on D750 I guess in terms of ranking if not the scoring. Never saw this before and some interesting results. The 50 F1.8G is at the bottom. Well, these are just tech results and not a measure of actual rendering of images.

My 50G isn't the sharpest tool in the bag, I tend to use it 2.2 upwards but more around 2.8, but it's so small and compact that's it's handy to have and I quite like the in between FL for general family snapping. The DC Nikon lenses are in desperate need of an update, really would like a 135 when someone finally brings one to market. Manual focus is not going to do for me so the Samyang is out.

The result of the Nikon 35 is surprising, I find mine superb in real life shooting, and again, the rendering is great. I wouldn't say my 85 1.4 is that much sharper.

And a set of lens covers!

I have some of those for my tammy ... Don`t use them that much tbh. Nice to look at, but a red parka doesn`t really go with a cammo lens ;)

I ordered them more to protect the lens than anything, might just put them on with the black side out.

I must admit, they`re great for protecting the lens from twig scratches etc. My gripe, was that the bit for the lens hood kept slipping down just enough to block the lock. So I had to keep shifting it.

I like that shot Paul, well seen, and well captured, with a good bit of mono PP.(y)

George.

Thank you George
Are you coming next week, mate?

It's very unlikely Paul, at the moment I am so very busy, If I get the chance even to drop in and say hello then I will as I'd like very much to meet you guys. Business wise we will have a couple of togs there on the Sunday for the main event.(y)

George.

Interesting how the sigma 85 lagged behind the samyang 85 f1.4.

Well I'm cream crackered! I have to say that the 5d3 is REALLY well made. Considering i broke my D750 with a duster my mates 5d3 survived a big drop off the edge of Winnats Pass this morning attatched to a tripod with a Zeiss 21mm on the front. Not just a little drop, probably 100ft hotshoe first... Unbelievable.

I can't say Donington has installed me with confidence to want to drive all the way to Brands Hatch atm. Meh.

I guess you be moving ship then lol

Well I've just sent mine back to Nikon as its part of the second half of the recall due to the possible shutter problem. I was getting "twitchy" as I'm due to go to Scotland at the end of May and obviously didn't want to be without it. So I rang Nikon and spoke to the repair centre before I'd even recieved the official email that enables you to send the camera in, I spoke to a very nice young lady who I have to say was very kind and I explained the situation she kindly looked up when mine was due to be recalled she also reassured me that I didn't have anything to worry about with timings.
To be honest I am very impressed with how helpful Nikon have been and just can't wait to get my "baby" back and get out and about in the Cairngorms
