I suppose it all depends on what price point the new model comes in at..........which I imagine will determine how many of you move to the MkIV or MkVWhat kind of price will this drive the Mk III's down to![]()
I wonder why they didn't go for 18mp like the 7D? Makes you think the 7D is over-spec'd

Is the US RRP $5200?
That's £3,184.03 at today's rates, and we get stiffed for £4450?
To the US chaps, you'd be paying $7,268.81if it was the other way round.

1DsIV should be (based on history) 6-12 months behind. Same features but higher resolution and full frame. Looks like that will be £7k at launch.
Remember that the comparison with the US should also take into account VAT, so the difference is only about £900 (!!) but that will drop as the model matures.
Lets hope it's 6, not 12. I think it's a real tell that a used d3 will still cost you £2100+ but a used 1d MK3 is coming down to around £1500 as to which brand is more desirable at the moment.
On the plus side, it means i can finally afford a 1d mk3![]()
Think I'll wait for the Mk V, anyone got a release date yet? I'm hearing 18MP, 75 focus points, tea making facilities and they've dropped the video![]()

Keep up, that's the Mk IV, yesterday's news![]()

That, for me, was the big surprise. I really was expecting an improvement on the Digic-4.It uses the same Dual-Digic4 as the 7D
nice camera - too much dosh for what little (imo) improvement over the 1d3 though
I'll be looking out for Andy Rouse jumping over to the 50D/7D with great enthusiasm![]()

The ISO performance is the main attraction to the upgrade for myself and my increasing amounts of sports work. Worth £1k extra over the MKIII? That'll require some thinking and shopping around of sorts! Coming from a 1DII though, it will seemingly be another world!
I would be interested to hear about why the was the lack of inclusion of the wireless flash (although I have PWs so not too fussed), electronic level thingy and so on that made it in the 7D.
I'd laugh me socks off if he did.
Well as Paul (grumpy badger)said, he's just bought a 1DSMK2 for £1K which is absolutely crazy considering it was a £6K camera, and these high end cameras didn't suddenly become obsolete. At the rate new models are coming out now, the depreciation is a serious hit for most users.
That's really surprised me. No leveling device either, which is actually really useful on a tripod. I know it's not a completely redisgned camera from the ground up like the 7D, but I'd have thought for that much wonga they'd have made sure it has those features from a cheaper model.
