No experience of the 1.4, but the 1.8 is a lovely lens. It's light, sharp and cheap!

That's a stellar landscape capture, like stunningly sharp, superb Sir...! Been doing my homework about which Nikkor wide-angle lens to buy and this has now quenched my search thirst, thank you.
When using 'VR' mode, how many stops can you get away with hand held etc..?

As others have said that's a picture for the wall. Apart from the rain Wales is not a bad place to live[emoji1]
 
A mate on another forum has just had total shutter failure,and it looks like its thrown small flecks of something all over the sensor,not come across this before so we are putting it down to one of those things that can happen to any manufactured product,any one else read anything,i think its about 6000 clicks.
 
I'm sure there was someone else on here who he had the same issue and the camera has been back with Nikon several times. Couldn't be bothered to go back thru the several thousand posts to find it!

Given the many thousands of D750s sold all over the world, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the odd failure.
I think there was another poster on here who had a shutter problem, but again, not something to be concerned about (unless it's your camera of course!)
Your mate should take it back to the shop, and try for a warranty replacement/fix.
 
Its reassuring when something like this happens and a google search returns nothing.

It is, given that a bad report always generates more noise than a good one.
I really think Nikon got it right with this release.

Chaps, would anyone mind sharing their Lightroom export settings for Flickr? I think I maybe downgrading my images too much [emoji3]

Great, full size it is, and then how do people show photos here from Flickr using an iPad? I've done a search on the forum but I got bored looking [emoji106]
 
I don't use Lightroom but I'll tell you what I do with images for web use...

Resize down to 1200x800px (or a variation thereof) and use the 'bicubic' setting in the drop down box. I also make sure that the three boxes for 'Scale Styles', 'Constrain Proportions' and 'Resample Image' are ticked. Since I usually add a border, I'll go to the 'canvas size' tab and add 50px to the sides of the image (unless I want something a bit bigger like in the image above). I'll save it as a JPEG then with the quality set to maximum.

Job done. :)

I use flick stackr as the Flickr app used to be pants, although is slightly better now.

I upload full size images to Flickr but hide full size from public viewing. When sharing the bbcode I use "medium 800 x 534".

There was a thread on this, copying the link is near impossible via the flickr website since it was upgraded. There is a paid app (flickr stacker) that you can copy the link from that's just a case of select all and copy. It's the only way I've found that works easily and without problems.

I export from Lightroom at 1024 max for flickr as it's only for web viewing. Posting images here is usually 500-800 depending on how many images I'm uploading in one post.

DPI has no relevance to digital images, so doesn't matter what you set that to.

Doesn't with digital no, but if someone tries to nick it to print then it does.

Anyway my point was for digital images I share at 2000px so it looks good on retina devices - anything lower and it really looks odd on iPads etc.

If someone nicks a 2000pixel wide file and prints it 10" wide, it's 200DPI, regardless of what you've set your DPI as on export, and it has no impact on filesize.
 
I upload a full res jpeg on Flickr and only allow to view at a reduced max resolution.
 
I usually just forget all about Flickr and then look at this thread while I'm at work and think "I should put more on my Flickr", then get home and forget again.

I should add more to my 58mm gallery to tempt @minnnt though :D
