MPB

At work we moved away from DPD as they were becoming much less reliable.

Their issues seemed to stem from having very little resilience when faced with short term peaks in business.

Has anyone received dubious messages from 'MPB' regarding spurious quotes asking to fill in a survey?

ive spent many thousands with them and also sold many items never any issues till covid hit us and I've had 3 items lets say disappeared completely when selling to them and never ever found. they where received into there care from DPD as tracking showed it and one box had been opended, took many many weeks to get my monies off them and eventualy on the last issue they even stated to me there blaming DPD and will claim against them when all tracking showed parcels delivered and myself having received emails stating "we have your gear" so i took it on myself not to sell to them any more. lastly several months ago i purchased a CF card from them second hand and they charged me over £7.95 for 5 day delivery which took 8 days i complained they did didnt offer any discount even when i said it would be far cheaper to send via 24 hour recorded signed for. So yes im in full agreement here there service has severity gone downhill. I wont use them again. Fortunately WEX have just opened a shop here so i can get them to ship to shop to view prior to purchasing.

Re my previous response DPD have been unable to find my missing package and have now dropped the case so I am about £500 out of pocket so beware

This seems wrong. Can you please give us some more details.

But surely it was MPB who arranged the collection and therefore have the responsibility to resolve the issue?
I would have though so too, but details are rather scarce, I'm wondering if there is more to this than meets the eye.

Indeed, it’s in their T&Cs I linked to. They cover the case it’s lost in postage. If you arrange the courier yourself then you’re liable, and you need evidence of what you sent (photos of it) but that’s pretty reasonable too. So I assume it’s one of those two cases?

Good experience here from MPB. I’ve just sold my Sony RX100 IV to them. They offered a decent price, which was increased after they judged the camera to be in As New condition, rather than just the Excellent that I thought it might be. Comms were quick, their courier arrived on time to collect and I had a valuation back from them within 48 hours.

I have used MPB for years and allways had good service however I am finding DPD to be aproblem the last time they came to pick up the guy tryed to scan in the code however was not sure how to do it and gave me his phone to read what was on his phone and that said failed so I told him it said failed so he just turned around and went.

I'm looking for some advice on a camera trade in I've done with MPB, it's a Fuji XF20 which was in immaculate condition and they gave me a good quote of £390. However they've checked it and reduced the quote to peanuts, they've subtracted £163 for dust affecting the image and they've also subtracted another £85 for condition since I rated it excellent and they've reduced it to 'good'. This has been quite a shock because I had checked the camera for dust since it's a concern with fixed lens cameras and there wasn't any I could see but stupidly I didn't save any images showing that. However I'm also particularly puzzled by the downgrade of the condition, against stupidly did not take any photos of the camera before hand however I thought I was being pessimistic with it since the camera was in perfect condition, I couldn't see any wear marks or anything to show use on it.

It was extremely well packaged with the camera wrapped in its own bubble wrap within the original box which itself so I can't see it's been damaged in transit although it's the only explanation I can see.

I'm not sure what to do now and it's not entirely clear how much it will cost me to get the camera back. I'm also not sure what I want to do given the reason I traded the camera is in is because I'm not going to use it so part of me thinks I should just take this as a very expensive mistake but another part of me thinks why should they get away with this.

Edit - Reading through the thread I see my experience is not unique, I'm leaning towards getting the camera back. Any thoughts appreciated.

Just refuse the quote and they will return it to you,

definitely take it back, seems to be a common issue with them sometimes. They are offering you peanuts with the revised quote.

As others have said, refuse the quote and tell them you want it back; they'll return it to you. I've done this before, it was returned in exactly the same condition as I sent it, including the packaging, stickers etc.

(in the interests of balance, I should point out that I have also sold to them with no problems at all)

Refuse the quote, then perhaps try selling it to Wex - I recently found they were offering better prices on average than MPB, and that's just for a straight sale.

Yup, as others have said just refuse their offer and they will return it free if charge. Happened to me and it was quite painless.

Make sure you stipulate it was in the original box with all the accessories as I have read elsewhere on here that they returned one lens without the original box or hood.

I used MPB to get my XPRO 3 and lens and I couldn't believe how good the condition was. I've used them twice since and been almost as pleased both times.

I highly rate them from 3 purchases. Spent £2500+ with them so far.

I traded some gear with them last week, and they amended the quote upwards! Paid me £30 more than quoted. That’s the second time they’ve done that with me

I got a really good price a few months ago for a Nikon Z and they paid me more than they quoted. Just for interest I checked a couple of weeks later and quote was about £200 less, guess it all depends on stock levels/demand which is fair enough imo.

I used MPB again recently. One of my many GAS sales to them! No problems at all. In fact they increased there offer slightly. Fast payment too.

Bought a bag from them that absolutely reeked of something like clothes conditioner.
Set my asthma off and gave me a headache too, hate that vile chemical "fresh" smell
Requested a return straight away yesterday mid afternoon and heard nothing since.
Very poor customer service and not impressed at all.
Just hope I get a full refund including my original postage costs.

With respect, I think you are being a tad impatient. I have had cause to return stuff several times recently and each time I have received full return details within 48 hours, which I think is very reasonable and far better than an immediate automated email acknowledging receipt.

Think I would be more concerned with the fact you have had "cause to return stuff several times lately" tbh.

I just find them to inconsistent, one order could be excellent and the next order could be an nightmare

My issue has now been dealt with, thank you.

I also had to return an item from another company because of the strong smell.
These so called "fresh" odours can badly affect those with allergies and asthma like issues.
