nah dave none of our twits are nice and thick
Thick yes , but Nice ?
The different ethnic cuisines is good but we have had our food being spiced up when Asians from the Indian subcontinent and Ugandan Asians that came over in the 50s-70s. It's not really relevant to the multiculturalism experiment Labour foisted on us. I don't agree with David Cameron on a lot of things, but he was right here in 2011:
Interesting. Do you see anything great about your own culture?
I don't know because I cant remember, its such a long time since I felt more than an ethnic minority in my own town.

Where do you live?

Yes if I was going to live in Spain, I would want to have a local expat pub or club, and some english faces around, but would also want to be surrounded by locals too.
The idea of multiculturalism is, frankly, flawed as seriously as communism. Great ideas in principle but in practice, deeply flawed due to the nature of human beings. People with such differing beliefs are not MEANT to live together.
A very good, balanced and concise post.I have been a traveller all my life. I've visited every continent at least once. Several more than once. My wife and I absolutely adore culture, food, different ways of life. I go so far as to live as a local in every way, including language, wherever possible, no matter which country I visit. That said, when i return home, I want to live amongst my own people, my own culture. Yet I often feel like I am at the receiving end of everything negative if i say this, since I am white, english and male.
ST4, branded a troll, might simply be fed up with other cultures being pushed into his face in the area he has lived all his life. There is, you must admit, a heck of a difference between living in an area all your life and then over the past 20 years watching it turn into a community for an entirely different culture, than say, moving to Birmingham a year ago and complaining about the existing culture.
Honest opinon? To me, multicultural area, when used in the context of Britain and in terms of location, particularly by estate agents, means a ghetto, where unless you fit the profile, you are not welcome as a new resident. To a decent person of any background or culture, why is such a term even necessary? It simply differentiates people of different backgrounds, and ironically, the desired effect of the word is the opposite. It is as much of a limp d*** term as "positive discrimination", a term which I find absolutely abhorrent.
The idea of multiculturalism is, frankly, flawed as seriously as communism. Great ideas in principle but in practice, deeply flawed due to the nature of human beings. People with such differing beliefs are not MEANT to live together. However, we can visit and enjoy each others company, cultures, food and even religions, with no ill feeling whatsoever. Many millions do each year without incident.
To put this into perspective. I despise British people who go to Spain and get drunk, make an awful mess, abuse local laws and fly home again, all in the name of having a good time. To me that is treating Spain like a toilet. It is just as wrong as anyone coming here and expecting to impose their own will and beliefs on the English.
However, my question is. Why is it NECESSARY for people of entirely differing beliefs to live in such close proximity? There is no possibility of it ever ending well on a grand scale. This is entirely why the groups chose to live separately in the first place, if we go back many thousands of years. I have not yet found a compelling argument against this and I am more than willing to listen.
All people are valuable, this isn't racism, it's just that not all individuals or groups/cultures blend together. Politics and policitcal correctness just make the problem worse for all sides.
Just my 2p.
A very good, balanced and concise post.
When the name calling starts you shoud know you've lost the argument and this has been a common theme over ST4's posts, when self righteous misinformation, misinterpretation of facts/opinions and twisting of same kicks in. You may disagree with his opinions but writing him off as a troll is just pathetic.

Why? People like you moan here about foreigners not integrating into our society yet here you are admitting you'd be just as bad in their position. Take your Spain example; do British pubs enrich the culture of Benidorm or Magaluf? I think not! Is you spending time with fellow British people going to help your efforts in integrating with the Spanish or learn their language? I think not. I spent years sadly watching people with your attitude fail to integrate into a foreign society by doing exactly what you say you'd do. You move to Spain, then you mix with the locals and learn their language. End of.
Spain is hardly a paragon of virtue. Spain scores worse than the UK in the Pew Research Center polls for unfavourable views of Muslims and Jews and the chief executive of anti-discrimination body Football Against Racism in Europe said about racism in the stands at Spanish football: "The problem really is endemic in Spain".
None of what I posted is any of this, merely wishing to ensure the well being of my country and ensure it prospers. If the badge fits, wear it, if you think it's you, try and change.
Racism, fascism and xenophobia have no real place in a modern enlightened country, and not on any forum for normal people, have you considered moving your debate to a more appropriate place like Stormfront?
You really missed the point of my post.
No I got it. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy about acceptance and integration when you don't mention the problems in Spain. Your point of a British pub not enriching the culture, would you say the same about a tapas restaurant in London not enriching the culture, or would that be narrow-minded and ignorant?
Yep, confirmed 100% without a doubt.
Steve you are without a doubt a troll.
What is the issue you have that causes you to sh*t and p*ss all over this forum causing massive disharmony. It is pathetic.
I'll say what I don't like people coming into a thread that is clearly about the positive aspects in multicultural existence and insisting to drag this thread down to their own asinine level...

British pubs in Benidorm et al are for a frequented by British. Tapas bars in London et al are enjoyed by all and don't exist solely to serve Spanish immigrants.
It's obvious really isn't it.
The reason there are problems is that there are people like you from all backgrounds that have the same stupid belief that difference is bad, which stops the mixing.
Yet here was your quote:
So wouldn't that make the Spanish beliefs 'stupid' that they aren't mixing the way we as Brits can mix in a tapas restaurant here? You can't have your cake and eat it too.
.......... but writing him off as a troll is just pathetic.
ST4, branded a troll...
No, it is factually correct. Nearly every post that he types is aimed, fairly and squarely, at causing a reaction Brian. Every one is entitled to an opinion, but every now and again, one needs to shut the f*** up, Steve seems incapable of doing that and it appears that the admin/mods are quite happy with the discontent being sown on their forum. So be it.You may disagree with his opinions but writing him off as a troll is just pathetic.
You should quit now. You're making yourself look sillier every post. Is embracing multi-culturism so very hard for you. To quote the original post "welcome all nations in to the country...and long may that continue".
Not at bad philosophy is it.
