Nikon D750 & D780

I thought about joining in with the selfie sharing but thought it a bit cruel to inflict that on everyone
For the same reason, I prefer to stay behind the camera :D

Cheers David, I don't know now you've asked! I guess I thought it would be too heavy for Flickr, didn't want to sink an offshore server warehouse [emoji38]

Great, full size it is, and then how do people show photos here from Flickr using an iPad? I've done a search on the forum but I got bored looking [emoji106]
Someone posted to me how to do it i will see if i can find it

Couldnt find my original post from someone on here that showed me how but found this

Tap on the BBCode till you have a small area highlighted, now tap and hold the right bar ( the bar that is on the end and start of the highlighted text) and slowly track it down, out of the bbcode box. This should highlight the right part of the code, then move the left bar to the beginning of the code and then Copy. You may have to try 2-3 times, but it will work. If you don't see the "copy"option after you finally have all the bbcode selected, just start over.
!!!!!!!!Thank You FLICKR.!!!!!!!

Really? FFS.

Not used it much at weddings, as I've been leaning towards the 35mm. I think mainly because I've had the 35 for longer so am more comfortable with the focal length. But i've taken quite a few family pics with the 24 over the last few months and for my next wedding I'm thinking about shooting with the 24 on one body and the 58 on the other.

The 24 is really sharp. Focus was quite off though, mine's set to +16 to get it spot on. But if you have the Sigma dock, you can probably sort it out easier. Really close focus distance too.

I am going to attend the Tamron event at Park Cameras London this Thursday. Anyone else joining the event? Would be nice to catch-up. I am interested in the 35 1.8. DXO score is very impressive.

So I'm considering taking a punt on the Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART... I know @twist has owned one before, but has anyone else had any experience with one?

I have one, picked it up back in December so haven't had a chance to use it too much yet. Great lens though, renders colours superbly:

I bought the dock to sort it out properly, I think it ended up on +18 in camera.

I'm sure it's predominantly down to the skill levels you all have, but I'm looking at the pics in this thread, then looking at my d5500/d7100/xt10 budget and letting out some serious sighs.

Brilliant pics!

That's a very nice shot Anirban, good detail and lovely colours.(y)

George.

Thanks George. At times I think that a D810 might have helped to capture more detail and avoid loss of resolution with cropping. Having said that I am pretty impressed with the amount of detail I am getting from the D750. I am also seeing a difference between the D750 and D610. The D750 shots are appearing bit more detailed and the noise characteristics are slightly better than D610.

As for AF I have not missed a beat yet other than user error on the D750.

There's also a bigger convention starting this Fri in London for 3 days. I have registered for the trade show only with some demos and presentations. They also have day wise masterclasses at a fee.

Anyone here registered for this event? I am hoping Nikon will showcase the D500 and D5.

I think you'll be in luck with the D500 at least, as it is supposed to be shown in the UK for the first time there.

I wish I could get there to have a play with it. :(

Well I`ve just taken a punt on an old sigma 15-30 from MPB ... Should be interesting :D

Best to leave the credit card at home, me thinks ;)

Hahaha...no, I am done with lenses...almost....and for camera the D750 is more than what I need.
Here's my target lens setup -
  1. 24-85 VR (walkaround and gen purpose). Quite happy with it
  2. 85 F1.8G - for portraits, love it
  3. Samyang 14mm 2.8 - not sure about this one and have not used it yet
  4. 20/24/35 1.8 prime (only one of these) - Only lens I need to buy. Once I have sold the 70-200 F4 currently on classifieds, I will buy this one.
That's it. :D Keep it simple.

After Sunday I proves that I desperately need a walkabout lens for my D750. I'd love the 24-70mm f2.8 but it's way out of my budget any time soon, even second hand. I keep toying with a used Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 or used 24-120mm f4 but I'm struggling to even raise the funds for these. Your images with the 24-85mm have been mighty impressive, but I'm not sure whether it's too much of a sacrifice for me neither having the reach of the 24-120mm or the speed of the f2.8

Which one? The Nikon 24mm scores incredible on DXO (yeah, i know!) and the sample pics I've seen look really good with seemingly nice bokeh too!

I am leaning towards the 35 at the moment mainly for street and low light travel photography around city. It will be either the Nikon or Tamron with VC. But the 24mm is tempting as well. I think I need to try both and take a decision.

If you can , go for the Tamron 24-70 2.8. A faster aperture always helps. As for me I will always buy a lens with VC or VR for such walk around needs. The 24-85 VR helped me capture shots up to 1/4th of a second inside churches and dark interiors.

I might look at the Tamron someday, but extremely happy with the 24-85 VR and with the D750's high ISO, I am not feeling anything missing as of now.

I also thought of the Sigma 24-35 F2, but it does not have VC. The Tamron 15-30 2.8 is great, but too heavy and cannot accept filters. My humble 24-85 VR is serving me really well so far.

I do prefer the f2.8's, but I'm not sure if the 24-120mm would be more useful. Decisions decisions ;) It'll me a while before I save up anyway, so I'll have changed my mind 100 times before I buy one ;)

Yeah, these are always difficult choices. Sometimes reach is necessary and sometimes fast apertures and from experience bit of cropping is better than a noisy image

TBH a walkabout lens on the Nikon would always be for outdoors, so either good light or on a tripod so noise shouldn't be an issue. If I'm doing city breaks etc I have my Olly for that :)

The 24-120 is a really great range for landscapes.
TBH it wasn't a lens I'd considered, but I recently saw some really nice pics taken with the Canon 24-105mm f4 L on the 1DX and they looked really nice, plenty of pop etc and it got me wondering about the 24-120mm f4. If it has similar pop then it could be a lens I'd consider as I already know it's 'sharp enough'.

Didn't stop me selling it for the 24-70 though. Haha. :D
Well as I said, that's first choice but unrealistic for me unfortunately. There's always the lottery tomorrow
