My 52 - Updated - *Week 48 Confusion and 52 Texture* - health to come!

Sorry I haven't commented for ages - here'e my catch up. :)

Out of context: Sarah's said it much better than I could - I totally agree. :) It's definitely NOT a snapshot. :)

Bubbles: The processing really makes this shot, but I also like the composition of the bubbles themselves with various sizes and getting smaller towards the edge of the glass. Difnitely  from me.

Low down: Going for paws doesn't seem odd at all - feet, paws - all low down! Apart from a bit too much foreground (for me) I really like it. The processing is excellent and the dog's paws look wet which gives it great texture. A really good take on the theme.

A filler shot this week - the Doom and Gloom of being a not exactly good looking dog - that you can't tell whether he's shaking his head, or actually looking straight on :p
ALSO, the doom of recession - when you get such a breed like a Sharpei turn up in rescue :(

This is a great action shot, and although not screeming out Doom & Gloom...

(I should talk...:lol:) it is a cracking shot in it's own right...:clap::clap::clap:

I'm liking this one shorty, a lot...

Awwwwww !

I don't know about it being a filler shot. That sentence sums up doom and gloom pretty well for me.

And I really love this shot    - you've captured the motion brilliantly and you've even got that bit of drool flying
Do you have the colour version?
I love the B&W contrasty conversion, but I'm wondering if there might be a bit more definition if it was in colour.

Filler Shhmiller! Great shot, miles closer to the theme than mine

Gets a  from me

Sarah - no, there's actually more deifinition showing in this version, AND the coloursversion makes it SOOOOOOOOOO not easy to clone out all the agility equipment I was able to in this background :p
If I can be bothered when I'm more awake - I'll post the colour for you!

Will read through everyone's threads later/tomorrow

You've cloned stuff out in the background?
Good work - I would never have spotted it. In fact I'm looking again now and still can't see it.

And that is thanks to the B+W PP I got :p - seriously, it's vile background, and you'll prob be even more 'wow'd' when you see the colour/uncloned version tomorrow!

What an action shot - I hope your camera didn't get soaked. :) Well done for catching the moment.

The story behind the shot is really sad, though, and I hope he/she finds a good home soon. I'd want to rehome every dog that came into the Centre and sometimes is must be heartbreaking to see them. Doom and Gloom indeed.

I like the pp and didn't realise you'd re-arranged the background.

Jean

That's a great action shot Leanne... well timed and well caught... Without the explanation I wouldn't have got doom and gloom, not what the type of dog is... but well done and excellent PP

I can't agree with that more :D

A face only a mother could love eh!! Well taken:clap:

I didn't recognise it for a dog, at first - amazing action shot. And an original yet very valid take on the theme. Well done!

A face only a mother could love eh!!

Is the first thing I thought when I clapped eyes on him. And a devoted mother at that :love:poor boy!

I PROMISE, I WILL comment on other people's threads sometime this week, busy busy!

Heads up, I'll hopefully have a shot TAKEN before this week is over, but it won't probably be posted before then as I'm dashing down to a client's in Plymouth tomorrow, for the weekend!

The doom and gloom is in the description and it's terrible that any dog has to end up in rescue. Part of my job is managing the collection of strays and it's clear that a lot of dogs are being abandoned rather than straying. No way to treat your best friend if you ask me.

Hope he finds a loving home soon.

I love the shot as it is but wonder whether something along the lines a shot used by charities to tug at our hearts and emotion would have been better.

Mark, in what kinda way, I'm up at the rescue lots when not working, so I\'m sure I can make it a project of mine to try and portray the idea you have.
I mean, behind bars/looking for someone? What kinda idea did you have?

And your job sounds pretty damn tough me - dog warden? Or similar? Or not quite the same?

And it looks like I lied, I'm not gonna take or post a picture in time. Buggerit :shake:

Well after posting that earlier today, I decided I would at least try. My idea all along has been to include a dog/cat in the shot, so I've done that, but just for a fun shot.

