Formula one has, for a number of years been getting very dull, then out of nowhere last year we got some excitement. Now after watching the first race, I think we've hit a new low.
Hopefully things will improve, otherwise backers and fans alike will walk away from the sport.
Personally, I think they should make the 'soft' tyre last just 15 or so laps, with the hard tyre lasting double that. It would bring a bit of strategy back, as a driver may opt to do 2-3 stops using the 3-6 seconds per lap he would gain on the soft tyre to leap frog those on the harder tyre.
It would bring a bit of strategy back, as well as having incredibly fast cars hunting down the slower ones - a bit 'tortoise and hare'.
"It would be radical and expensive in the extreme to try to re-introduce refuelling, so forget that.
Bridgestone understandably want to make racing tyres which perform well and represent their technology and brand in a positive light so they won't want to supply overly soft compound tyres which quickly fall apart.
So we come back to the age-old problem that modern aerodynamics make following one another very difficult. This was supposed to be improved last year but the radical and ultimately legal double diffuser spoiled that. And we have even more extreme versions of that device on all the cars this year.
Double diffusers, which generate a lot of downforce and turbulence under the rear of the cars, are banned for next year, but for this year a change to a mandatory two pit stops may be the only solution, and there is no guarantee that will fix the problem."
I agree with Brundle, a mandatory 2 pitstops might be the only "quick fix" for this season.
yup, chuck in 2 stops and some backstreet garage remoulds and its all good again.
Brundle is right, its all down to aero parts, they need to make the rear of the car a no development zone and give them a standardised wing. game on then

So what genius thought it would be a good idea to put everybody in near identical cars, with so many restrictions there is no room to improvise or adapt, with identical fuel loads and near enough identical tyres with identical pit stops and no strategy and STILL think it'll be more competitive and exciting?! F1 has been getting steadily more neutered year on year and I really see no way of it improving under the current regime.
I am a fan and usually will watch each race religiously but I think most will be over by the end of qualifying on Saturday afternoon. If I miss a race now, It'll be no big deal, I could just watch the previous one which will be exactly the same.
