Nikon D750 & D780

Well I've went the prime route I was considering before.... lets just say the lens is coming from Panamoz because its a heck of a lot cheaper than UK.....

Just need to decide what to do at the "wider" end.... I've got £400 credit sitting in WEX Account I need to do something with....

I can vouch for the 20mm g, I love it [emoji3]

Do any of you guys use the face detection via the viewfinder or always set your focus points for capturing people? Was reading up on the matrix metering exposing better if used. Been a bit rusty with the D750 as of late due to work and need to start using again!

I have stuck to 1 focus point or AFC-9 but always struggle when capturing a group of people so looking to investigate if face detection can help or will be a hindrance.

For the last 6 weeks solely used the Sony A5100 which got me lazy as had face detection and would fire a round of shots and get things but having the kit lens and knowing what the Nikon can produce going to challenge myself to get more with the Nikon.

Face detection is for exposure not focus isn't it?

AFAIK, well the way we use our camera (AFC, Single, A/S/M modes).

I 'think' actual face AF works in AF-F but you need it in LV. And it seems when its in AUTO mode will work through the OVF.

There's two types of face detection, one where you can set face detection with auto AF (which I don't use), and another for matrix metering which recognises if there's faces in the frame and biases metering accordingly, which I do use. One's called face priority and one's called face detection IIRC but I can't remember which is which ;)

That's it, I've had enough of all the banter in this thread !

It's decision time.

@GHP can't wait to see some pics from it and the 135. I thought you were set on the D810?

For my current needs, portraiture, bearing in mind I only ever print up to 20x16, the 750 won.
I still intend to get a D810 though, but that will be down the line when I start doing more landscapes (maybe?)
Having had another play with the 750, it grew on me.
Quite excited.
And I'm looking forward to pairing the 135 on it too !

Weird. Not had that issue. Speak to the supplier. I'm guessing you used the cleaning wipe before sticking.

Yep, followed the instructions to a T ...
I think I`ll do that. Its a bit of a pain when chimping ;)

It's hardly been on camera since I got the 35, it was just to see me through with a lens whilst I sold the 24-120, but it's staying!

Lovely. Will you stop taunting me with my old lightweight 50!!

Does this mean you're not totally sold on the 50 Art? Do like my little toy, for convenience. It's not the sharpest until around f2.8 though.....

On the flash front, I too really need to update my radio triggers and the yongnuo are the obvious choice. What are their speed lights like? Andy, how do you get on with yours? I have an SB-700 but could do with two beefier versions.

No, it's great, but I kind of miss the size/weight of the nikon. Mainly because I'm doing a 366 and the nikon teamed with the d750 is a good lightweight carry around!

Damn it, we missed the fanfare 37 messages ago [emoji16]

Crazy that 1 camera can generate this many posts, there are not many group of cameras with this many posts!

Nor with so many sub-topics! :P
