EXCELLENT news, NIG insurance are collecting the Saab today and dropping off a courtesy car and fitting a new roof and its only costing me my glass excess £75.

Just a quick update......Car clinic have just told me an engineers report has been submitted to NIG asking to do the roof instead of the glass only as the car is in concours condition so its still a waiting game but rest assured if the insurance dont want to cough up as the prices are high I will cancel the claim and have the work done out of my own pocket....I havent told them this lol, but it means my next camera can only be a D200 but thats not too bad is it
I think you'll find they don't have any choice but to cough up as long as you've met all the conditions of the policy, if they decide to write it off just tell them you want to buy it off them and get it fixed, this shouldn't affect your NCB at all
I was reading a thread on another forum, a guy had a new Nissan GTR, he was in traffic when the car in front of him stopped, he didn't and just nudged the cars towball with the front bumper.
The GTR has all the latest safety gismos and it fired the pedestrian safety system which lifts the bonnet at the back up thus deflecting the pedestrian and softening the blow, other than a mark on the bumper there was no damage to the car.
when he got the insurance estimate the bill was £11,000![]()
Glad to hear that the insurance is sorting it for you.
That's a great gift for Christmas.
barstewards indeed. did they pinch owt from the car?or just do it out of shear bloody mindedness?
There wasnt anything in the car to pinch, looks like it was done for kicks:shake:
It is but I have to wait untill the garage is back open...... sometime in the new year, I will probably have a new roof on it by then so no cost to my insurers but still have to pay out as always

Right, if they're paying you directly you may come out on top if you can find a roof at a reasonable price, if you know your motors are good is it possible to buy a secondhand roof but only use the canvas and glass and keep the motors as spares
I haven't recently used either of the two Saab forums mentioned, but I have had excellent help in the past from them. Are you a member of the Saab owners club? They also have a wealth of info as well as contacts within the dealerships.

Just had a phone call and the car is going in to a specialist hood repairer on the 6th jan and because its just the glass being replaced at £1800my NCB stays intact.............at last some good luck
