The MC means multi coated iirc and sometimes there will be a number after the MC eg mc7 the seven means their seven element and the mc4 is four element. You can sometimes find the mc7 on eBay from different manufacturers, eg Tokina, Teleplus etc.....I had the mc7 in Tokina but their all made by Kenko just different names.

As for iq you can't fault it, I was going to buy a150-600, but imo after owning one I think the prime is better.

Well, i chickened out. I looked at the Sigma 150-600 C and it can be had for £589. I know it probably won't match the IQ but the range is much more up my street and the OS would be nice. Still not certain though. Going to have a think about it and see if my 85mm sells. If not then i may just hang fire a little anyway.

I used to be indecisive but now i'm not so sure. :confused:

Is that used? Sounds a steal if not.
 
I used to have a 300mm f4 AF-S a few years back, it was a very good lens. AF was quite fast, it was sharp and took the nikon 1.4tc mk2 well. I unfortunately sold it after getting a 300 f2.8 as even though it was lighter it wouldn't get as much use and I couldn't justify two similar lenses. I used it on a d7000 and d7100 and I liked it a lot. The only downside of primes is the lack of zoom which I've found got so used to over the last few years.
 
That's my problem Rob. It's a big gap between 70mm and 300mm... And if i added a TC then i would be looking at F5.6 anyway. I was quite happy with my 150-500 on the D7100, so surely a newer version on a D750 should be even better?

These were taken with the Tamron 150-600mm (in poor light) and IQ is very similar to the Sigma C if this helps. (Better viewed on flickr as they get oversharpened on here)

Haven't used my tammy 150-600 much yet but initial view is that I'm impressed. Bought as a bit of a novelty for me but picked up for £670 from Amazon Germany so couldn't resist.

Cheers, it's a bit of everything tbh but brushes and radial filters are the ones that give the final look. I'm a bit late to the party for this style but I like it. All in LR, I don't/can't use PS!

Nice one David, this or the Tamron is on my shortlist for the air show season. Be interested to know if the Siggy is the one to go for.
 
Although i don't have one yet, i like the idea of the dock and also the panning OS which may come in handy for 1/4 second pans. Also has some customisable options but I'm not sure what they are really. We'll see i guess.

I'm sure you'll let us know how it goes and share some results - I may be moving on my Sigma 35mm Art as I just don't do primes and was wondering about something long - never had anything longer than a 200mm plus TC so will be looking closely...
 
£589 is a bit of a steal isn't it, makes you think, hmmmmm..

Does the Siggy come with a bag? I had to get one for the Tamron (mainly for storage).
