I often used the 70-200 f4 with the TC-14EII and it was a great combination if 280mm f5.6 is ok. I was quite impressed with the performance with and without the 1.4tc. A couple of images are below (sadly not D750 images....is that allowed on here???Thanks Rob that's very helpful. Any experience of the f4 and TC?

I've gone with 24-120 and 70-200. I have a 16-35 but currently it's on the classifieds as I'm not using it enough but I do wonder if i will miss the UWA 16-23mm focal length. I need to get out doing landscapes more.
Haha quite the poser tooThanks Rob, much appreciated.
I see you've met Minnt before then (2nd pic).
It's a good landscape lens too, nice and sharp to zoom in on details in the landscape.Nice shots Rob. The 70-200- F4 is indeed a fantastic lens. Light sharp and works with TC. I don't have much interest in wildlife or long telephoto hence my mint almost new copy is for sale at the classifieds.
I do wonder if I'm going to regret it. I think I need a reason to keep it, perhaps I would be better off selling my macro lens instead. I rarely use it but I've sold it on before only to buy one back a year later!Yeah i saw. Just wondering if anyone would pay £300 for one of my kids to free up the extra cash i need...![]()
Has anyone used Focal software (lazy way of auto tuning lenses to body)?
I'm thinking about going for it.

All amazing, but love the squirrel pic. Still haven't seen a Red Squirrel yetI would love to try a 200 f2 but it's so big and heavy compared to a 70-200. The VR2 is affected by focus breathing and it was something I worried about when reading reviews. Over the years I've been lucky enough to own the 70-200 vr1, vr2 and f4 vr (all second hand), all are great lenses and perfectly good. If you read reviews then the vr1 is soft is the corners and has bad vignetting, vr2 badly focus breathes and the f4 vr is slower focus but quite sharp. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the 70-200's. I've settled on the vr2 as I found I need the f2.8 at times and I'm not so worried about focus breathing as as long as I can frame what I want it's not a problem. It's something you just work with what focal length you have.
All of these were taken with the vr1, vr2 and f4 vr (not all with the D750, though 2 out of 3 isn't bad!).

Very nice pics, the rhino really looks intent on getting closer to you. Not a bad ad for the 70-200

Cracking wide field shots. Are they cropped at all?
There's always a used Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 which can be found under £400I need to unsubscribe from this thread until I'm able to afford a 70-200, which will probably be years. (I need a macro lens first.) Thanks, all you trigger happy 70-200 peeps!![]()
Great. Maybe I can afford that in just one year. There's always a used Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 which can be found under £400![]()
Is it as good as Nikon?Nope, but it's still damn good. The OS version is better still (although still not quite as good as the VRII) but more expensive. Tamron's is arguably the sharpest of the lot, but for me it doesn't quite render as nicely as the VRII.Great. Maybe I can afford that in just one year.Is it as good as Nikon?
