MWAY speed limit may go up

Best I could do was the lada riva 1300 @ 0-60 mph: 16.90 s

Oooo more googling and
1973 drop head beetle
0 - 60 mph:

23.8 secs.

1968 Fiat 850
0 - 60 mph:

25.5 secs.

Aixam Coupe
0-60 mph: Won't happen

:D
I had a fiat 850 as a first car. I'll be honest it would only get to 60 if you didn't have more than one person in it.
The old fiat 500 was worse.

I'm sure a professional, highly trained chauffeur for the elite is a better driver than you are... and if you can afford a phantom, you'd probably hire from the best places. Those guys are anti-terrorist trained for example. I'd trust them more than I'd trust myself. You sure you're not just doing the typical guy thing? A recent research poll revealed that over 90% of men think they have above average driving skills :). I don't need to point out the irony of that statistic do I?

Depends which course you do, thee seems to be differences in opinions, especially to armed drivers, but the basics about leaving space, exits at all times seems to carry through all.

Anyway st4 is an excellent driver, he has endorsements :D

A lot of the German autobahn network that I've driven is restricted to 120 km/h. Even when derestricted the recommended maximum is 130 km/h though typical cruising speed for performance car drivers is about 160 km/h. Some of the derestricted sections are unsuitable for very high speed driving even if there was no other traffic.

The fastest I've driven over there on an empty and open section of autobahn in perfect conditions is just over 260 km/h. Didn't stay up there for very long though, it's just too much on a public highway for me.

Last year we were cruising at about 160 km/h and a black Porsche Carrera came past us literally like we were standing still. Must have been near to 300 km/h. There was a black BMW M3 about 2 metres off the back bumper! Not a good advert for a fully derestricted highway IMHO.

Isle of Man, much better driving. Totally unrestricted roads in lots of places, strictly enforced speed limits in places that are appropriate. Drive like a t*** somewhere and you are reported to the police by the locals, who then have a little chat and suggest you may like to catch the next boat, as happened to a Subaru driver last time I was there.

I've not been on the Island, but would like to some day.

Such a great place. It's got the whole of the uk landscape in one island.

Seals at the southern tip, kippers at Peel, top northern tip with it's lighthouse you can see Ccotland. Snow on the peaks, beautiful views, great roads. Well worth a visit.

I am coming to Kent when I get my licence back, do you want a surprise visit or a press release so you can get the kettle on :p

Hey hey hey!!....There's not need for such diabolical threats!! :-P

Love the Isle of Man. Been loads of times on the bike. It's weird blasting past a speed trap at over 100mph and getting a wave from the coppers. Although there are no limits out of the towns etc, they could still book you for careless driving if they deem your speed to be dangerously excessive.
If you get caught speeding through towns or villages though, straight to jail, then next ferry home.

I'll be in touch next year. Now there is no borders Kent is easy access for me. You can lend me the Jag or Lambo once I am there. More dibble proof.
Don't forgot to drop off the M1 at J14 and say Hi on the way down, loads of roundabouts to play with, with straight roads in between.

Oh and BTW don't forget your passport, MK has finally declared independence from the rest of the UK

That works Jag has since been replaced!

It was only a matter of time.
The gene pool in MK's been devolving for years
:exit:

I though it was still there for you? Hope they haven't replaced it with the 2.2 version - it's horrible in comparison to the 3l! Can't decide which gear it should be in - too much choice. The 3l one with the same 'box hunts less though. Both have the stop/start system too...

Nope :( Replaced with an XJ, and I don't like it.

I prefer Mercedes. I hope you have one to lend me. I like Battenburg cake too. Just sayin....

There's no Mercs for employee use, but one of the directors has a GL63 AMG and it HUGE!!!

Between them the Directors have quite the collection.

Whats wrong with the XJ - they are a stunning car (to look at anyway). All alumium spaceframe, should be agile for its size and comfortable.

A GL63 I would have

Too long a wheelbase for me....it's basically a limo :(

Oh don't worry there's plenty of Battenburg's patrolling the M25 etc. Waiting just for you Plenty of low key plain ones to catch you out too. ;)

Aye, but that gives it the stability, and comfort. I'd love one, out of my budget but S class or A8 will be my next car. Pop some pics up, some car porn is always good

Pi55 poor mobile pic

I prefer the old shape XJ (as in '70s/'80s) to the new one. Particularly dislike the rear lights for some reason. Wouldn't turn one down as a gift or a courtesy car though! Being odd, I also prefer the XKs to the F-Types even though the XKs are GTs rather than "proper" sports cars. One of the local undertakers has an XJ hearse - rather fancy an estate!!!

I have never been interested in cars or speed though. I get more enjoyment manoeuvring a truck into a space with a few inches clearance than I would going fast. Perhaps I'm just weird!

Steve.

You're a musician though. I ain't. So long as my tripod, tent, cameras go in the back, its quiet and comfortable and good to drive, thats me. One of these would do nicely.

You could get a couple of good sized corpses tents Iin the back I can assure you lol

Just a different sort of challenge.

I used to be quite good at reversing car + trailer. Nowadays it's so long since I've done it I'd be hopeless.
