Hello

I'm a intermediate level photographer and I can't believe I have only just found this website!

I look forward to contributing and also receiving help and advice

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy"

Hi Tony, enjoy the forum and enjoy yourself here :welcome:

Thank you both ;) I feel a bit apprehensive posting my photos after looking at some of the outstanding photos I have been looking at !

Hi Tony, welcome aboard. Don't be intimidated, but do be aware that the sharing areas of the forum are for critique except photos for pleasure. Usually crit - if given - is well intended, and often helpful.

Oh, just be aware too, sometimes people get very 4rsey here - don't let it bother you.

Thanks for the welcome mariner, what do you mean by 4rsey?

The nature of communication through the written word means that anything written is read with an emphasis & emotional content belonging to the reader, rather than writer. Therefore it is not unusual for misunderstandings to happen, high-horses to be say upon, umbrage embraced like a long-lost friend and teddies to be firmly ejected from perambulators. It doesn't happen too often, but sometimes people will forget to add a smiley to a humorous post or will decide the 'plain speaking' is the right approach when tact would be more helpful.

You get my drift. ;)

Over the years I've noticed that different disciplines have different approaches to life. Guitarists tend to be a bit gung-ho, have a good time and are quite heterosexual and matey. Bass players are often socialist, depressed and sometimes cross-dress (kid you not). Photographers tend to be nit-picky, unsure whether their work is art or craft and unhappy about that, for whom detail is extremely important - they can be the nicest people face to face, but behind a keyboard... Like I said, best not to worry, get stuck into the forum and enjoy it. Post some pictures as soon as you can so we can see you stuff. :)

Welcome to the forums Tony, take no notice of the doom and gloom merchant, on the whole this is a very friendly
helpful place to be, so sit back and enjoy it. I've learnt a lot since I joined
What type of photography do you most enjoy ?
Looking forward to seeing your pictures :)

Lol thanks for the explanation mariner!

Gemlin, I love macro and landscape/street photography but have also just got into portraits.
To be honest I live all aspects , I have just done some branding photography too which was a first and fun but tiring at the end of the day !
