Mini Traveller.

I've been told I should be getting 18-22k out of the tyres. I only managed 10,500. Can't imagine why

I don't want a classic mini! Go eat your Werthers Originals!

So you'd rather drive an incredibly poor imitation of a car that you don't like? :D

Fine by me, I'll stick to my REAL Mini: :D

Unfortunately, Rover had a hand in designing the 'Bini'... But then it was incredibly desperate at the time...

It's not so much the car that I hate, but BMW and their bully-boy tac-tics of shutting down tiny companies, because they're using the word 'Mini' in their title - Even though they've been making products before BMW got on the scene!

I never said I didn't like it. In fact I still want to get one. It was more said in jest.

I've more pictures of classics in my flickr photostream than BMW ones. I've already complimented you on your mini in one of your threads here :P

All black, slammed with black rims and white lip and it would be an tricked little number.

It's just not a pretty car.:nono: Even the regular 2nd gen Mini just looks "wrong" when you see it next to another car. I saw one sitting next to a Passat today and it actually looked bigger. Shouldn't it have been renamed Maxi?

I had a Mini once. 1395cc twin webber carb straight cut gear box no silencer. Dont know what top speed was - never got out of second gear!!:D

Sorry about quality of photo. Re-photoed an old photo.

The brakes are fantastic when warmed up. I used to do a lot of mini rallies around the Scottish highlands and they came in very useful a number of times. They also lowered my insurance costs lol.

Most of this is rubbish and also depends on how you drive your car ;) . My run flats still had tread on them after 15,000 miles. Also what insurance company are you with that won't let you change tires? The cost also depends on the size and, if run flats are not your thing then spec the car without them. Insurance regulations? What? Sounds like you got mugged. You can spec the car without traction control when you buy it and if you do get it fitted you can turn it off. :D It's much more fun without traction control which is why I specced my one without it.

DON'T MINCE YOUR WORDS DO YOU!!!!!!:nono: I bought the car as an ex demo, so wasn't able to SPEC any of your suggestions, and FYI i don't exactly drive like a granny, but i'm no Colin McCrash either. The '07 Mini onwards ONLY comes with runflats, this is due to no spare wheel, and there is no option to remove them as far as my friend who works for BMW/Mini knows, and he should, it's his job to know. And i contacted my insurance company regarding removing them, and as it is classed as a modification, it invalidates your insurance, unless they approve it first, which mine, Norwich Union, wouldn't. Traction control IS STANDARD on Cooper S's, but you can switch it off, but not completely, ESP is not switchable. The cost of the tyre's was for standard 17", 205, 45. I'll stick with my Civic Type R thanks, quicker, bigger, faster, better looking, what more can i say.
I'm not being funny here, but you are very aggressive in your reply's, opinionated is a luxury, not a right:nono::nono:

LOL. What do you want me to do, include every emoticon in my reply? If you find that offensive then you and I are going to have big problems on this forum. Alternatively you could go to your user panel and add me to your ignore list.

The funny thing is my 03 Mini had runflats on it on the 16inch wheels that were on the car. Also those run flats have since been removed and replaced with regular tires. If you can't get that right then I'm not sure the rest of your information is valid at all. Are you telling me your insurance company considers new tires as a modification? For someone that likes to think they have a valid opinion on cars your choice in insurance company sucks.

Also, you are quite funny. Relax and take a deep breath. You're right, the Civic Type R is all those things that you say... so what? I chose not to buy one and am delighted with the car I have now. The funniest thing of all is how many people on the web slag off the new Mini and how little Mini owners actually care. If I cared I'd have bought a classic. I love classics, I love Honda cars, I love pretty much every Japanese car going. In fact I love all cars because I'm a bit of a petrol head. However, Rover = FAIL.

Wow, my second conflict in a week. Are all TP members this sensitive?

The funniest thing about all this though, is the fact that you have a BMW Mini in your avatar. Funnier than the fact that you based your entire argument on a car that you couldn't even spec. I could keep going on.

Maybe in Devon things are different, I heard they are a bit backward down there, but in the rest of the UK every one has the right to an opinion thanks to the thousands of men and woman who died to ensure we continue to enjoy that freedom. Do you think I'm going to let you tell me I can't enjoy that right?

Don't take it seriously, it's not good for you.

I like it to be honest. Be great if they did it as a pick-up as well, my mate had one of the old mini pick-ups, cracking wee car :)

I know a couple of people with classics, one of which has a Honda VTEC in it and another with a Calibra Turbo engine. They are great cars, no doubt about it. But why people feel the need to keep comparing them to the new BMW ones is beyond me. Don't you think BMW owners know that they are not real minis? That's like me coming up to you and saying "Oh btw, the world isn't flat".

You have to laugh.

Anyway this is a futile argument. I'm outta here.

One.

Isn't it the BMW owners who are comparing their cars to the classic...? It has stolen the name of the best car, afterall...!

I follow the Z-Cars minis around on their race events, photographing for them... There's a couple of Honda-Powered ones and a few with Hayabusa's! Now they're awesome cars!

The new fibreglass, hayabusa powered MiniSprint is the absolute be all and end all for me! Not bad for £20k! Leaves Caterhams and RX7's standing! :D

The fibreglass ones are amazing. There are a few mini garages down south that have some of the original casts for the body panels and are selling full fibre glass body shells. I was well tempted to get one as a project.

I know the guys making the fibreglass ones! :D

Not a bad price, either...!

I'm not gonna say no..!!!

Those are the ones! Amazing looking beasts. Would love one of those in matt black. Wonder how much a road ready one will cost.

5 grand for a photoshop ? LAWL.

The real ones are the Red Bull ones. Have you seen those?

Probably a silly question and certainly not wishing to enter into arguement, but if cooper S comes with run flats as standard - that means no spare tyre. So removing them and changing for standard tyres, means you are breaking the law surely? Or am I being thick?

:cuckoo:

Oh - and for the record I love both new and classic mini's - prefer the slightly smaller and better shaped (pre '07) model though.

I'm not entirely sure about that. My insurance company had no problems when I put on my 19s. Mind you, I do have 5 of them.

There is no law that says that you have a spare tyre. The car will pass an MOT without a spare too. My last car, MG TF had no spare as i did not want one weighing down the front end (engine in the back). All i had was a can of goo to fill a puncture. Also had a Punto that had aftermarket alloys with no spare.

I think it's one of those - If it's there, it has to be roadworthy, but if it's missing then it's not testable?

Correct, having said that, I can't remember the last time the spare was checked when I took a car for it's MOT....

True...but they don't seem to be photoshop users

They are obvious photoshops, because if you look at the blue one, look through the side window and you'll see metal shutters in the background, not a nasty blue wall. lol. Worst photoshop job ever.

Umm....I think you'll find that they've just done a very bad job of cutting the picture out - that doesn't look like a "nasty blue wall, but rather a " badly cut out picture pasted onto a nasty blue background to match the colour of one of their webpages" but that doesn't mean that the cars themselves aren't real :lol:

Mind you having seen some of the other stuff they do, the pick ups do seem rather restrained :bonk:

Yeah I saw those a few years back. Worst body kits ever. Sometimes I think they are taking the **** lol. But honestly, that blue one surely is not real. Why is there no shadow at the back of the car but there is everywhere else? It's a blatant photoshop attempt.
