Could have been worse - had a right lever cable lose its nipple on me just when I needed it most. Skidmarks and adrenaline can both be brown... (Managed to avoid the obstacle and stay upright but it was as close as I ever want to be!)

250 miles yesterday which was about £44 in fuel, getting expensive!

And that's not far from the truth!!! In "normal" use (very little on a Rocket is normal!!!), I was getting about 32 MPG...

What a ball ache of a job, there's a clip that holds the cable to the side of the frame, only trouble is it's under the airbox and even then you can't really see it to open..it dosnt help I've got big sausage fingers...anyway all back together and no nuts bolts or screws over...just as well the new cable should last me a lifetime 20220703_133900.jpg

Got out for a few miles yesterday morning - first chance to use the new lid. For an open face, it's reasonably quiet and both the screens (clear and tinted) work well as well as being optically very good.

Expensive year for me. New brake pads all round today, 12000 mile service in 3 weeks plus new chain and cogs.

Ouch. When I had my street triple the 12k service was about £650 with the valve clearance check. A lot of money for a newish bike never mind a second hand 4k bike☹️

£200 for my GS service on Monday at the main dealer, it's five years old now so I'm not sure about taking it to the dealer next time.

I suppose the value of FSH depends on the bike, is that true?

Mine is 3 years old. There is no way I'll pay for a service.

I have a Haynes manual and some optimism.

I will make a note of everything I do and keep receipts.

That brings back memories.

My mate had a CBX, or GBH as we called it, all stripped down to basics, probably called a bobber these days, and 6 into 1 straight through exhaust.

Sounded like Cerberus with his balls in a vice. Soul shaking.

251 miles door to door today and no back pain :)

Masham for breakfast then for a change passed through

Leyburn
Hawes
Sedbergh
Devils Bridge Kirkby Lonsdale and stopped because I was thirsty. I don't usually do 'biker spots' and had a coffee because the last time I stopped there the tea was like ditchwater, the coffee is no better. If I ever stop there again I get a drink from the river :/
Next was Shap then onto Hawkswater.
I was getting tired so foolishly trusted the GPS to take me home, back to Sedbergh.
Single tracks with lots of gravel, I don't mind gravel roads but not so keen on roads with random gravel!
After Sedbergh I passed Devils Bridge again then onto Ingleton and upto Ribblehead and a quick stop for an ice cream.
Three licks of the ice cream and it all fell off :( Family tales tell of me crying when this happened as a six year old, today I just bought another :)
Onwards to Settle.
I usually go over the moors from Settle to Skipton but road was closed so I had to take the dreaded A64 and the dual carriageways to home.

Called at the local off-licence for a rare bottle of Old Speckled Hen to offset my arse regaining feeling.

What better way to spend a day!

bloody sat navs...out yesterday around north and mid wales and it was sending us down smaller and smaller..and i use this term road loosely...not as loose as all the bloody gravel and grass that was in them , we had been to Aberystwyth and the devils bridge and was trying to get to lake vernwy...i dont mind a bit of small roads, but felt terrible for a mate who was 2 up on a sports bike...never again

I feel for you, Dave.

On a recent ride, I hit no fewer than 3 diversions, all of which had no directions after the initial "Road Closed" and "Diversion" signs. 2 of the detours involved loose grit and grass up the middle of the road and one of them threw in the nice addition of a caravan coming up the hill...

the problem i had was the sat nav kept trying to resend down the same little tracks (im not calling them roads), to be fair to garmin, around there there isnt much option ...you live and learn, had a quick 171 miles ride today around north wales to buy some new sunglasses ;):ROFLMAO:

Could be worse, it could be on your doorstep and you not have your bike!

Yum and yum! I wonder if that Vincent is one of the modern ones?

That's the only real reason I don't ride in Crete when we're there - the heat/leather conundrum (and the rather poor standard of driving over there!!!)

Must admit to being slack recently and wearing kevlar lined jeans with knee and hip armour, I've stuck with a 'propper' jacket though.

I tend to plan the riding around the heat of the day as best I can.
