Nikon D750 & D780

Why is it that when I view this on my Mac it looks ok but on my iPad its all washed out with terrible colours? Noticed it the other day on another pic but thought it was a one off, not happened on photos
posted several weeks ago.

I know its been talked about but has anyone any experience with the new Nikon 24mm f1.8G? Found a few shots over at FredMiranda but I'm assuming its much like the other G primes

Maybe few user experiences because the Sigma 24mm Art is the same price?

Since Anibap posted his portrait photo using his Tamron 70-200 2.8 I keep trying this lens on portraits and really like some of the results.

This is a great pic. I love the light, colours, tone etc etc. I wish my pics looked like this.

That eye is pin sharp

No experience with it but I am also Loki g at ditching the zoom and 24 would pair nicely with the 58

Would be a nice pair!

Likely, I have noticed the Nikon price drop a little more recently, but yes probably exactly why.

Had the Tamron on my 5d3 and will be getting one for the d750 - pics like this remind me why I miss the combo!

These tamron seem to perform good. Are they on par with Nikon?

Great shot Andy. Good to see someone else here using the Tammy.

I saw some other comments regarding odd colours and I can tell this that it looks great on PC, but on my iPhone it looks greenish and colours are way off.

I think your default colour space (not on camera) is something else that is supported by most pc or macs, but on iphone it looks bad. I had this problem some time ago and changing the color space on my editing machine got rid of the problem.

99% yes. IQ is possibly a touch better just like the 24-70. Where it slips a bit is focus speed (hardly anything in it though) and they don't accept TC's. QC can be a little sketchy too aswell as reports of some being a little soft at 200mm. In the real world though there is probably nothing in it.

Thanks Anirban I'll see if I can work out how to change it, funny thing is I uploaded the same pic to Facebook and that looks ok on my Ipad.

Lovely shots Andy, I really need to start to learn how to use flash properly, I'm never really happy with what I produce. I take it this is off camera?

Mint you seam to be the Tamron knowledge man about the forum. do you have any advice or resources you could point me towards for there range of lenses. As much as I keep adapting my budget it won't stretch for some of the Nikon glass, but I'm seeing images shot with the Tamron's and there just as good if not better. There just not a lens I've had any experience with at all but I'd like to know more about them.

I wouldn't go that far mate! There is plenty of info knocking around about them. Their version of the so called 'Holy Trinity' of lenses is very well regarded. The new 15-30 gets great reviews as does the 24-70 and 70-200. Getting a good one can be a little more challenging, but there are rogue lenses out there from every manufacturer. Their new range of primes seem to be quite nice to.

Speedlight in a soft box to her right, reflector to the left. The flash is almost alongside her, pointing past her face so it's just the light from the edge of the soft box hitting her. Fill could be better, I need a grip to hold the reflector.

Cheers mate. Im at the annoying point of just simply wanting to get best images I can and Im about to invest in glass and want to do it wisely. Theres just so much choice these days and third party manufactures are creating some amazing bits of kit. I think I'l try and focus on a travel zoom and research the rest later in the year. Now I'm off to harvest a kidney for a Nikon 24-70 F2.8

TBH I'd disagree that the Tamron 70-200mm is better IQ wise, from my research the Nikon (VRII) is sharper wide open at both ends in the centre, which for me is where I want the sharpness in a lens like this. The Tamron is probably sharper at the edges at 200mm. Of course, with such small differences in sharpness the tog will have more of an influence in sharpness anyway ;) IMO the Nikon has better micro contrast and OF areas. The latter of course is personal, and only the individual can decide whether the difference is worth the extra cost of the Nikon. The Tamron is mighty fine though.

Interesting to hear how everyone shoots. One thing I have never used ever exposure lock. Have never understood why you would use it, I'd switch to manual in the situation I guess most would use....

My general shooting scenarios are:

Outdoor fast moving (weddings, kids, events etc): Aperture; matrix metering @ -0.6; auto WB; auto ISO (max 12,800 / min 1/80); AFC D9

Landscape = Manual; auto WB; Matrix & spot metering; AFS S & LV

Indoor / constant light situations: Manual; spot metering; custom WB; AFS S

Flash: Manual; custom WB (usually); AFS S

Andy, this is how it appears on my iPhone, but looks great on my PC/Laptop.

Wouldn't call the 24-70 a travel zoom!

OK so I'm now sold on the Peak Design Slide and prefer it to the BR sport. I'm glad I tired it again now. I tried it with the 70-200mm f2.8 today and there's not a lot in it comfort wise (although the BR is still slightly better) but the lack of movement of the camera, and the ease of taking the strap on/off the camera are a god send. I could do with it being a couple of inches or so longer as it's not quite long enough for us giants, but I do like it a lot :)

If she'll stand still again I'll take another of her before she heads to bed :)

Well, that was painful. She doesn't stand still enough for F1.4! Even when she's "still" she's swaying back and forth lol
