Nikon D750 & D780

Well for once it seems we have a pretty good weekend ahead of us :D

Oh no .... I still have an itch for doing wide (and convinced madam that I`ll need a landscape lens for holiday in April :D), but am torn between an 18-35 and a 20mm 1.8 ... Grrrrrrr
Anyone had any experience with either or both?

Nope, but it's still damn good. The OS version is better still (although still not quite as good as the VRII) but more expensive. Tamron's is arguably the sharpest of the lot, but for me it doesn't quite render as nicely as the VRII.
Geez, so many versions. Well, I'll have to look into them all when I'm ready to buy one, which will be a while yet.

Told the husband I want a new lens for a Valentine's Day present and he said I just got a new camera and 3 lenses, I don't need anymore presents for a while! :cautious:

Haha that`ll teach you ;)
Keep an eye on MPB and WEX for used ones, and of course here.

This is also useful for real world, real people reviews too http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/

I have the 18-35mm and think it's excellent, detail and sharpness are great. For general landscape the 18-35mm is a better option for me, more flexibility and generally shoot f8-11 so don't need the wide aperture.

Thanks mate, appreciated. If and when I should get one, it`ll be for a combination of landscape (attempts), and architecture.

Hmmmm I think you`ve just cost me a few hondos ... Between the wife and bank manager, I reckon I`ll be singing soprano soon ...

Sweet set of images :)
Lol. Thanks :)

Great set of images again Toby, I like them all but the last one pushes all the right buttons for me.(y)

George.
Thank you kind sir :)

Thanks for that, link bookmarked.

Who would have thought my 300mm f4 lens would score higher than the 70-200 f2.8;) off to play on my own with the lens as I'm not in the 70-200 club.:D

I've been out with it today and have to say I'm actually impressed with the VR. My experience of Nikons VR has been that it is pretty poor but it would seem that their iteration of it in their higher class lenses is somewhat better! The missus still managed to take a blurry shot of me though.

Probably intentional....

You could always consider the old Tamron 19-35mm. There is also the Cosina and Vivitar versions but they rotate as they focus where as the Tamron doesn't.

Hundred notes.

Cheers mate, I`ll have a look into those.

Did two things tonight that I'd never done before with the D750... SHOT IN VIDEO MODE and USED A ZOOM LENS! A mate asked me to shoot his band. Video's a lot of fun but kills the battery. The 20min stipulation and lack of focus peaking ruins it a bit though. Its a very capable camera for video, though.
