I have the ordinary redsnapper tripod and thus far I'm quite impressed.
I'm 6'2" and the tripod is able to put my camera at eye level. Not too heavy but I wouldn't like to carry it up Ben Nevis. For the money the carbon version may be the way to go.
Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 and 486RC2 ballhead should just slide in under your budget and is probably among the lightest combo's you'll find for the money. I use this set up in the Welsh mountains and can recommend it. Don't recall the Redsnapper Carbon being particularly light...
