Nasty scroats

EXCELLENT news, NIG insurance are collecting the Saab today and dropping off a courtesy car and fitting a new roof and its only costing me my glass excess £75.

Pete, sorry to hear that you've had problems with the new motor, i really feel for you, and I'm convinced should you find the scroat alibi's will be aplenty on here for you

Seriously, if it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all, that said sounds like the insurance have come up trumps

At least 2010 is just around the corner and I hope you luck changes for the better then.

All the best mate!

Thanks Andrew and yes the last two months havent been kind to us, hopefully we can put it all behind us now and start again in 2010

Does that mean it won't impact your no claims? That would be excellent if so.

Glad everything has turned out ok for you and Insurance company have come up trumps.

Sadly some people have not been so fortunate.

I hope all the theiving and vandalising scroats end up having a very miserable christmas and even more miserable time ever after.

well I have had it to the car clinic and its going to cost £2100 to replace the roof..........but they have also said the glass itself can be replaced and leave the roof intact but at a cost..........£1250 for the glass, so now its wait and see what the insurance say

Just a quick update......Car clinic have just told me an engineers report has been submitted to NIG asking to do the roof instead of the glass only as the car is in concours condition so its still a waiting game but rest assured if the insurance dont want to cough up as the prices are high I will cancel the claim and have the work done out of my own pocket....I havent told them this lol, but it means my next camera can only be a D200 but thats not too bad is it

Pete, my fingers are crossed that the insurance come through on this for you. I know how much you love that car, as I would!

of course I'm not at all jealous, i'm much happier with my Xsara Diesel estate

Seriously mate, fingers crossed

I think you'll find they don't have any choice but to cough up as long as you've met all the conditions of the policy, if they decide to write it off just tell them you want to buy it off them and get it fixed, this shouldn't affect your NCB at all

I was reading a thread on another forum, a guy had a new Nissan GTR, he was in traffic when the car in front of him stopped, he didn't and just nudged the cars towball with the front bumper.

The GTR has all the latest safety gismos and it fired the pedestrian safety system which lifts the bonnet at the back up thus deflecting the pedestrian and softening the blow, other than a mark on the bumper there was no damage to the car.

when he got the insurance estimate the bill was £11,000:eek:

Apparently, the insurance are repairing it as the engineer sent the quote in with the car value at.............wait for this.............. £5000 .....it stunned me to but I have to say it is a bloody credit to its previous owners to keep it in this condition, all I can do is try to keep its condition up to scratch, which I am doing now by having this work done and the leather has been reconditioned and the paint is being done in a couple of weeks ( not being painted but profiled)it doesnt need it yet but who cares, so a new roof is nothing to nig but I would have put a new roof on it gladly as I have also said to my insurers but they are adament in doing the work, I will let them do it

 Glad to hear that the insurance is sorting it for you.
That's a great gift for Christmas.

It is but I have to wait untill the garage is back open...... sometime in the new year, I will probably have a new roof on it by then so no cost to my insurers but still have to pay out as always

great news pete, a merry christmas from NIG

its normally garaged over night but every time i park up now it goes in the garage

Am I reading that right, you're going to put a new hood on it yourself rather than waiting 2 weeks for the insurance to pay for it

NOOOOOOOOOO.......It looks like the insurance are paying out for the glass put back in or a cash in lieu payment where I source a hood and a garage of my choice does the work and the insurance pays.

Right, if they're paying you directly you may come out on top if you can find a roof at a reasonable price, if you know your motors are good is it possible to buy a secondhand roof but only use the canvas and glass and keep the motors as spares

The motors were replaced 3 years ago by the previos owner at a cost of £375 each:gag: I have the reciept along with a folder full of history on the car:thumbs:

I haven't recently used either of the two Saab forums mentioned, but I have had excellent help in the past from them. Are you a member of the Saab owners club? They also have a wealth of info as well as contacts within the dealerships.
