Mirrorless Options

Just bought a X-E2 from the Fuji refurbished site, using the discount code it was 275 quid including postage, looks like new to me.

Already got a X-T1, but found myself using a X-E1 most of the time so bought the newer model when I sold my last DSLR (Canon 5D)

Made the move a couple of years ago, haven't regretted it for one minute, my daughter did the same after using my smaller gear, she now has a XT-10

Reckon it has doubled the amount of times I take a camera out with me, mostly the smaller camera, standard zoom, spare battery and Lenspen.
All goes in a small padded case which then goes in my rucksack, If I want to take another lens just drop one in carried in a separate lens case.

Judge the results on their own rather than comparing too much, if you are happy with the new camera and it's photos go for it

I'm happy paying that for the xe2. I've kind of decided on that. Just can't find any! Refurb is out of stock at the moment. Not sure how often they get them in. Is the discount code still paypal12 for when they do?

Yes that code still works, set up the email alert and hopefully now the x-e2 is back on the list they will get some in.

I have a GX7 and with a nice prime mounted the quality you can get out of it is good and you can pick up the bodies and the lenses for reasonable money. I bought my GX7 new but I bought most of my lenses used, they tend to crop up all the time. However, if looking today I'd go for a Sony A6000. It's smaller than an XE2, it's APS-C and arguably gives better image quality than the Fuji's and there are bargains about at the moment as the A6300 is out.

I think it might help you decide what you want if you download some raws to process on your own pc or ask owners here to send you some. After looking at the image quality you can get from these cameras you may decide there's nothing in it and if that's the case you might end up just going for the best bargain :D

I've looked into the a6000 and on paper they look a cracking little camera. Is the Sony range a little light in the wide range. I'm looking for 35mm ff equivalent so about 20-24mm. Fuji and m43 have several options (albeit I don't know how good). Sony seems limited unless you pay big money? That fair to say?

20mm 2.8 or the Zeiss 24.

Or would I actually notice any difference in IQ if I went em10 / gx7 ? Considering both seem much better value.

I've never used a fuji but I doubt it, unless you do a lot of post processing. Received wisdom is that Oly's default processing is sharper but marginally noisier. Any differences in quality will mainly be down to your choice - and use - of lens.

20mm 2.8 or the Zeiss 24.

The 24mm is nice but not cheap. 20mm seems hit and miss in review, some suggest using the 19mm sigma and then suggest the sigma isn't great optically either. The size of the 20mm would definetly be useful.

There are a few options without looking too hard including...

Sony 20mm f2.8 pancake.
Sony 24mm f1.8.
Sony FE (FF) 28mm f2.
Sigma 19mm f2.8, and it's only £119.
There are a couple od Samyang's, 21 and 24mm manual focus.
An expensive Zeiss 25mm f2 FF lens.
An expensive Zeiss 21mm f2.8 Loxia manual lens.

The 24mm f1.8 may be the obvious choice but it's a bit on he big lump side for me (but I do have to say that plenty of people seem to like this lens and by reports it seems to be very good) so of those I think I'd go for the 20mm f2.8 pancake at a reasonable £230 or possibly the 28mm f2, it's a bit longer than 35 (on FF) but it's a FF lens and I have an A7 so I could use it on that as well :D

The cheapo Sigma lenses seem to be popular. There are three of them, 19, 30 and 60mm and they all seem to cost the same. £119. They seem to get good reviews.

If you're ok with MF there's also the option of mounting a cheap film era 24/28mm via a £10 adapter... the drawbacks being they're MF and the adapter adds to the bulk. Maybe best to get the 20mm f2.8 pancake lens :D or the 24mm f1.8 :D or the Sigma 19mm f2.8 at £119 :D

The X-E2 on the newest firmware is a dream :D

I have an adaptor for my old OM lenses too... the MF is sweet!

Well after much to'ing and fro'ing ive took the plunge and bought an XE2 off ebay.

Thankyou to everyone for the recommendations and advise (on all systems)

Next issue, i need a lens !

I was looking for roughly a 35mm (FF equivalent), mainly for travel and family photos. The 23mm looks great, however as it relies on me selling my canon lenses i would rather get something that showed the capabilities of the xe2 first rather than wading in on £600 glass.

So if anyone was thinking of listing any fuji kit in the classifieds then i will keep an eye out :)

thanks again

Thanks for the recommendation, i do like the look of the 27mm, off to the "wanted" section i think!

I own a Olympus EPL5. M43. though it is very light and easy to carry. But sensor is too small. The quality is not very well.

FUJI jpg is very good.

Sony a6000 or Sony a6300 might be a good choise.
