When I first passed I knew I would be forced to tackle the m25 sooner or later. Like any half sensible person I booked a two hour motorway lesson . I was still terrified that first time I had to do it on my own.

Forget lane huggers, lorry drivers are the most dangerous imo. Far too often they indicate and pull out requiring you to brake. They also sit a foot off your bumper. While a car is a dangerous weapon, a lorry is far more dangerous due to size and weight. You also have them hogging lanes when they overtake another lorry, sometimes taking 2 miles to get past!

Nonsense. Holders of class C (and class D) licences who are driving every day are generally much better drivers than the average car driver.

As with everything, there are exceptions but the things you mention are not the norm with the vast majority of professional drivers.

While I agree there are some total idiot lorry drivers there are more good ones. The most Annoying thing they do is the 56mph overtake of another wagon doing 55.5mph going up the a Hill. Ffs .
 
What if sign posts / satnav tell you to stay in the middle lane because that's the direction you want to go.... will you still get fined?
 
It's funny how these threads about traveling on roads go, it was the same in the assaulted cyclist thread.. Where its always someone else that's the bad guy on the road.

strangely enough if the road signs tell you to stay in the middle lane - like when motorways merge, then no you won't get fined - did you really have to ask ? (just like you don't get done for obstructing the traffic when signs tell you to slow down)

Most sit far too close to the vehicle in front. That is dangerous. Also, they may be doing 55, I may be doing 70 and they will just pull out forcing me to brake. Not good driving.
 
Don't really get the hogging bit if you're driving at the limit then you're driving not hogging your lane, if you are driving below limit then slow lane and if you want to over take then fast lane?

This sums the problem up - "I'm doing 70 therefore I can stay in the middle lane, why are all those idiots flashing me??"

I think you would "get the hogging bit" if you read and understood the highway code. Maybe this bit "You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past."

There's no such thing as a slow or fast lane.
 
Also, while they are at it, they should fine drivers whose cars are fitted with loud oil drums for rear exhausts thus effectively making a £10,000 car sound more like a £500 clapped out banger.

Well, Filming or taking pics while driving is not the wisest thing to do so no, not in court of law, but this is based on observations over the last 20 years and many motorway trips. Anyone who drives over here will see this on any trip.
 
If I am doing 70-77mph why does anyone need to overtake me? They are speeding if they do. They should be able to sit behind me and not need to over or undertake. How are you hogging the lane then? You aren't stopping them get passed because they shouldn't be passing you

What about action on slow drivers? On my local road I do get stuck behind cars doing say 40 or 45 in a 60 limit. Just as dangerous as speeding.

Does not matter what speed your speedometer is indicating, you are not in charge of policing the speeds of other road users.

So while smug Joe blocks the road because he has become the road speed monitor, the doctor going to an emergency, the person going to hospital because the partner or child is dying, the police car which for some reason doesn't have blue lights must sit behind you because you are the speeding monitor all of a sudden.

Get some common sense and STAY OUT of the overtaking lanes if you aren't overtaking.

Look up the formulas for kinetic energy and momentum and see what part speed plays in them.

That's overly dramatic.

Anyone of those people would have sirens or begin flashing, hooting and gesturing in which case you would realise they needed to pass and move out the way :nono:
 
Great news! Shame they didn't increase the speed limit to 100mph .
