Nikon D750 & D780

@minnnt , did you get any filter holder for the Samyang 14mm?

I finally got around to fitting my Peak Design Slide Sling Strap and happy with the purchase. The belt material is very sturdy and the quick removal of the strap is handy for when switching from photo to video mode on a monopod.

Well been playing with the new D750 and amazed at the focusing and ISO performance... 12000 ISO - its a new world :O yeah there is noise at 12000 but even then its not horrendous and the photo is unable
What body did you have before, John?

Just wanted to say hi here. I've been lurking in this thread for a week or so. Just got my D750. Enjoyed reading the posts about screen protectors. :ROFLMAO: Other than that, don't understand what you guys are talking about most of the time. :p

I haven't bought one yet. Decided to test it out before i bought one.

Yes, teacher, I did!

The eBay one had actually sold out by the time I clicked on the link. So I just bought one from Amazon. It was £2 more but I didn't want to wait!

I see the river's still up at Load Street.
Don't get home until 7 and weekends are spent decorating the new house so not been out with the camera for a while.

Yes it was starting to come over by the steps ( we kept an eye on t just in case)

First time I've been out this weekend with just doing some photography in mind for a long time. Off to the camera club tonight got to enter 3 images for the library exhibition in February (the one above is one off them)

Just looked at the website for the Camare Club.

I've been once but was the wrong time for me to join.

If I can get an evening off the decorating I'll try and come along.

Be good to get back into the hobby again.

Been a member for 3 years now and I enjoy it. Good mix of people and styles (lots of Fuji users...) Having said that I am currently looking at the X Pro 1 to replace my D7000 as a more lightweight system....

whats a good 35 or 50 prime to go for. I want something small and light. I had the 35mm sigma art and (apart from it needing stupid amounts of focus adjust) just found it too big and heavy. Ive the 24mm 2.8d which i find about the right size, i used to have the 50 1.8d on my old D800 which i found just ok, is there something small, lightweight and a bit better quality out there?

35/50 1.8 G?

Just before sundown today, got a flood warning message from the Environment Agency telling me to move my livestock to higher ground [emoji51]. As I don't have any livestock I popped down to the boat club instead [emoji38].

Thanks Peter, it's the 20mm 1.8g, and I'm liking it so far!

I have a Robin who nests in one of our trees and for the last year I have been trying to get him to land on one of my perches, the little s*** always goes on the ground for food, but today he surprised me and landed on a perch and I managed to grab a few shots. I thought they were usually timid birds, this ones not, he hates the site of the camera or me, probably the latter.:(

Shame it was raining, but managed to get some detail even shooting through the double glazed door.

Best capture on ground so far:

Well at least 3 in this club then, ordered D750 Sunday night and, according to UPS, should be delivered tomorrow
We could start our own D750 noob club and talk about things we do understand! Which is probably not much. Which would make it a rather useless club, I suppose. Ok nevermind...

You could discuss screen protectors.

Just a thought.

Anyone have any thoughts/experience of the original Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR?

Had one for ages, loved it. Only sold it as it didn`t get much use, and at the time needed to free up some cash. I used it on a D300. Some reports of vignetting wide open on FF though.

Vignette is a bit of a none issue really as with lens corrections in post it's an easy fix. And I'm also quite a fan of a little vignette. :D

Seen a few vids etc and focus looks good, anyone have any issues with it?

Just a thought David, It just seems a big jump on the long end from the Sigma @ 600mm to 200mm, especially on FF.... Is the focal length going to be long enough for you on your track days???

It's a good point Simon but i have decided to mainly concentrate on rallying so 'in theory' i should get more use out of the wider aperture over the focal length. I will still cover a few track events at circuits like Oulton Park as you can get quite close to the circuit but after attending the WRC, track stuff seems really unappealing and boring. I could try a TC if i ever feel the need.

Not sure if you have had a chance to check, but MPB have a good selection of longer faster lenses and they have a Tamron 70-200mm VC in stock for £579. Only problem with the Tamron I don't think you can use a TC though?? Also, they have a few Sigma 100-300mm F4 lenses which are supposed to be very good and a lens I have always fancied trying.

Edit: just seen you have bought a lens in the classifieds, enjoy your new toy.

Yes it was of interest to me too but luckily I'm not a fan of frame filling. It'll also come in handy for portraits too.

I'm also contemplating in my crazy mind selling the 14mm and getting a 50mm f1.4 just so i have a lightweight option.
