Smoke - As has been said, it's a bit tight in the frame and the OCD in me is wanting more symmetry in the image. I like the nice touch of only reversing one element of the picture
Mineral -Deifintely #2 to me. I like the oof lion in the foreground and the dash of colour in the background makes the image jump out.
 
2nd for me too Mike (y) , as Peter said above, oof lion head and mosaic in the bg, holds more interest :)
 
Lovely detail in your mineral shot Mike, not too sure on the left hand shadow, but other than that the shadows of the sill gives great depth - Like it :thumbs:

Sense - Not sure on the crop with the clipped brass bit and the cross that far across... which is a shame as the angle and colours are really nice :)

I'm liking the original mineral with the splash of Blue which really pop's....only niggle is having so much of the lions head in shot but oof ? Looks a huge amount like the same seat I used in my Color shot last year...but as you're in Bucks I reckon it;'s probably not ?

The edited mono version above works well in mono , plenty of fine detail :)

The Sense shot....not bad for a phone shot & love the color in the pipes just not too taken with the subject....though I appreciate you had a limited week :)
 
Nice colours and the slightly off horizontal approach adds to the image. My eye keeps being drawn to the harsh reflections on the gold bits (I'm sure there's a proper technical term for them) on the left hand side pipes. The crucifix is a nice addition. Was it there originally or did you move it there?

It was the colour of the pipes in the available light that caught my eye - the green and the gold.
Tried hard to capture in a pleasing image, but was tough.
I agree with you Peter, the harsh highlights draw the eye. The worst aspect of the pic for me.
I tried to dodge (or burn?) them out but there is only so much one can get away with.
The cross was there, and yes would be better if more central. The image is cropped on the LHS but the blown highlights are even worse off to the left so it was a compromise all round.
Here's hoping for better weather and a suitable topic this weekend!
 
Mineral - love the texture in this shot. It's a good b/w conversion too.

Sense - doesn't quite work for me. Pipe colour is nice and rich, but blown highlights and the crucifix let it down.
 
Sense - I dont get how it ties into the theme ? Also, and I know you were using your iphone, there seems to be a lot of noise in the pic which is distracting...
 
Ending, I totally agree a it the paper like qualities of birch. Good detail and textures.

I have no issues with a bit of selective cleaning and I'd have removed the LH birch, if possible, to isolate the main subject.

Sense - Nice rich greens against the gold I personally don't think the cross adds anything

Ending - You've really caught that well, agree that the LH birch could have been moved to isolate the main branch. Good spot (y)
 
Ending - interesting shot and I like the way you have captured the bark. It lacks a little context for me though.
 
Ending fits the theme atreat... always hard to get interesting shots of dead things. :) But you've done well here.

Time, "clock time" and "spring time" together... Not sure whre I feel the focus should be, but I like it this way round. Nice bright yellows on the daffs.

Time - Clock or daffs in focus? mmmmmm not sure. The yellow, green and brown colours compliment each other nicely.
 
I like the focus fine the way it is. Nice composition and complementary colours too.

Can't decide on which should be in focus either, but I like it as is so will vote for the current shot :)
 
I Know a lot as been said about the focus already, I find im searching for what I should be looking at slightly though? Also, it may well be me but the white balance looks a tad warm. The placement of the flowers is good, with nice light on them showing plenty of detail.

Peter - you noticed the top left corner - I thought I had got away with it.

All, Story behind the OOF clock is that I was trying to do something that wasn't just a pic of a clock or a watch.
The thought the daffs would be 'spring-time'. But that didn't seem to work.
So I put the clock in the background.
