Live on BBC one now!!

yep should be interesting, i wonder what the first corner is going to be like! i think ferrari have this one though, redbull apparently eats their tyres! i recon lotus will be the best of the new teams in bahrain, they seem to have the better reliablity compared to virgins. hormone racing is a bit of an unknown as they have only done about 50laps in total!

My views on the schumacher comeback is that he will be humped by nico 'your worth it' rosberg

interesting quali yesterday, the renault in the redbull is good on fuel but i dont think its good on tyres...young nico may have the advantage now, but Im not so sure he will keep it. Schuey hasnt raced for nearly 3 years, to be only .350 slower than Nico is pretty good...give it 3 races, if nico is still ahead then I think hes going to struggle to make up the difference

redbull tyre wear red hearing then...

You can say that again! Bit of a parade so far, not many overtaking fights to hold my attention...

Looks like its Alonsos race today, gotta feel sorry for Vettel and wonder if Red bull ditch the new fangled exhaust

not sure why they ditched fuel stops, at least it gave it a bit of spice. Tyres were to hard, send them out on the softsets and give it some chance of action.

Good start back for Schuey, I was never a fan but i'd like to see him do well.

It was GO .. GO ... Go get in the que!!

Bahrain is one of the dullest of the new tracks, hopefully the season will get better.

Did anyone spot a spectator??

dull as dishwater, the new teams provided the only interest in the entire race, what with the first squabbles with the virgins and loti, and then hunlkenburg using the blue flags to his advantage to nip through on one of the loti. at the front it was dull, the top 10 was fairly uninspiring tbh!

yawn fest!

Refueling was dumped to save cash. Was a bit dul wasn't it! Least a brit on the podium.

I really struggled to stay awake. And if Ferrari look like putting together a series of wins then I won't bother watching later in the season.

had a feeling it would be like that. I mean a total bore.

I thought it may end up like it did, but it was the first race. On a shorter circuit with more overtaking chances who knows.

MotoGP starts in a few weeks, then F1 can learn a few lessons about proper motorsport...

its a small grid for motogp this year isnt it? which is a shame.

F1 need to cut aero and fast, now they are banning double diffusers next year, they need to make the car more reliant on mechanical rather than aero grip, allowing cars to operate effectively alot closer together, removing this 1second of turbulent air behind a car. perhaps if they mandated a large proportion of the car as downforce neutral zones as well to reduce the overall downforce provided by the car this would improve this ability to work in the same airspace.

they also need to sort out these tyres, you can practically do a race distance on the prime tyres at the moment and the options will last about 25laps, they need to ensure that the options are distinct, you can either run the option tyre which is faster over a lap but perhaps only lasts 10 laps before seriously degrading, or the prime tyre whch is slower but more durable, meaning that you can run the quicker tyre but will need say 2 pit stops or the prime tyre and make less stops, putting a bit of tactics into it, as it is every team one stopped the race, running for the first 15laps on the softs then the rest of the race on the hards, therefore the playing field was so equal their was no value in it. it would have been grim if everyone had piled into the pits during a safety car in the first five laps and then run til the end of the race on the hard tyres.

i hope they sort this out as i simply cannot wait until valencia and hungary, ill time it to coincide with some decorating so i really can watch paint dry!

Really dull race, looking forward to the return of Moto GP

Just what i was thinking, thought i would watch the first F1 race to see if things had got any better since i last watched it in 2007, and it hasnt the good thing is i wont need to watch it until 2013 now :lol::lol:

Boring, as usual.

MotoGP - looking forward to another great season.
Matt

motogp is ok if you like bikes...I dont...

they could make bridgestone give 2 poor tyres for the rest fo the season, that would help. I love F1 but something neds to be done to spice it up

good lord that was dull.. thank god we didnt have to get up at 4am to see it this year

That will be for Australia in two weeks, I don't think I will be getting up for that!

I did have high hopes for Ross Brawn's Mercedes GP team as he did well for Brawn GP in his debut year for Button. Even more odd to see Virgin Racing, as I would have hoped Branson and Brawn would stick together!
I haven't given up on Ross Brawn to deliver the goods!

motogp is ok if you like bikes...I dont...

I don't mind, though Suzi always makes it pleasing to watch!

I'm a fan of Formula 1 and thought the last 2 seasons apart from the politics provided some great races. but this today was a farce, total boring boring race, they keep medaling with things and its all going to turn away the fans and then the sponsors will follow.

Slight floor in that bit in that last i heard she left the MotoGP tv show.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Oh well, Gadget Show it is then! ;)

I hated that too, though I am in fear of being a hypocrite by saying that changing the rules was stopping the circus that was the same team/driver winning over and over again because they had bigger budgets etc. On the other hand, I used to say you don't see the FA changing goalposts in between seasons or changing rules as frequently in football to prevent the same team winning the league all the time.
I always said F1 would be better if all teams drove the same cars with the same engines, and then it would be down to sheer driver skill and not varying engine specs and budgets. I think that ended up being the A1 Grand Prix, though that seems to have gone quiet.

I think there's too many technical regulations. That's why it's become so difficult for anyone to pass.

Give them a control ECU and a power limit and let them do what they like. It would certainly be cheaper engine wise as they could bring back forced induction for more power rather than doing it through revs.

(Yes I miss the turbo days. :'( )

They already have control ECU's with rev limiting an no tc.

Yup, definately a lot more dull than the beginning of last season! :( Like Dean says, they keep changing the rules too much/often. I think it was a mistake getting rid of re-fueling, although I can see what they were trying to do, which just means the cars go slower (trying to save tyres, fuel consumption etc) all the time.

They thought the cars would do quick lap times at the end of the race closer to that of qualifying and yet they were still 4-8 seconds off that.

Felt sorry for Chandhok, was basically a completely new driving experience for him. First time he'd driven the track properly and out after a lap or two. Great to see the name 'Senna' back though, hope he gets a good car/team next year.

Don't think Jenson's in with a chance of winning the season (or Schumy), but I hope Lewis wins, seems he's in with a chance if they can get more downforce in that McLaren. :)

It's easy really, keep the teams, keep the drivers, swap cars with the Historic F1 boys and then we would get a really great weekend seeing who can drift side by side through the corners like they used to do in the 60's and early 70's.

well if you watched it today, you most likely DID watch paint dry with hispania.

:lol::lol::lol:

The only good thing about the race (IMO) was NR beating MS.

Just hoping that there will be some races later in the season.

albeit one with a dodgy transatlantic accent - get it sorted Lewis, you sound like a ponce in the interviews....

Dull race. Glad I didn't have to sit up until some ungodly hour to watch it. Hopefully Australia will be better
