My 52 - Updated - *Week 48 Confusion and 52 Texture* - health to come!

   awwwwwww!

I love your animal shots and those cats are absolutely gorgeous. You've got that lovely contrasty, texture thing in their coats that you always do so well.

I'd quite like to see a bit more of the guy on the left too, he's getting just a little bit lost.
It really doesn't detract from the shot that much though so  from me this week.

Will see back at some of the other shots I've got, incase there's more of Lola in that shot, but I think that one was the one with most of her in[without you not being able to see it was a cat - she's the same colour AND texture as the bed she sleeps on ]

As always with your animal shots - very high on cute-factor, and two good-looking cats. I'm in the 'we'd like to see more of Lola' camp, too, but photographing 2 dogs is hard (mine certainly are!) - 2 cats must be a hundred times harder. Well done, you.

Thats Porn!! ;) Lovely shot and well taken

Thanks for the comments last week guys. Well, literally 30mins ago I popped outside, and then back in to take these reshoots.

I COULD have had the perfect shot for Water this week[but I had more important things on my mind than togging it all ], having woken up at client's house this morning to a 'hissssssssssssss' and finding out where it was coming from. They had a pipe leak - courtesy of a squeaky mouse[who isnt anywhere to be found] a quick email to clients, and a few calls back and forth[on both our parts] the landlord and then the plumber came to take a look and fix it. Caught JUST in time, it had started to leak downstairs and has completely drenched the kitchen island. Boo.

Anyway, here is:
Identity Reshoot - anything is better than the carp I submitted for this at the beginning!

And Season Reshoot - this is more on theme to me, and not needing an explanation, perhaps a cliche and boring shot, but it's MY cliche and boring shot  ;)

OHHHHHHHHH, I know what excitment I wanted to share with you....These are courtesy of my newly aquired Nifty Fifty :geek:

Damn the plumbing - I want to see this perfect water shot you speak of! :D

Passion - too cute!! As others have said I'd like to see more of Lola but otherwise I like ;)

Reshoot Identity - It is an improvement on the original effort but I'm sorry, I don't like the composition. I do however like the DOF.

Reshoot Season - LOVELY. Sharp where it matters and complimentary colours. Glad you've putting that new lens to such good use ;)

I really like identity. Love the DOF and composition. Really like season too. It's simplicity really works for me

Daysleeper, I probably wouldn't've been able to get a good shot, but kinda ironic we get that theme when a leak occurs! It was stuck at the back of a cupboard, nothing interesting to look at, just water ruining client's house!!

Thanks very much for the comments so far!!
Identity, I've been trying all week to extend the canvas on the left, to make it a normal portrait pic dimension, but I've not succeeded, so if anyone has any tips/wanna has any goes, more than welcome.

Season, I also personally like this shot :D - so, glad others feel the same!! Thanks

 glad you got the leak sorted . . . although it could have made for an interesting shot ;)

Glad to see you experimenting with your new lens - a nifty fifty's on my wishlist for Christmas
. . . And two brilliant shots that you've got with it this week too!

Seriously I really love both of these. They're two to be proud of.
In fact, any suggestions I have are being incredibly picky because they both work well just as they are.

Identity : I'm going to have to search back and find your original for this, it was before my time.
But I absolutely love the composition and dof on this one. In fact I wouldn't even worry about extending the canvas. I love it just the way it is.
My little niggle . . . I'd like the focus to be on the name tag at the front just so that I could read it a bit more clearly.

Season : I did like the original for this, but another great shot with your new lens and it shows that it's not just doggie pics that you do really well.
The leaf looks incredibly crispy and there's some fabulous texture to it.
Lovely detail in the blades of grass too.

My really picky moment with this one - I'm not sure that you need the sky and blurred sky in the background.
It shows off the dof with your new lens really well, but I think the leaf and foreground are interesting enough to stand on their own, cropped just below the skyline.

Sarah - be as picky as you want, picky details are still improvments.
Identity, I was waiting for someone to say that, surprised it wasn't said before you  :p
I'd, oddly had the focus whatsit onto the tag, but I musta moved or something, cos it wasn't - and also, my cloning wouldn't have been good enough for this and I'm sure my client's wouldn't fancy their mobile number being pranced around :p

Season - funny you should say that, actually! Becuase this is the ONLY shot I took with the sky showing etc. All the rest WERE just of the leaf/grass, and I much preferred this one, strange that, that should happen. Also, though, just me being picky, those trees and whatsit woulda been DOF'd out anyway, they're a 900yards away from the spot I took the pic from... - But just less DOF'd, I'm just in love with f/1.8 atm :geek:

Shame about that water shot... I can sort of picture it... ;)...

Anyway.. I really like the DOF on the two shots. Identity is good, but I think that blown out rear corner spoils the shot and distracts from the collar too much. Season :clap: excellent.

The water leak must have been frustrating - but I think I'd have been keen to keep my camera well away from it.

