I like it. The orange one they had at work the other week didn't look that special though, I think it's a case of some colours setting it off nicely. Mountune are already working on performance upgrades too.
Bonus for buyers of the V8 is you get line lock too for those all important burnouts. ;)

I saw an orange one in this months car magazine. I loved it. I am pretty sure I will one day get one actually. Probably an eco boost, its a stunning car design and to be honest not seen much new stuff that really grabs me.

With your record, you'd be better sticking with a Nissan Micra or the like and you'd better get that restricted too:D

I don't think I really get having a mustang that doesn't sound like a mustang - for me it would be the V8 or nothing. (my boss has fairly recently acquired a 1965 mustang and that is a thing of beauty!)

Lets be honest though its the baby V8 engine so it aint a proper mustang until you have squeezed a 427ci or more into the bay

I do like that, just not the curvature of the roof. It doesn't fit well with the mean/sharp angles of the rest of the car. The side view sort of reminds me of an Aston Martin.

mustang without a v8 is not a proper mustang. same way a landrover without a v8 isn't a proper landrover lol

It would have to be a V8 for me as well. Anything else is akin to putting a diesel engine in a Ferrari:eek:

I drove the 2012 v8 convertible model through the US, all back roads. great car for over there, not sure it would work so well here

It would be one big step forward, but it would be still too small and uncomfortable :p

With Mountune hoping to get 400PS out of the Ecoboost engine, I'd be more than happy with that.

it's not all about the power output. if you have ever owned a V8 you'd know what I mean. and a proper one, not some flatplane cranked s***e

I did. Admitably a BMW one. I didn't like it. I preferred the straight six. Smoother, more tuneful etc. The eight had a lovely low down torque which suited the car (being an x5)

I've driven plenty of Mercedes V8s. The supercharged one was epic. The others good ranging from the 5000cc m113 and 6200 cc m256 engine and 5500cc m273 engine. I truthfully prefer the feel and sound of a five, six, ten cylinder. I've never driven with a 12 sadly.

I'd probably buy this car despite it's a mustang not because it is a mustang.

I dont like modern refined V8s

Would much rather listen to this sound all day long

Why. The seats will have a lot of adjustment to take in American frames and plenty of space in the boot for luggage, camera gear etc. It's a cracking car.

I was referring to Ferrari comment :) but as we are at it, the Mustang is just as unpractical car. You can get 2.3 ecoboost in a much better package. The V8 sounds more fun, and sort of looks iconic, but so what? I'd have the Cayenne or X5 over this any day.

Not this side of the pond you can't.

Rumours are that the new focus RS will drop the volvo engine in favour of the 2.3 ecoboost

I like the look of it. I'm just concerned about the handling.

Having the hottest hatch of the moment with absolutely superb handling I just wonder what that thing will do. I just can't imagine it being even better in the corner than my GL AMG with active cornering.

The ecoboost could be interesting, however I just can't have something like that in a big barge.

The car isn't that big to be honest. If you want the V8, Roush added a Whipple supercharger to one and produced over 700bhp.

that's because there isn't a balance pipe between the exhausts. flatplane crank engines don't need one but they just sound like 2x4 cylinder engines stuck together.

It actually sounds like tin cans being dumped in the skip :P Thank god these cars are rare as hens teeth, particularly in Europe.

Thats because 9 litres of chevy big block would be wasted on most euro folk

Oh there are some of us who appreciate that :)

I think with fords latest offerings the handling will be decent. Out goes the live axle in comes independent suspension. I can't imagine, particularly in the lighter Eco boost engine mounted behind the wheels, it will be anything other than neutral with oversteer on tap for the careless or the initiated.

It won't have the road holding of a gold r, but I suspect it'll be like driving a 5 series. It's a big car. I'd love one. V8 or ecoboost

It won't be hard to improve :) I do think a nice V8 is much better suited for such a car opposed to a hyper four potter.
