Nikon D750 & D780

Anirban, hard i know without a tripod, but if you could introduce some motion blur to the people, it would add another dimension.
Couldn't agree more with you David. I tried a few at lower shutter speed, but without tripod most turned out too blurry. I have a few where I managed to get some motion. will post those later.

Yeah i thought that would be the case. Would love to shoot this kind of stuff. I've seen some great ones with people blur.
Yes, and such images usually stand out.

In a bid to continue using the 750 aswell as the 800, I went for a walk with the 20mm 1.8 this evening, awesome sunset, makes you feel all warm even though I was so cold that my n**s cracked off [emoji38]

I love that, perfect [emoji3]

That a perfect picture pal. Did you use filters? Or fines some lovely processing [emoji106]

Thanks very much guys. Yes Rookies I used a 3 stop hard grad filter. Not a great deal of processing tbh, WB tweak and moved a few sliders in Lightroom. I did clone out a bit of flare caused by my cheap filter, and cloned a few dust spots out of the sky ;)

Nice. I don't think the rock on the right is adding anything though mate, myself.

Gregg, i reckon it'll be for sale soon...
Thanks. I did try moving it but it's been there a few thousand years and it's pretty stuck ;)

Joking aside there wasn't much I could do as I wanted the sun and puddle central. Besides I like it :p

Why f22 and iso 1100?
Went out without the tripod as wasn't planning on being out that late, and I wanted the sunburst effect hence the small aperture ;)

'there wasn't much i could do'

With a zoom lens that was set to its widest focal length...

I saw it was a nice sunset. The colour was perfect. Orangey/pinky hue. Shame there wasn't much detail in the sky for you.

F16 would be sharper and still gives a nice starburst. It would also lower your iso and give you a bit more IQ and DR.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Fab shot mate, well worth the effort.

Lovely set of images Gregg, with some really nice colours, good comp, and spot on exposure.(y)

George.

Zoom wouldn't have helped, wanted the puddle in shot and to get it I was laid on the floor with the camera over a 'step'. Using zoom would have meant either not having the puddle, or being 'above' the 'step'. I don't just randomly select a focal length and composition you know :p

Tried f16 and didn't give enough of the effect. Obviously ideally I wouldn't use high ISO for landscape but the shot and situation left me no option, and I'd rather get the shot than not. The beauty of these modern cameras means we can get away with these things with little noise and still a decent amount of DR. Probably still have more DR at that ISO than any Canon camera at base ISO <devil> ;)

There are some sweet images on that thread ... Glad it`s way outa my price bracket though.

On another note, I`m looking forward to getting my wide boy tomorrow :)

Wow, this looks like a fairy tale kingdom! How do you make the sun radiate like that? Is it due to filters or does the camera just naturally make it like that?
Thanks. It's done by using small apertures, f16-22 usually does it, works with street lights etc too. In this case f16 didn't quite have enough of the effect so stopped it down further to f22.

@minnnt just been reading through the thread again and hope it didn't come across as me being dismissive of your help and advice? Was a bit of banter on my behalf but I always appreciate feedback and advice, cheers (y)

Haha, I'm pretty easy going matey and don't take myself too seriously so no offence was taken mate.

Re all the lens quandary on my part, I'm gonna stick with what i have. Just a bout of GAS. :D

So I've spunked my money on a Dell 27" 1440p monitor instead.
How much is that Dell?

Mine's only 24" I think, but the Ultrasharps are great for the money!

I just bought a screw on 10 stop filter for my 24mm to play with.

Here's my first attempt at bracketing (handheld) with three shots and also first attempt in merging the images in LR (Merge HDR). I am re-learning LR after using CNX2 for 8 years.

The HDR merge option in LR is not bad, but I am not a HDR fan and not sure how to do a proper one.

I am not too happy with the processing and want to give it one more try. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated in using the bracketing and merging (or blending?) in LR. I should have used a slower shutter speed with a tripod. Will remember next time.

When do you usually use 3,5.7 and 9 shot bracketing?
