Nikon D750 & D780

My D7000 was pretty bad for that, flashing red, then dead pretty much instantly after that.

Not sure my D750 battery has ever got that low to be honest, I tend to carry spares with me and swap them before it's in the red.
 
I carry spares as well, but found it useful as it seems the warning comes with some juice left in it. Just wondering if it is my mind or is it universal with the new Nikon bodies
 
TBH I've never taken much notice of how many shots there's left after the warning comes on all I know is that I was surprised how many shots you get, which is a good thing :) TBH I've only let it run out once, normally I swap as soon as the warning comes on.
 
Well my a7ii being returned today they agreed to swap it either for another or should I come back to d750 with a new body hoping a good one??

Sensor been dreadful dirty as hell from day one been professionally cleaned twice lens never came off it when got cleaned

Why hoping a good one? Try one in store, you said you tried a good one previously and it confirmed everyones suspicions that yours was faulty.

That ok as like everyone said they reckon I had a duff one. And all pictures I've seen on here shows it.

The Sony is lovely but if it going keep getting dirty it not worth hassle.

It is because you have exported it with ProPhoto as your colour space/profile. Unless you view this on a device or in an app which respects colour spaces then it will appear washed out and generally 'orrid. Best bet ime/o when exporting for use/viewing on the web is to use sRGB as your colour space/profile as all devices/apps will show the image as intended.
 
Seem happier apart from the dirt. But like you all said and I've witness my d750 didn't perform as good as the one I had

I think all cameras are good and it is rather really difficult to get a bad camera these days.

Test, hold and see how it feels and take a decision. D750/A7II/5D MKIII or whatever. Pick a system and start building a min set of lenses and keep shooting. All cameras come with dust maintenance overhead and you need to just accept it. If you don't like cleaning, get it done for a fee or get it cleaned by Calumet for free on open days - they run such days 2-3 times a year. I take advantage of that as I am customer of theirs

Invest in good glass and don't worry too much on the body. If your A7II is dirty check the A7 forums here and elsewhere and see how people cope up with. If yours spitting too much dust and debris, get the body replaced, but changing to another system for dust is not the best idea if you already like the images taken with it.

I see a lot of people buy and replace camera bodies and systems like detergent powder.

The D750 is not the best camera in the world and the same can be said for any camera. The best camera is the one that someone like shooting with and produces images they are happy with.

What was the problem with your earlier D750?
 
@rookies do you have an example of how dirty the sensor is getting? I find the D750 needs cleaning more than any other camera I've had, although it only needs a good blow with the rocket blower (and occasionally a wipe with the sensorklear pen) every couple of months or so (unlike my Olly which has never needed cleaning).

I'm just concerned for you mate as you don't seem to be happy with anything and will be losing money swapping about. There was something you didn't like about the 5D3 and swapped to the D750. You were never happy with the controls of the D750 and then it appears there was a fault too so you swapped to the A7II which you were over the moon with until now. If you enjoy swapping and trying new cameras that's fine mate, but as I said I'm just concerned that you're chucking money away, possibly looking for something that doesn't exist? We're all still waiting for the perfect camera you know :p

Not sure what ProPhoto even is yet alone exported it with it! I upload from Elements 11. Checked my colour settings in Elements Organiser and it's set to "optimise screen" which should show on any device that uses sRGB colour space but this is obviously not enough/working.
I then went into Editor screen and selected an image went to Image>convert colour profile>convert to sRGB and then uploaded image to Flickr and then viewed on Ipad and all look good.
Still not sure why I am having to do this but a least it gets round the problem, just another step to remember though.

Lightroom, and I believe other Adobe softwares use the prophoto colourspace when working with RAW as this is one of the largest colour spaces, far bigger than sRGB and quite a bit bigger than adobe RGB, and so you're not losing colour data. Most consumer monitors can only display sRGB and this is the standard colour space for most things, including t'interweb and so to keep things universal it's a good idea to work in sRGB. Obviously this is preference and there are those folk with monitors that can display a wider colour gamut than sRGB and so choose to export in ProPhoto or Adobe sRGB. The trouble is that they may lead to mismatches online and such like. If you want to keep everything universal it's a good idea to shoot in sRGB and export in sRGB.

I don't know about elements but lightroom remembers your last export settings so once you've changed to sRGB you don't have to do it each time so it's not really another step to remember. And then of course there's your export presets that you can set too which are extremely useful. So when exporting in one click I can export in hi res high quality, or low res low quality for web etc etc. PSE may work differently to this though.

Thank you for giving such a detailed reply I'm slowly begining to understand some of this colour space stuff. If you hadn't already gathered I'm from an older generation, and only took up photography 2 years ago, and find some of the more technical stuff hard going.
Unfortunatey PSE doesn't seem to hold the changes and I will have to do it on an image by image basis but at least it solves the problem.
 
In for my ops tomorrow so thought I would leave you with a couple of bird photos as I won't be using the camera for a while. Also, I was due to send off my camera and lenses today for me to buy a D810, but was unwell over weekend to get boxes and check everything over, fate perhaps?

Liked the Blue Tit for the twisted neck, the Carrion Crow close up and personal and some bokeh for minnnt. Collared Dove for the hop it was doing.

Off to London in the may this year, first time I've been since I was about 12. Will have the whole crew so not sure how much photography I will get to do.
Will be taking the d750 and probably my 24-70, though I would prefer wider I think.
Will i get away without a tripod as i would rather not lug that around.

can anyone recommend good places to shoot as i have no idea about the city, we are staying northumberland ave so quite central i think?

How is it for walking about with expensive kit? I'm always a bit dubious when visiting a new city for the first time being a country boy.
