Motorcyclist jailed for doing 110 in a 30 zone....

Phucwitt.

Bikers, the majority of them I see on the road are no different. In fact when I see one riding and respecting others and the rules of the road I am amazed.

The very sad fact is IF you or I as a car driver arrive at a junction and look right, left. and right again as we turn left and we gauged the biker wrong and he or she is doing silly speed and hits us its OUR FAULT! crazy crazy laws.

I would have banned him for 5 years and taken his licence and made him take a retest and limit him to a moped for 5 years after retest.

When I seen this, I thought it's only a daft young loon......... He's 60
I'm guessing he's not too bright

WOW! Can't believe the sweeping statement and I hate motorbikes. I'll stand back and wait for the true bikers to respond!

What a complete and utter moron - he should have been banned for life, although I don't think prison is the best way of punishing him.

As an aside, did the police have the power to confiscate his memory card? My understanding - and I may well be wrong - is that they can only seize equipment and memory cards if they believe the images/footage are intended for use in terrorist activities.

Ban him for life. Any motor cycle in his hands is a lethal weapon. He could easily have killed someone.

I'm sure after a couple of months doing porridge he won't be so dumb again. Well I hope not

Crazy speeds in those situations....& that `overtake` between the 2 cars!!!!! :jawdrop:

.

Was it you that I smashed into & flew over the bonnet when I was doing well under the limit on a clear road, did you really look twice directly at me then pull out then stop, blocking the road ?

Think again. It's evidence, whether it's paedophiles, bank robbers or speeding motorists, why would it need to only be terrorism?

Very wrong.

As to the case in question, the word "t***" was clearly invented with this chap in mind.

If you ride a fast bike that's about par for the course. The bit going between the two cars was silly though. He should never have let the old bill get the card and I hope he is going to sue for copyright infingement by sky for posting his video.LOL.

If it's evidence released by the court or the police, he can't.

Nope wrong again NO HATE here at all, I am big fan of bikes and the bikers I know are without doubt enjoy the odd session of spirited riding, as do I. As part of the scene I am involved with its a general feeling of let down by the general stupidity many bikers display.

That said I stand by what I said! I have been less rude and have not included ALL bikers in my post but you seem to want to twist my words, wonder why?

When driving my cars I keep right on outside lane of Mway just incase a biker is filtering, I am for ever looking for them when in left or centre lanes too and the roads I travel often, I know what short cuts they tend to take and thus set myself up for a biker always being on the centre line on some blind corners, I drive one of my cars like a biker would ride, and am more than aware of their vulnerability and so give them a wide berth. I doubt my style of driving a car would be a hindrance to most bikers.

Was it you that I smashed into & flew over the bonnet when I was doing well under the limit on a clear road, did you really look twice directly at me then pull out then stop, blocking the road ?

Sorry to hear you crashed, did you have your headlight on? My mates all ride with dipped beam they say it makes them more visible. One of them while in his car almost wiped out a biker in broad daylight at a junction with sun behind him,(the biker) said if the biker would have had his headlight on he would have seen him more clearly.....I dont know the details of your accident - but no it wasn't me you hit so its irrelevant. But not insignificant for you.

Your post doesn't change my experience of some bikers though.

As an ex biker, I think he was an absolute t**t, and am pleased to see him locked away.
I used to ride quickly on a bike, but never in the 30 limits, because that was when you would be interacting with pedestrians.
There is no excuse for what he was doing, if you want to go that fast, then book a track day at a racing circuit, or take your chance on an early morning fast ride on a quiet motorway, and hope that there are no cameras.

As a current biker, I've bitten my tongue trying not to rise to the f***witted generalisations up the page.

As a current biker, I agree with him being locked up and banned, although I would make it for life and sure as hell wouldn't let him ride a scooter!

The sooner the tw@s who ride like this are removed from the roads, the better IMO.

Riding at 110mph in a 30mph area is not "par for the course", unless severe retardation was a prerequisite for him getting his license.

Well at least you've changed your generalisation from "most" to "some" now.

Where do people get these ideas from?

Daily Mail, some guy down the pub??

As a biker myself (current Kawasaki Versys 650) I am also a bit amazed at the comments here, but I am not sure why I am to be honest it just mirrors the way every thread goes :-)

He is a moron, deserves a trip to prison and a long ban, there are quite a few morons out there on bikes and a fair amount of well adjusted bikers as well.

LOL at the fast bikes comments. Simple fact is that most of the time you can't use anything like the performance due to the state of the roads, the number of speed cameras or the unfailing ability of car drivers to not care one jot about riders (did you like that generaisation Lastolite?).

