I think those JPEGs are out the camera JPEGs and have noise reduction and sharpening already applied.
Not really possibly to compare those JPEGs with the 5DII as the settings and conversion engine is SO important.
Besides - I don't use out the camera JPEGs so have no experience for making that judgement
What I'd like to see is the 5DIII RAW converted to a JPEG with minimal tweaking.
That would be for much better direct comparison with my 5DII images.
But it needs someone who has got the latest ACR installed to do the conversion. LR4 has not yet been upgraded.
Yes I wasn't talking about the jpegs, if you read what I posted.
You can download the latest camera raw here and do it yourself.

Why has this thread (like so many others) got right away from the original point of the thread which was the 5DMkIII?
I have no interest in the comparisons of price etc to the USA which ultimately has no real bearing on the price over here
nor on the merits of Kerso who, as far as I can see offers an excellent service to all members and has done so for years, so I fail to see why a few members seem to be trying to call his integrity into question.
If they feel that strongly perhaps they should start a separate thread on that subject and NOT hijack a totally different subject.
I feel the mods should close this thread since it is no longer related to the original purpose.
I do find it a bit funny that I posted High ISO RAW files etc from the camera and no one seems to be interested but we do have several pages on Kerso.
Sounds like Kerso is more reliable for warranty? i might take a punt. just afraid of dropping serious money on someone i have never met lol.
Big gamble on my part lol

Several members here have purchased successfully from Ian. My 50L was ordered on Fri afternoon and arrived before noon the following Tuesday. I know the source of my new gear from now on. His UK-issued invoices are accepted by canon for warranty purposes too. You can buy with confidence from Ian Kerso
Back OT.
Thanks to DavidSteward for the images taken with the 5D3. The low light handling is truly impressive so as said before I too will be waiting for the price to become a touch more comsumer-friendly.
I'm sure everyone is happy but no way would I hand over thousands to a website without these things clear to the purchaser.

Does not affect me one bit. Studio shots at high iso are not representative of low light images. There is hardly
Any shadow in the shots.
The D4 is slightly better in some cases as you would expect with the larger pixels but not 3k better lol
thats the point of that link. stunning ISO shots mate
How can you have a UK based shop, turn over in excess of the VAT threshold registration and not have to charge VAT to customers?
Would you also buy from a website without an address?
Just curious...
Without knowing the precise setup it's difficult to say but I'm guessing it's down to the place of supply. If his Head Office (business establishment) where the sales actually take place is in the United States and the Scottish location is simply a storage and distribution centre, perhaps being classified as a temporary presence, then I don't think he needs to charge VAT as his place of supply is outside of the UK.
The general rules with VAT and the place of supply is:
You supply services to a business customer - place of supply is where the customer belongs
You supply services to a non-business customer - place of supply is where the supplier belongs
Why has this thread turned into a Kerso thread? There is a forum for any queries to Ian isn't there? Do what I did and contact Ian himself.
Depends on what you're shooting. If you don't need the better AF or shoot in dark spaces the 5D2 is a good deal. For me the 5D3 looks like a camera I could be happy with for 5 years at least.
ffs. if you bother READING this thread at all you would know it is NOT about Kerso but about the BEST CHEAPEST place to buy the 5dmk3 and in this case from Kerso and.or DigitelRev:bonk:
for a hobbiest, is it best to just go for a 7d/5dmk2 or this?
What a bargain a 5d2 at £1300 would be. You know it makes sense......
GyRob said:If you crop the mk3 to 1.6 its 14mps now thats close to 7d also if you crop to 1.3 its 17mps so more than a mk4 .
Im starting to find this camera quite intresting .
Rob.
I've asked Kerso to post here with the answers, think it's the fairest thing to do?
For prices yes, people here will be interested and it's relevant.but the vat thing is none of our business.

That's incorrect. The crop factor is linear, you have to square it to apply it to megapixels. It would actually be 8.6mp at 1.6x crop and 13mp at 1.3x crop.

There are some interesting comments and points to other sites/tests on the forum at Luminous Landscape. They seem to be saying that DR wise the MKIII is not much of an improvement over the II and lagging behind the best APS-C's at least at low ISO's.
Oh i was thinking it was too good to be true - its not a camera for me then being a birder i need more mps than 8.6 if i cropped .
Will stay with my 7d .
Thanks
Rob.
