My Cactus triggers died a few weeks back and I saw these as a potential replacement, they are only on the market, so views and reviews were pretty scarce. I ordered a set from eBay (1 transmitter and 1 reciever) for £25, which is not too bad at all.

Picked up my set yesterday, 3 days delivery from Hong Kong to Ireland, was pretty impressive.

As these were bought as a replacement to my cactus triggers, that is all I can compare them too.

The build quality is miles better than the cactus triggers, especially with the receiver, you know when they ship them with Duracell batteries that they aren't skimping too much. I found the receiver abit tight on my 550EX, but nothing to get me worried.

I only performed a limited number of tests, in the house, in line of sight, in another room etc. I didn't have a single misfire, so I am very impressed with these for what i will use them for.

Hats off to Yongnuo, they have produced a good product at an excellent price, which should meet the needs of most amateurs.

I've got a set of these on the way to me, in fact they may be waiting for me at the post office in which case I'll have them tomorrow.

A friend of mine got his **** just been playing with them and they look impressive! alot beter build quality and transmit for a good distance! My v2s have just died on me so i think im gona get a set of 3 for around £50 i think bargin!!!

I've been looking at the cactus V4's but have a lot of concerns over reliability, might have to give these a shot. Need 1 transmitter and 3 receivers.

I've been looking at ordering some in, but the 2.4ghz frequency worries me a bit, as that's the cordless phone/LAN frequency for the UK...

i used to race radio control car's and the handset i had used this frequency also, the way they worked is the received would search for a free frequency then match with the sender so there should be no worry there :)

There is a guy on Sytobist flickr blog that has been testing them quite heavily. He put some on top of his Wireless sender, no effect at all, he strapped some to his mobile phone, no effect. They seem to be good

A few people raised the same concerns, but they seem to come up trumps for anyone who has tested them.

The proof will be in how they stand up to when more people start using them, but they are streets ahead of the cactus triggers.

I seen on the strobist group that they are going to start shipping these as flash triggers only as opposed to the joint flash trigger - remote shutter release, so if want both capabilities it may be worth getting some of this batch.

Sorry to sound skeptical, but despite all the "testing" he has done he hasn't backed his claims up with one picture to prove they even work.

Claiming something is the dog's danglies and proving it are two entirely different things ;)

I have a Yongnuo wireless shutter release for my 5D MKII and its never missed a shot yet. Sometimes if your in continuous shooting mode it triggers twice but that's probably me holding the button too long.

Very good build quality as well.

Cheers

Ron

Edited to add . They have sixteen channels you can select on the shutter release.

depends how good yours are :D

I'll get the best option available so I'll wait for someone to review ;)

I just ordered a twin receiver set for my Canon gear. I was looking for a remote shutter release and my Cactus V2s are garbage, so hopefully these will kill two birds with one stone. I decided to get my order in now because I am concerned about reports that they will be dropping support for the remote shutter release function from September.

I know I can't use them as a release and flash trigger at the same time, but that's cool.

Thanks for the heads up and links, guys. :)

EDIT : Received despatch notice at 05:24 on Monday morning (10th).

That does sound skeptical, I will try and take a few shots today and post, but I fail to see how a photo or two would help, there is nothing to prove that this was the only two successful fires out of two hundred. I think people just need to try them for themselves.

It's just that if the only "review" of something is coming from the seller then it people need to be aware of that - do you remember the one done of the Pocket Wizard ttl triggers? It was carried out by someone affiliated to the manufacturer or one of the other brands of trigger and, surprise, surprise the other brand tuned out to be better.

I'm not saying that the guy is lying, far from it, but when you make claims about something being able to work through 2-foot thick stone walls it would look far better if you could back the claim up with some evidence.

Anyway, I've ordered some, so I'll be able to do some wee tests of my own :)

I wasn't aware that he was affilliated to the supplier, some impartial reviews are definately required.

If you have any ideas for some tests I can do, let me know and I will give it ago. Bearing in mind my severelly limited skills.

That was the point I was trying to make - any tests need to be independent....

Another question here, do these triggers work with old high voltage trigger flashes or do you have to use a modern digital compatible one?

Cheers

defo use rear curtain sync on canon flashes I guess on nikon

it doesn't do anything clever to rear curtain the camera just sends the pule at the end of the exposure instead of at the beginning

Mine arrived today, not had chance to do more than a quick test to see that they work though.

Can you get additional receivers for these as well? I've got two flashes (430EXII & 580EXII) so would be looking at getting the usual T & R and an additional R

I'll be getting a trigger and 3 receivers when FITP gets his stock in and will happily do a review when they get here.