My 'actual' shot, I'm disappointed with, I tried to sort the DOF out properly, but I couldn't get high enough shutter speeds with anything high, so not quite the desired effect - something I'd be glad to reshoot when I get the chance!
But, anyway, here is my communication

And the fun shot

Thank you Missie for being so cute

Two for the price of one - that's good Communication, Shorty. ;)

#1 Spot on for the theme. I like the fact that the tip of the Sky controller is in sharp focus. I'm not sure about the gap between that and the tv screen, though. It might have been easier to get them a bit closer together. I must admist I wouldn't know how to tackle this shot, though, so I've no room to talk.

#2 You can probably guess what I'm going to say about this.

Awwwww - soooooooooo CUTE. :love::love::love:

I love the processing and the fact that his/her bright little eye is nice and sharp. Lovely photo that made me smile. :)

Jean

From no shot to two . . . that's pretty good going if you ask me :)

Your "official" shot is good. Fits in with the theme and nice focus on the remote control, but your "fun" shot is just stealing the show for me!

Missie is absolutely gorgeous
And I can't help being jealous of the way you always manage to process your dog shots so brilliantly.
You've caught a beautiful sparkle in her eye (focus is spot on) and there's great texture in her coat.

The composition with the phone is just awwwwwwwww so cute too! I bet her owners would love to have a print of that shot.

You're first shot isn't bad. I can see why you want to reshoot it, but as for your second shot, that's just a stroke of genius! Loved it

The idea of the first shot is good but as you say there are problems with the DOF. Maybe you should try a montage or something in PP????

The dog is just gorgeous! Wonderful capture. But aren't you going to show the picture she took of you? :D

Catch up time:

Doom & Gloom - I really like the shot, the movement in it is great... but I'm not sure I would have known the theme from it though. Nice work on the cloning though

Communication #1 - Grat idea and the composition works well. I agree with you on the DOF but definately worth a reshoot.

Communication #2 - Very cute! On a serious note the focusing is very good - bang on the eye

Yes, I agree with everybody elses comments. The pics are dead on theme ;)

Both good and on theme... The remote idea works for me, but it's put in the shade by the second one... Excellent ;)

What do you get if you cross a dog with a phone?
A Golden Receiver!

anyway moving on...

Ignore him, he's from Gloucester...

If it were me, I'd just up that F stop a tad (larger number, smaller aperture) in Comm #1, and bring the screen into focus enough to see what's what, but not so much to be fully in focus, and bob's your uncle.

Cracker!

Right, this week's self. I was gonna do a little collage of photos from this week that sum me up. But lack of time, and forgetting to do it all have not made that possible, I may however add a little collage to this thread tomorrow, just to consist of my time at the rescue, but we'll see what the weather allows!

So, SELF - this pretty much sums me up!
Will include a link to a larger pic if you really want to see the 'details'

TP....This, is my life! - This creates myself.

I can't see you in the photo? Where are you?

I think it's a........ cop out! :nono::lol:

Nice photo all the same. Sums up what your life is about. But would have preferred a self portrait :annoyed:

:lol::lol:

Really like both your communication pics in fact i can't decide which i like best :)

Self love the idea and think you have carried it out well

Doom and Gloom - sod the theme thats a neat shot :) And damn hard to make out his face but well caught I like it :)

Communication: Love the first of those two - simple and so relevant to 'today' :) "nd's cute but #1 wins for me :)

Self: Ha nice idea and simple and well shot!

You've still got time! If you go shoot it now you'll still be in time before the next theme...

I ain't doosin no self portrait. Sorry. If the title was 'self portrait' fair enough, but it was 'self'

I spotted this loophole as well - but just couldn't come up with ANYTHING at all to represent me. So I'm really jealous of your shot, and since I still can't think of anything I could have done, I'm getting worried about me not having a 'self'! :sulk:

Anyway, big  from me for getting such a good lappy shot and being on theme.:clap::clap:
