Nikon D750 & D780

Off to Dublin on Monday, for work, but will take the camera with me, not sure how much time I'll get to play with it though

Northumberland Ave is pretty central and only a very short walk down to the Embankment. Lots to shoot along the thames, walk up to Parliament Square and Big Ben or cross the river where you will find the Millennium Wheel. South Bank always good place and really comes
alive at night. Tripod not essential during day, although I would take one, but obviously essential at night which is my preferred time for London. Jump on Tube and within minutes you can be at Tower Bridge or St Pauls or wherever, really very easy.
You should be pretty safe as most places full of people, but I take normal precautions of just being aware what and who's around you and try to stay away from dark isolated places. I usually take my 24-120 and is wide enough for nearly all shots.

Anyone upgrade from a D700 to D750 - how was the transition? What's the usable ISO with the D750, I would happily use 6400 with my D700..

I went from d700 and d800, transition was easy, but I switch cameras a lot so its not a big thing. Then you will happily use 12800 with your D750.

I have.
Only had the 750 for a couple of weeks, and still have the 700, which is going no-where. It's a back-up for now.
The main difference is the ergonomics.
I use back button focus, and although the rear AEL button can be programmed as a rear af button, the placement is different.
Not bad, just different.
Obviously the buttons are different on the top too, but nothing which cannot be learned with a bit of practice! It's just learning a new muscle memory for certain adjustments.
The focussing is amazing though. This thing will focus in the dark I think !
As for the ISO, the difference is night and day ! Much cleaner files, even much higher than 6400, up to 12, 800 is still clean.
Having said that, I rarely (yet) have had the need to push it.
I'm still getting used to it though, so the transition is still ongoing. I had to add a grip, as the 750 felt too small for me personally.
Overall, a cracking piece of kit, which I'm looking forward to using more over the next few weeks.
If you get a chance, play with one for a while, and you'll feel the handling differences yourself.
As for the actual workings, (ISO, focusing, IQ etc, you will definitely be impressed!)

Your fine walking around with any type of gear. I was walking along the Southbank and also Westminster the other day and its full of tourists with some of the most expensive camera gear I've ever seen. Plenty of people just using tripods everywhere including the middle of the path and nobody said anything or was asked to move along.
 
I didn't ask if it works on my Sony I ask is it s good lens

As someone who walks across Westminster bridge regularly, I can confirm that people do this a LOT :mad::mad::mad:

It would help if you explained why you're asking :)

A day or two ago you were considering a Sony FE 70-200 f4, now you are asking about a Nikon 80-400mm. We might be forgiven for being a bit confused!
 
Am asking see if they any good. Along with tamron and sigma 150-600 it for zoo outing

Bit overkill buying a £1800 lens for one outing, maybe try renting one if it's just for one occasion
 
Well I was originally looking at Nikon 70-200 2.8 Vr II that would be used for alsorts. But is the reach there for zoo

Couple of very nice images Andy, with good composition, spot on exposure giving shadow & highlight detail, and some lovely colour and reflections.(y)
