Do speed camera vans have a speed detector camera pointing out the front window?

Asking for a friend.

Sometimes.

According to a friend!

USUALLY, if you can see a camera peeking through the hatch in the back door, that's the only one but apparently some have forward facing ones too.

Clothing recommendation for you.

A few weeks ago I bought an RST Pro Series Ambush jacket.
It’s proved to be absolutely brilliant for a tour like I’m doing.
Things I love include.
Sleeve pockets. Ideal for toll tickets and payment card.
Built in hydration bladder pocket with routing for drinking tube. No more having to wear a hydration back pack.
Net pockets either side to put a glove in. Love that!
Loads of vents. Yesterday I encountered heavy rain and warm temperatures. Even with the vents open I stayed dry.
Loads of pockets.

It really is an excellent piece of kit.

I had exactly the same thought on Thursday when I accelerated up to 75mph on a section of dual carriageway that turned out to be a 60mph limit. Guess I'll find out soon enough :p

Best thing is I'm still running the bike in so I was just hitting the 'max rpm' line and not paying much attention to the police van until I thought to check my speed.

With fuel injection (modern, electronic type!), it'll sort out fuelling itself. Might be a slight drop in power but none of the spluttering and wheezing that could happen with carbs.

A 30 mile round trip yesterday took me around 90 miles! The mate I went to see was out when I first arrived so I went on a detour over Dartmoor (to see my parents' sprinkle spot) and back down to Teignmouth "the pretty way", over the moor to Moretonhampstead then down through Bovey Tracey etc..

Spotted what looked to be an older Harley chop on the way - was it you near Bishopsteignton at about 6pm, @Topsy ? One of the few bikers to return a wave.

Tomorrow, I'm hoping for reasonable weather along to West Bay, where there's a shop with a large selection of lids - I want/need a decent open face one, ideally with a built in clear visor that flips up inside the shell. Mrs Nod is having a day with her Mum (DEEP joy for her!!!) so I'm taking advantage of a day off.

Not me mate, I had lots of errands to run yesterday so I was on my Sportster but not over that way. BTW I always return waves with a dip of the head also known as a Nod. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

in rain i prefer gloves under the jacket or the rain just runs down your coat into the glove , when its dry i prefer them out just because its easier, my main gloves are Held race-tex gortex gloves, ive had them 2 years, not winter weight, not summer either just right with heated grips, very comfy, made out of supple cowhide and kangaroo palms and as long as you tuck them in the jacket sleeve as mentioned totally waterproof, dont think you can get them any more as they have been superseded but i will not hesitate to buy held gortex gloves again ,
After saying how good they are the stitching has gone on one of be fingers so they have gone back to sportsbike shop under warranty, il see what they say but they have been excellent when I have replaced stuff in the past

They are excellent aren’t they. Both of my Spada boots failed in the Alps. They have already been replaced once. Sportsbikeshop would have replaced them again, but I’ve asked for a shop credit instead.

I booked my bike in for its 12,000 mile service today, which is going to be expensive.

Out of interest I asked him how sales were going. He replied they’d be a lot better if they could get more stock from Triumph. He also surprised me by telling me their best selling bikes are the Tiger 850/900 range. I really thought it would have been one of the Bonnevilles.

Problem with the Bonnies is that there are so many variations of the theme that they skew the numbers. I'd guess that the Bonnie outsells the Tiger as a range but with even the Bobber being 3 models (including the Speedmaster), there are too many choices!

Today's 80 mile round trip has upped this week's mileage to more than the last 2 years! A combination of not wanting to risk the possibility of hospital during the worst of covid and a succession of back problems kept me out of the saddle but a back brace (as recommended somewhere up the thread) seems to keep the bony bits in line for far enough and the riding position seems to be a good one for my rotator cuff.

Just bought a new open face lid - HJC i30 with built in visor and sun visor. Well worth the ride up to Helmet City who have a much larger range of lids than any more local places.

That big picture looks a bit chilly round the frillies!

Lots of ways but I rarely do it!

Certainly no favouritism, other than me not getting suspenders for sidestepping the filter. So far!

The jury is still out on that one :p

If any of you are interested, I videoed the ride up each of the high mountain passes I rode in The Alps.
The first one I did was the Col du Grand Saint Bernard (2469m) from Switzerland into Italy. Weather was not nice, which was a real shame as the rain diminished the beauty of the place.
