Agreed, the sport is by fat and away the best sling strap I've used. I couldn't imagine having the D750 and 24-70mm on a holster :eek: Just goes to show ;)
 
....so - I'm torn between the Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC and the Tamron 150-600, I know totally different beasts, but which would you go for?

70-200
Pro - Very nice quality, near VR II without the price
Con - I have the 85mm 1.8 and very cheapie Sigma 70-300, would the 70-200 get used much?

150-600
Pro - Reach
Con - Sigma 70-300 covers a fair bit of the range and is pretty light, I'm expecting an IQ much lower than the 85mm or 24-120, its heavy.

So what are your thoughts, what would you do?

Would you ever need extra reach with the 70-200mm, if so the Tamron 70-200mm cant take teleconvertors
 
No, if I wanted reach I'd get something with reach, as I'm not keen on TCs

IQ on the Tamron 150-600mm is excellent. I've not had chance to compare side by side with the 24-120 but my impressions are that the Tamron is every bit as good.

No, that's why I can't compare side by side ;) Have tried it, and seen numerous tests and thousands of shots with it. But of course to really compare you'd have to do some very controlled tests. But it's a bit pointless as two totally different lenses :LOL: I have no complaints with the 150-600mm and you know how picky I am ;)

Went out this morning with the Tamron 150-600 and my D750. lighting wasn't brilliant but the D750 doesn't seem phased by poor light so its the ideal camera for the Tamron lens!
These images were all taken at up to ISO4000 so should give you some idea. They are all cropped but the only sharpening applied is a small amount of clarity in Lightroom.

Damn, the Amazon price just went up £75.. Just my luck!
 
Ive used the Tammy with my D7100 for even more range but theD750 is so good at low light, and at high ISO, and the images after cropping are as good as those from the crop frame so it looks like the D7100 is redundant.
 
I got mine from a UK supplier with the cashback offer and 5 year warranty. Buying Grey though does bring the price down considerably!
 
As does buyng from Amazon.de - roughly £700, no cashback sadly (I called and checked), but still 5yr warranty - I wish I'd ordered yesterday.

Import is lower, but for a 5yr warranty on something with known issues (although Tamron UK didn't know about it until I said)

Mine actually froze on me today John. Just refused to focus, so I switched the camera off and back on. No further issues. I will be keeping an eye out for that though.

The D750 also has issues and doesnt seem to like my Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 gb cards. It gave me the CD error code twice yesterday and froze. Would not then allow me even to re format the card in camera so I had to swap out the cards for my Lexar Pro16gb cards since which it has performed faultlessly. The data on the cards isnt corrupted and downloaded fine to Lightroom when I got home yesterday. Just seems that the camera has an issue with those particular cards which are genuine having been supplied by a reputable UK dealer.

Don't think you'll find it cheaper tbh, plus TAmron will honour the 5yr UK warranty if bought within the EU. I was lucky as got mine from UK shop for £799, plus the £100 CB so worked out at £699 :)

Are you sure it's the lens and not the camera? I've had my D750 do this 3-4 times and been with different lenses.

Joy. Guess who has just bought the same cards. Not used them in anger yet. Would be useful to hear other people's view on these cards.

I have them and so far have not had any issues like STB. However, my camera has locked 3-4 times since last November and not sure what the cause is. I am monitoring it by keeping a record of which memory cards I'm using (have several of the SD Extreme Pro 32gb) in case it's one rogue card. I've also mentioned it to Nikon who are going to investigate when it goes in for the shutter issue.

Cant be sure Snerks but a quick Google of 'Tamron 150-600 freeze' shows many examples with Canon as well as a mixture of Nikon bodies. Looks like a well known issue.

Interesting thanks. Has a cause been found, hopefully it will just be a software thing?
 
Just Googled 'Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 Gb card issues'......... Think Im going to but some more Lexars or stick to 16gb.
 
Mine was back with Tamron twice for the fault with no fix,to add balance to this statement i may buy another i liked it so much.

It'll be interesting to hear what they have to say - when I spoke to the guy there he'd not heard of it (and has one), on other news I just pulled the trigger :)
 
I had the freeze problem only a hand full of times in the first few months on my D7000, not had it happen for yonks now, and never on my D750.
Fantastic lens and even more of a bargain at the price it is now. It is hardly ever off my camera and I would buy it again in a flash, no question.
