Try harder :D Its very easy to take a snapshot for the daily photoblogs. It technically works but needs more interest.

Welcome to the forum. My comments are intended to help. Just to clarify, the day you take a "snapshot" just to fill that missing entry, is the day the whole point fails.

It is a reflection but the reflection is a bit boring. Personally I would have cropped to a panoramic of the mirror as the view out the window is quite dull.

That said the purpose of doing a 52 or a 365 is to improve so at least you have a strong base to build on.
 
I accept all the advice :'(:D, as I wasn't to keen and knew it would look better with a better reflection in the mirror, but sadly didn't get the chance to improve on it.

This is, imho, what puts the 'challenge' into The 52 Challenge. It's the discipline of working to a brief with a deadline - and that's often not easy when there are so many other calls on your time, and so many things you can't control. So well done for coming aboard the '52'. Look forward to seeing your History shot later in the week. :)

Welcome to the 52ers:wave:. Although the view in the mirror isn't especially exciting I think it would look better cropped and straightened. I think the first week is the worst as it takes time to get your head around an idea (Well it does mine :lol:). When we get into the rythmn it should get easier (I hope!)
 
Well I don't think the 2nd week has got any easier for me, I had some ideas and took some photo's but I'm still not happy with what I am getting.

My 1st Idea was the rings in a tree. as we have a stump in the garden but I let that one go.
My next idea was a graveyard, which I attempted, even with a tripod at one stage, and I quite liked what i got but it didn't seem History to me.

So I moved on and one of my idea's had been something to do with Woolworths, well it would of been nice with a sign half hanging down, but that didn't happen so had to make do with a shot inside with empty shelve's and and woolworths sign, so that is going to be my shot for history though I did have one more idea while in ASDA with the Roll Back prices signs meaning big prices history, so anyway here is my Woolworths pic

Nice idea. A little overexposed but still works. Keep going. Looking forward to your next photograph :thumbs:
BTW I think graveyards are full to the brim with history. That's an interesting shot. The sense of movement gives it a very eerie feel. This would have been a good one for this week!!

History as it happens - a sad sight indeed! Good interpretation of week#2's theme :)
 
Definately works for the theme for me, but I am slightly biased because I had the same idea, I even took the shot but didn't use it.

The image is OK but there are alot of distracting reflections in the image that slightly spoil the image for me more than the over exposure to the frontage. However, it is a good spot and well done for getting out there.

I have looked at the graveyard shot and I really like the effect of the zoom but you made the right choice as I don't think it says History either, good choice. I'm definately looking forward to what you come up with next week.

Yes the graveyard shot seemed more of a time theme to me, and I certainly didn't feel comfortable taking photo's in the graveyard, but luckily not many live people were around .
 
Great interpretation of the theme! I miss their pick and mixes.. As much as you can stuff and squeeze down into a cup!

It must be catching..I was think about this for the subject...guess we all think alike.
Yes it's a bit over exsposed but you are making the effort so you will get better.

Well this has been a hard one to do because I wasn't able to put my 1st plan into action.
So this is my alternative shot..

Because enteral feeding has been a learning experiance !

What have I learned this week:
1) Always have a backup plan, because no matter how well you plan it, if no subject no photo.
2) Remember when taking shot to use Dof :)
3) I need a better tripod and lighting.

My 1st plan was to have been a learner driver as the road next to us is a examination route, but as luck would have it I haven't seen one this week.

Good photo well exposed. Nice detail and colours. Set up and presented well. Creative thinking that fits the theme. The narrative that goes with it is intriguing and sets up the viewer. Are you a nurse that administers this or the patient who receives it? :thumbs:

Thanks for the comments, and no not a medical person, just a parent/carer for my 6 year old son :).

I had to change image size as didn't think it was good to have to scroll to see all of image.

Couldn't agree more! A clear crisp image that speaks volumes of the task you have before you as a parent and carer. And for me a learning experience too as you made me aware of something about which I was unaware.

As for plan A, B, C - I normally end up with Z!!!:)

So photo's comes last sometimes...but it doe's take away your thoughts and away from the normality of life for a while.:clap:

spartacus and all, I thought I was going to have to leave it till monday and try for the learner car again.
Well I was going to go to the learning school as the cars didn't seem to be coming to me :D.
But really wanted to stick to the brief of getting a pic in by Sunday, so it was either the feeding pump or an old computer I have open and in bits.

Well what ever I post this week will be a surprise to me as well :thinking:

From this it looks like you need to be a rocket scientist to operate that, so if you've learned to use that :clap:

I tend to find that the photo I actually use (week 1, week2 and probably week 4) is one that I din't plan and I shoot on the spur of the moment. Although it's a pitty your first idea didn't come off becasue I like that idea (I feel really stupid for not thinking of that :bang:).

Your shot here is OK, it looks very "catalogue" product shot (that's not meant to sound negative BTW :D). I think you are right you need to spend a bit of time getting to grips with lighting, espeically White Balance (it seems quite warm).

Looking forward to your Surprise image this week

Thanks and yes it did seem a bit warm, I mean I had never seen the table look so good :D.
Am shooting in Raw so slowly getting used to DPP , so hopefully I will get better not worse .
 
Well I finally got one for Surprise, if a little bit late.
Because we never seem to be ready for it and it surprises us everytime.

I found this week very hard to find something for the subject, and initially took a shot of our car blocked in by the gasmen, but it didn't say surprise to me.




Is this any better or does it need a bit more ?

Yeh trying to get white balance sorted, but it could possibly be my monitors shall have to have another play with it :).

Well, that's one person the snowy weather pleased then. :)

It's a lovely shot apart from the blue tint already mentioned. I love the snow on the (oak?) tree on the right.

You had loads more snow than us down in the New Forest. We have family living near you and they had a whale of a time in the snow today. Hope you got time to build snowman to celebrate your surprise. :)

Have just put a 2nd copy next to the 1st one, so have I changed it enough or does it still look blue.

Shall delete blue one when I get it right :).
