thanks for that, I had fancied a 681B but just wondered what everyone used and get a hands on review.
I've got the 680B aswell, with a 488 head on it I dare anyone to try to nick my kit!! The only complaint I have is how noisy it can be when you extend the thing. I found that before I bought the head (started with just a quick release plate) I often left it at home because I found it too restrictive, but with the head it's fab.
:shrug:I know what it means - undo release lock - leg falls down with gravity and there is a metallic clang. Didn't bother me!

I have the 682b and find it great those little pull out feet are a great help at times
I use a Manfrotto 679B with a 234RC head on top. The head not only allows easy switching from landscape to portrait orientation but adds at least 2" to the height of the 'pod (in landscape orientation). I'm 6'1" and can stand up straight with this combo so don't aggravate my iffy back.

Went for this,

Is it possible to buy the feet that you get on the 682 seperately and fit them to a 681 or 680?
I've found this http://www.morrisphoto.co.uk/ProductDetails~man~Manfrotto~productID~4564~categoryid~158.html
Is this the same thing?

Planning on buying a Monopod tomorrow and ordering via Jessops, if I select collect in store from the website and it says available from opening time tomorrow does that mean the shop has stock readily available even if I don't pre-order?
I'm going for the red snapper monopod and head. Looks like a great deal!