Thing with a bike is the acceleration, saize. allows us to get away quickly and filter. It's not a prerequisite to ride like a pillock, which os what this idiot did. The police have probably saved his life.

O well, sorry my observations make you unhappy, cant change facts though as I see it, sorry about that.

MANY? Really? Do you just go out around biker haunts on a sunny sunday, as most of the commuters I see ride quite sensibly, especially at this time of the year

So if theres a biker behind, why not move over to the middle lane rather than block the lane and try to encourage them to filter, or is this at a standstill, very slow crawling speeds?

Motorbikes have had headlights on by default for many years now, you cannot turn them off

All to many to some...

I'll agree, theres some idiot bikers on the road, not as many as idiot car drivers though.

So usual commute this morning, white van just changes lane on a motorway roundabout without looking. Same roundabout a golf decides they don't want to wait in there queue and just pull left into another lane without looking. HGow about the muppet in the Q5 that decided it was a good idea to undertake down the sliproad at pace, wheres theres nowhere to go and caused chaso as everyone tried to join the motorway.
Or the whole motorway travels at 70-75mph on a monday morning and friday afternoon, but everyone is in the outside lane only, so one just cruises at the same speed obeying lane discipline. Doesn't stop the idiots trying to undertake at 90-100mph through all lanes and hard shoulder...

Human nature, there's idiots everywhere, just statistically higher in cars.

I think you are correct to be fair MOST car drivers do not look or should that be SEE at junctions I have seen several bikers have an off due ONLY to the driver of a car! I am not upset at the generalisation! PLUS the stats dont lie!

I treat bikers with respect and give them room, consider them when overtaking, I have had countless waves from bikers as I pull right or left to allow filtering...I look in my mirrors.

It does not change the fact that many of the ones I encounter ride without care, simple as! sorry again if it offends you biker sensibilities.

Well I do I cant type about every scenario!!!!!!!!

I get out the way of ALL bikers! I respect them and their vulnerability as a road user. I have no issue or problem with Bikers AT ALL as a group.

Its a mad mad world

Stay safe!

what an idiot.......thats the very reason why i took my camera off my helmet and put it on the bike so that you CANT see my speedo

I stopped being a biker when a car turned right and I went head on into her engine bay even though it was impossible not to see me with hi viz vest, headlight on and a bright coloured helmet
She even had a 100 year old lady passenger in the back seat, thank [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] the shock never killed her on the spot. When I woke up, the guy next to me in resuscitation had witnessed the crash and fainted requiring another ambulance haha
I wrote the car off as well as my fazer then decided it was maybe time to call it quits. My opinion is for every idiot biker, there are far more car/van/bus/Larry drivers who just don't look for bikes
Probably self preservation but I think bikers are generally far more aware of other road users, saying that, this guy in OP is obviously not too clever

I will watch when back on WiFi.

As an ex biker who back the day was tested to IAM and the RoSPA Gold standard I saw a few prize plonkers........I did "observer" runs at a local IAM group and one day a guy in full leathers turned on a GS1000. Now this was pre inter bike walkie talkies, so briefing over we set off with me following on my GS450. He wound it and took off like a scalded cat. Long story short he clearly had no understanding of the aims et al of the IAM and did not return.

On another note ~ equally many yonks ago I sold machined synthetic foams and one of my customers was Hangers the artificial limb people. What I supplied were called 'cosmesise', a foam outer layer to go over the artificial limb. We sold something like 80% right leg compared to left leg........why I asked my customer. Because on UK roads the leg most injured by bad overtaking manoeuvres was the right especially on lefthand bends and hump backed bridges, that insight was quite sobering.

Be careful out there folks.

No matter if it's car, van, bike, lorry you can find bloody idiots driving them. Guy deserves what he's got. I have no issue with riding fast. Virtually no one buys a superbike to ride at 70 mph. Riding like that in 30,40, 50 zones is just crazy.

The problem for a lot of car drivers who don't ride is that when they see a bike doing a quick overtake with a car coming the other they don't realise that it's more often than not perfectly safe but because they couldn't do it in their car they assume that the biker is riding unsafely. They have no concept of the performance of even average bikes compared to the cars they drive.

I thought it was going to be some young lad as well when I first saw the link.

Ditto to that, I too am a current motorcyclist and deplore a lot of the riding I see, especially in a 30 zone, mind you most car drivers are rubbish too!
Matt

There are motorcyclists doing that sort of thing every weekend all round the country. His mistake was letting ploddy get the memeory card he should have ate it.LOL. I see somewhere that he acctually did 153 mph. Not that fast when you think most superbike get to 150mph in 440 yards from a standing start.

Can't remember the last time I saw a bike at serious speed on the public highway.