Identity: I like the idea and the dof. I think it's a bit long and thin though and the (very smart) collar loses a bit of impact. Had you tried a squarish crop?

Season: I love this just as it is. It did make me smile though - that solitary leaf has blown a long way.

Also - good on you for doing 2 reshoots. I find it impossibly hard to go back and revisit my earlier efforts. I think at the back of my mind is the thought that I might not be able to improve them.

:) I just feel bad being being picky because these really are good shots just as they are.

It would be interesting to see the leaf without the sky . . . even if it's just to prove myself wrong.

wow you have been a busy girl...:D

Passion... nice animals shot as usual...

Identity...yes that works well and keeping with the theme...

Season... That's a cracking shot, one of your best for me...

Passion - I know it's been said Leanne but AAAAWWWWW. I know how hard it is to get two cats together, never mind on the right background as mimi is mostly white with ginger hints and Scooby is a (large, old fashioned) chocolate Siamese so it's hard to find one background that suits both of them, and, of course, they only sleep where they want to anyway

Identity Reshoot - I'm of the 'want to see more of this' faction because what I can see looks great

Season Reshoot - My favourite so far. Great DoF and spot on focussing :clap:

Can someone PLEASE give me a good kick up my a*se? I really don't wanna give up on this, but I now have nothing for out of Context, or Bubbles and it's Sunday tomorrow.

I've been so busy with work, and only had Thursday and yest off - both days the plans I did have ended up stretching and filling the whole day - so much so even when shopping yest I forgot to buy something for one of the tasks. SO peed off.

I just feel like this task is slipping away from me, and I need a shove in the right direction and to get myself sorted....Somehow!

EDIT: I WILL catch up with all your threads soon, too, sorry about that!

Out of Context. Well, I had to shoot something - I'm so more than unhappy with this SNAPSHOT, but I really do not want to go and fall back behind, and end up dropping out of this.

Therefore, here is Out of Context

Major Catch Up :)

Fresh Start: well two reactions - yeuk and great shot :) Love the dof!

Passion: Awww - what a cute shot :)

Identity Reshoot- yes very nice minimal but would love it straightened a bit :)

Season reshoot: absolutely superb! Spot on dof and composition - I love it!

Out of Context- thats not a snapshot - its a well seen and well composed image :) And fits the theme well! As have all the shots :)

And here is, bubbbbbles, literally just shot this, the PP, I'm not keen on, but it's the only thing that brought out the actual bubbles enough....for me.

4043413510_3401596cf7.jpg

TBH, I'm just glad I've at least, finally, caught up now!

Out of context - not bad for a filler. Well done on just keeping it up rather than giving up

Bubbles - Not bad either. I like the almost "industrial" PP on it. It ended up being a b****r of a theme eh!

Out of Context . . . definitely wouldn't call it a snapshot.
It reminds me a bit of the composition in your season reshoot and that's definitely a winning formula.
Absolutely LOVE the colours. The blue wrapper stands out brilliantly against the yellow and reds of the leaves and is bang on theme.

If anything, I'd like it to be a bit more like your season shot in having the wrapper sharper in focus and some more dof, but it's nice to see a different take on a similar composition.

Bubbles . . .
Lovely sharp bubbles, but it's the PP that makes it for me.
It's taken it from an ordinary shot of a glass to something interesting and intriguing, that made me look twice to work out what it was.

The Out of Context is a good shot on theme. Bubbles I really like, it's on theme, clear and the PP works really well.

I like this, it fits the theme and the B/W treatment works a treat...:clap::clap:

Repeat after me

Out of Context is not a snapshot
Out of Context is not a snapshot
Out of Context is not a snapshot

until you believe it :rules:

It's a well composed shot that meets the theme :clap:

Bubbles - I love an abstract and this is no exception and the PP works really well :clap:

And :woo: an early entry from me, I doubt I'll get anything else, so theres nothing stopping me adding it now. Can always do a second entry if something else gets done.

Low Down:

Bubbles :) gritty shot :) I like the backlighting!

Low Down: Love the idea, love the processing but would like to see those paws on a third I think :) Fits the theme to a tee :)

A lovely shot and processing though personally I would crop out some of the OOF foreground - I find it a bit distracting.

That's actually a very interesting shot. Not something I would have thought of doing, but bang on theme.
If somebody had suggested a shot of dog's paws with no head in the shot I would have expected it to be awful, but it really does work.

Love the definition on the paws and nails and the dof is just gorgeous.

I'm in a really funny mood tonight. I've just finished off a bowl of Haribos left over from last night and I think I'm on a bit of a sugar high . . . but I keep wanting to see those nails painted bright red in PP
I told you I was feeling a bit funny. You should see some of the things that have popped into my head on the other 52s :D

Very well done Mark... the DOF is spot on, and it's very clearly on theme....

Spot on theme, but still a excellent and interesting angle...works really well.

It's a big  from me...

What a great interpretation of the theme

I love the way you manage to make dogs fit most themes :D

Great angle and love the processing :clap::clap:
