So if you don't make it to Warwick she's found out about the lens

I was expecting you to think more outside the box than that Tony :shake:

Hiya Matt

The key to the polished wood furnishing, maybe a bureau, kist or chest of drawers?

Oh and I like the steel wool shot, well done.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hiya Matt,

Well I was close enough and the only reason I mentioned those pieces of furniture is because we had a similar style key.

So the question is ..... does the key ever get used .... or is the bar always open :p

Cheers

Dawn :)

The dates been set now I think, I'm doing some serious planning looking at the travel costs plus hotels etc

I think since I have 9 months to get things in order for it I should be in attendance ;)

Day 224 - Survivor

This is the flower of a thistle that we have in the back garden, we thought that we lost this plan this year after the particular harsh winter but no it's survived :D

224/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

I set the flash angled upwards and lower power as I wanted to keep the background in deep shadow and it was not really very interesting, but I need a reasonable f/stop to get all of the flower as sharp as possible

Hi Matt, like the tomato soup! I looked at it earlier, and only this time did I notice that you had included the day number! I really like the lighting on your flower as well, it has worked really well.

Thanks Michael, I'm pleased with Day 223 I like the idea :D though I should  I would have liked to do the numbers a little more convincingly and have tomatoes covering the entire background but as it was about 10pm I didn't want to go down the garden to pick more

I love how the lighting on today's has worked it's just how I wanted it to look

Day 225 - Manual Mayhem

This is more a bit of fun than a serious photo, but even so I had to get it right :D and in a funny way this features 3 TP members :D in front of the camera we have TheDodo (Darrell) and a really great lens owned by Micloi (Michael) and then me MWHCVT taking the photo :D haha

225/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

The lens 300mm M42 lens originally produced in Russia when they still went under CCCP markings, with a 2x teleconveter too boot :D

Some one rare for me, actually this is the first time that I am going to post a second photo in a challenge post, but I thought that I should take a photo though this lens for in the challenge post to, so took over the controls of Darrell's camera for a couple of minutes and here is a results :D please remember that this lens is FULL manual :D

Day 226 - Go Wide.....wider

Taken at the Warwick Classics Gathering, I was there with fellow members of TalkPhotography.co.uk for our August 2011 Warwickshire and West Midlands Meet.

Features a classic Ford Pick Up in the livery of A.P.Molloy of Coventry

Special thanks go to Tony (duttytd), for use of his 8mm fisheye lens that made this photo possible :D

Day 227 - More Manual Madness

Given the clear skies and full moon this morning on the way home I decided to set the tripod up and stick on the borrowed 300mm and a 2x TC and take a photo of the moon, this is the result

It's astonishing when your at 600mm just how fast the moon moves across the frame :D

Hi Matt, I like the fishyeye shot. I hsve always wondered about buying one but never managef it yet. Fun with the manual lens, I have s bag full of fd lenses I wish I could use. Considering the age of the lens it performs well. Great moon shot.

Thanks Michael, I loved the fisheye even if I did get my belly in shot a couple of times  the really crazy thing is that even though it's a fully manual lens it dozen matter what you pointed it at it seemed to be in focus

That 300mm is crazy it's built like a tank and once focused it's nice and sharp

Matt

:D ..Matt!! ... the moon does travel fast doesn't it.... i tried a few shots with a 400mm and x2 .... and the b****r was running away from me faster than i could focus.. great shot though for getting the full satelite, mine was still going through a phase..

Thanks Kev, I was astonished at the speed it moved I can imagine that 800mm would make it so much harder  I am really pleased with it..

I've just realised that your a flickr user so I've added you as a contact

Day 228 - The power of light

I went for a course in studio lighting this evening that was really fun and I'm looking forward to part two of the course :D

On the way home I stopped to give a quick lesson in light trails to a fellow TPer I didn't do at myself but I tried this out as a different composition even though it was not the best location if I'm honest and could have done with being there half an hour before we got on location

Thanks Les, I'm rather pleased with this composition, I'll be sure to use it again there are a few things that could be improved, if I'm honest amongst those would be location but I was giving a quick lesson in light trails

Day 229 - Whats 1900 on 229???

I know for many the central composition will not work and some will not like the HDR processing but overall I like this, I have used the old wall at the bottom and the tree's to frame the church, I love the colours that I have been able to bring out of this image, I think I am learning more and more about HDR processing each and every time that I attempt it :D

Day 230 - Photo Art....

So something very different from me, I was really struggling with ideas and creativity today so wanted to try and be creative but really didn't like any of the PP arty style filers but then had this ideas, basically this is a photo that I've taken this evening and then I've selected a section of it and then I've stretched out that section :D I'm quite pleased with this idea even though some may say it's no longer a photograph ;)

Hi Matt I like the light trails. Great composition. The church looks very good indeed. Colours look good. Viewing on my phone atm, nice use if hdr. As for photo art, I like it. The brightness of the pink is great and makes the image.

Day 231 - Happy Hour

I when out this afternoon to chase the wildlife around my garden to try and get a decent photo for my photo of the day and in the end the photo came from my neighbours front garden :naughty:

These two hoverflies were enjoying the afternoon sun  and supping some nectar

Day 232 - A happy union

Today I had the pleasure to be shooting at the wedding of Leanne and Gary, I had a brilliant time and it was a fantastic afternoon, even if the weather didn't play ball all of the time :( The brief for the wedding was for a black and white theme and so in that vein I have selected this photograph to share as my photo of the day

The wedding was at the Kingfisher Country Club in Milton Keynes which provided for some great backdrops for the photo's

Here you see Leanne throwing her bouquet in tradition to see who will be the next to be married :D
