Nikon D750 & D780

It's strange isn't it, the thought of restricting myself to a prime is a 'scary' thought and I don't know if I'd manage. However, when I think back I grew up with film 'compacts' that just had a 35mm lens and knew no different and managed with that. They were the ultimate P&S, no zoom, no focussing, just look through the rangefinder window, point it in the general direction and hope for the best

I'm sure you'd find it perfectly ok. It's liberating, makes you think about what you're doing.

So I am liking my 50mm again, back in a comfort zone so to speak!

What would be the best wider prime to go with it? I don't shoot super wide so was thinking the 24 or 28 would complement it well?

The 28 seems like a nice lens but isn't all that popular by all accounts.

I have the 24 and 50 which seem to work well together.

Seems a logical combo! Shame that prices are just so expensive at the moment!

I much prefer that focal length to 24 as a compliment to a 50.

Guys I think you should close the thread for a day in mourning,David's D750 is no more.its a sad day but lets look forward to the next chapter:nikon:

Got a fair price though, think he did well. Won't be long before he's back scaring us with more selfies

Dud-dulum dum dum..another one bites the dust

He will be back! Everyone comes back!

24 and 50 but in essence you're right mate. Guess I'll have to do some more jiggling about with my gear. (oo er!)
Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f1.4 would go well with the DF (y)

How much realistic IQ is lost using dx mode on the d750?
AFAIK all DX mode does is take the full image and crop it, the same as cropping in post so all you will lose is resolution (DX mode is 10mp). However, whenever you enlarge an image you're going to lose some sharpness, which is why DX bodies are not as sharp as FF (all other things considered equal). Obviously if you only view on something like a phone you're not enlarging by a great amount therefore it won't be noticeable. View on a 27" monitor and it'll likely start to become noticeable (assuming it's enlarged to fit the screen). That being said, I crop images quite heavily sometimes and the IQ is just fine.

At low to mid iso i have not seen much difference in any re sharpness, all else being equal but at higher iso FF wins out definately

Cheers guys, I was having a dopey moment and thought that if i put it in dx mode i would get more reach, trying to defeat the laws of physics....

DX mode on the D750 won't have any more noise than the full resolution image on the D750, the reason that noise is more apparent is because is because the cropped/DX image has been enlarged more. Obviously the more you 'zoom in' to an image the more apparent noise is. This is why files from the D810 can show more noise at 1:1 than the D750 but when you downscale the D810 files to 24mp noise is pretty much the same (give or take ;))

Hi all,
Here is the long awaited , well one week anyhow, IRIX 15mm f2.4 with a moosif 95mm dia lens hood/filter.
I decided to get the cheaper version as I couldn't justify paying the extra £200 for a all metal/alloy body and the guts are exactly the same on both models. The build quality even on this model is really nice.
I have included a really boring photo view from my terrace window, I purposely had the sun in the corner to give it some "lens flair"
Don`t it look Pretty
Now to tell the o/h that I/we are going out tonight for a hour or so for some star shots :)
