98c... Nice...
I ordered the akasa venom for my build but wouldnt fit in my m-atx case. It's huge and pretty good aparently. There's a pic in my build log on here.
Regarding the overclock, 100x 43/44 is but a few bios changes awaythere isn't any real need for water cooling on that sort of clock though. Hell I run a basic 20 quid low profile cooler and like I say maxes out at 70c or so of 4 or 5 hours at 100% load.

'Regarding the overclock, 100x 43/44 is but a few bios changes away'
What do you mean? Have I not done this already by changing the BCLK to 100mhz?
What is the highest overclock I can do easily, whilst remaining comfortably stable? (any tips/how to's?)
Think I'm set on the idea of water lol. Just been spec'ing up the parts again.

BCLK is 103.2 and has given zero problems so far.
Water is for washing with!
Ben: said:Just realized I hadn't changed the CPU ratio. So I've just set that to 44
Hmm seems there's just 2 sides for/against water. Just personal preference it seems.
It's a fact that water is a better conductor of heat but whether it's 'necessary' or not is issue lol
The problem is EVERYTHING is driven off BCLK. CPU multiplier is driven off it, as is the DRAM. A BCLK of 103.2MHz will give a 3.2% performance increase but COULD make the RAM (or something else in the system) unstable. Moving just the CPU multiplier to 43 takes you from 3.5GHz turbo'd to 4.3GHz turbo'd. Note Intels claim of 3.8GHz turbo'd is if only ONE processor is active and in order for this to happen the other processors need to be in a power down state which just doesn't happen with Windoze/Linux. 3.5GHz -> 4.3GHz is a 25% speed increase. Of course, you could always combine the 3% BCLK and 25% to give ~4.4GHz but then you could make something else unstable. You could always just set the multiplier to 44 and have the same effect too...Yeah I don't understand all the technical bits so not sure what the problem with it being 103.2 is :/
Just to clarify I'm not against water, if there is a case for it after going beyond the capability of air. With the quality of good silent fans these days for me that'd take a large overclock to warrant. Otherwise it's just e-penis points..![]()
Well it does look good! The 100 bclk is for stability/compatibility with chipsets and memory

HTH...
Hey... if 44 or 45 or even higher works for you then go for itI've changed the ratio to 43 instead of 44 now.
Thanks for the great info!
Hey... if 44 or 45 or even higher works for you then go for itEspecially if you water cool you might be able to get closer to 50...
generally you increase the multiplier until it becomes unstable then increase the voltage slightly and repeat.

is it not in your program files?
also before i forget, you set the SSD back to AHCI didnt you?
you didnt install them to a folder that was on the SSD which you then moved as part of the whole user folders process?
looks like BF3 is now on your D: drive for some reason? is that where you installed it to?
I knew there was a good reason I never did any of this reassigning users locations stuff
Good luck with sorting it out. Do any of those found locations have the downloaded install file in them?

I think you've moved more than you think.....Now I keep having issues with 'BOOTMGR is missing' grr!
have you changed drives ? added new one ?
it happens with win7 when you move drives around, or maybe you formatted one partition and made it active ? (ive made this recentlyhad to repair w7 from cd
I think you've moved more than you think.....
And not overly happy about the 'look' of all the cables at the bottom of the case, but not a lot I can do is there?![]()
Could of used a modular power supply, no redundant cables that way
What case is that you have used Ben?
