New Ford Mustang

Why. The seats will have a lot of adjustment to take in American frames and plenty of space in the boot for luggage, camera gear etc. It's a cracking car.

well the 2012 convertible had no space in the boot and the roof went nowhere near it. We actually bought soft luggage specifically to fit the boot.

So do I. Preferably a supercharged one. A snarling six would be a good engine too.
True, they've done some cracking sixes in the past...A six suits the Mustang...

What about a Roush Stage 2 Mustang

I'm guessing that Roush will do a stage 3 Mustang like the last model and that they strap this dirty great big SC into it

In my eyes you cannot beat the sound of a big supercharger whining away as its gulping in lots of air

When will hertz have them in the US for hirecars. I've got a landscape shooting holiday up my sleeves avd one of those would be perfect wheels.
Hertz rental Mustangs are for taking directly to the track and nothing else. ;)

I'll throw in a few laps of Laguna Seca in for good measure but it's such a road trip car.

I can't wait to see people flock from their bmws and audis into these.

Apparently when it appeared at a recent motor show in Europe, several representatives from super car manufacturers stands wandered over to look at the Mustang and liked what they saw.

I'm not normally a Ford guy but this looks great and a lot better than the later German stuff.

Whilst you can and IMHO should get the V8 range topper the new Eco boost engine is more relevant to more UK people. Whilst it's not a mustang engine I see here a really smart coupe I'd love to own one day.

What do you all think?

problem is with American cars that big round thing in front of you doesn't seem to be attached to anything. trying to go around corners in some American cars is like trying to turn a ferry

True, but newer designs are catching up and the car for the 1st time is a true world car which means it will cater to all tastes. Bye bye live axel suspension and hello an indenpenent set up which should resolve the handling issues. Combined with a decent weight distrobution I reckon there is a fair chance of this being a decent car. I'll hire one in the US when I go in a few years anyway :D

The suspensions have got to be good.. some of those american folks arent light weights.

Neither are half the people I see getting out of BMWs, Merc's and Audi's....
Oh dear, best not mention I've got full active air suspension and active cornering on my Merc. People may go like look at the size of ....

Supercharged V8's are heavenly having sampled a 55k AMG Mercedes CLS. Such a wonderful grunty machine and the whine of the charger adds a dimension to the noise.

Couldn't agree more. I work with a lot of Jaguars in the bodyshop and they sound amazing with the SC V8. Even nicer out on the test drive when there's some strain on the engine.

GT350|R

Over 500 horsepower, over 400 pound-feet of torque and carbon-fiber wheels.

I bet it shifts but its lost any distinctiveness now , its just another car, and the styling seems to be nicked from the chrysler crossfire. Performance is all well and good but wrapped in a beige packet of meh it may as well be a mondeo st

sorry but thats f*****g horrible - it looks like some tried to copy the lotus elise while they were drunk.

I'd rather have the mustang - although tbh i'd rather have a classic shelby mustang than one of the new ones
Then I can only assume who ever designed the Elise based it on a Ford GT or GT 40

Nothing like a Chrysler Missfire and there is certainly nothing wrong with a Mondeo ST.

not in performance , but mondeos are the epitome of bland and boring to look at , and the Mustang seems to be going the same way. rather than inspiring the 'wow look at that' the original and shelby variants did, the new one is just 'meh, sportscar'

Its a bit like the Bini - in a lot of ways it a much better car than the original mini, but at the same time its turned into just another small to mid hatch, so its not 'special' any more - same with the beetle , same with a lot of 'reimaginings' of classic cars which might have been best left unsullied. (golf GTI is another example)

I'm sure the reliability and comfort of the new mustang will knock the shelby classic into a cocked hat (speed and handling remains to be seen) , but its won't stand out from the crowd anymore, and i very much doubt that in 40 ior so years people will be yearning after them as a 'classic year'

I loved mine and it certainly had presence. Blokes at work nicknamed it The Batmobile.
A Mondeo and presence, not something I've heard before. I can't see it myself. It's good at what it is, but that is it in my opinion.

This is more my kind of thing...

yep i'm not seeing it either

the standard mondeo is basically mundane and boring , the mondeo ST is fast, but mundane and boring. (admittedly my daily driver is a focus , the only car more mundane and boring than a modeo)

The newer ones stole the look of Aston Martin; I think they look alright. The pre '07 was eclipsed even by Octavias in styling. On the same note, the Astons badly need a new image
