Had my first drving lesson today. It was amazing. Really enjoyd it. The instructor is a top fella. He has the right balance of being a laugh but not so relaxed i dont learn anything. FOr my first lesson I ended up on two of the busiet roads in my area doing 60  Talk about being chucked in at the deep end  i only stalled once. I need to work on changing gear, I am to aggressive. Also need to watch my speed  was doing 50 in a 30 etc. Also need to learn not to stamp on the brakes!! It is a delicate pedal

Next lesson is next Thursday! I cant wiat.

Oh and the instructor said I did brilliantly for my first ever lesson :D:D

Nice one.. Had you ever driven before? I spent about 30 mins every weekend for 2 months driving around on an abandoned car park so it gave me alot of experience using the clutch so I could skip the first 5 odd lessons which mainly dealt with it :p

And start studying and book your theory! Get a programme/disk called Driving test Success.. I used it to practice my theory and passed first time because of it. Now just waiting for my practical test next month :p

Good luck and well done for doing well on your first lesson.. quite a strange experience being on the other side of the lane eh? :p

Regards, James

I thought that was you that passed me today, with your driving instructor trying desperately to get out :lol:

Good luck mate, remember not to look down at your gear leaver to change gear :D

Sounds like my first driving lesson!

MY instructor did say: "Changing gear being like making love to a beautiful woman" - something about slipping it in gently.

Well done Matt, freedom is on the way... it's only very very expensive to actually have :D

And how loudly was the engine screaming in First at 60 Matt :D ?

Are you with one of the bigger driving schools or a smaller private one. My son is learning with BSM in a Corsa, he's not impressed. He much prefers my old Mondeo. How much are your lessons. My son's are £24.75 per hour but he has a two hour lesson once a week. So it's costing me almost £50.00 per week.

i thought matt had been driving for months. hes been driving me mad since hes been here..

BaDum TISH!!!!
:tumbleweed: :thankyou:

Nice one mate, its nice being able to start driving. I remember my first lesson. It was in a Artic truck.

Smaller private one! My lessons are £22 an hour in a Fiesta Diesel. I am doing one hour each week!

What are you learning in?

Ford Fiesta Diesel

One important safety mantra:

I remember my first lesson in a 306 Turbo Diesel. I did 60 on my first day too, the power was extreme  I still remember the feeling of first accelerating to 60 out of a junction, redlining every gear with my instructors encouragement (he was a great guy, crazy, but a great guy)

Shame I don't get that feeling now :( new car time!

I have heard on the grapevine that everytime Matt goes driving all Police leave is cancelled and the Police helicopter has to take to the air to monitor his activites on the road!!! :D

I've heard they have SO19 snipers in the bushes and on the overpasses, ready to shoot out Matt's tyres should his driving become too hazardous :p :bonk:

There's nothing slow about the latest Fiesta Diesels. I had a 450 mile test drive in one a few years back, suprised quite a few other motorists, especially with acceleration on the motorways.

It did feel quick but saying that, no matter what it was, it would feel quick

Well I hope your driving goes ok Matt :)

I remember learning to drive in a Hyundai Getz - it was great but the wiper and indicator levers were on the opposite side to which they normally are - so initially when I indicated to turn off at a junction, the wipers came on

Another bad thing about learning to drive is that the learner car always seems to be newer and better than your own.
When I passed, I was excited, although that soon turned to disapointment when I looked at my car - "Is that what I'm driving"

50 min a 30 Matt 1st lesson , I"d have battered you :) , seriously *** I am glad you are enjoying it and looking forward to next lesson , and remember when you pass book some M/Way or P/Plus lessons , you will be better for it .

Yep, I dont want to spend more then £300 on a car  Dont see the point in having an expensive one for my first car.
