I've been told I should be getting 18-22k out of the tyres. I only managed 10,500. Can't imagine why

*cough* Golf GTI *cough*
As for Fords, i would only have two, an RS Focus or Mark 2 Mexico![]()
I don't want a classic mini! Go eat your Werthers Originals!

well thats just peachy, i dont

The brakes are fantastic when warmed up. I used to do a lot of mini rallies around the Scottish highlands and they came in very useful a number of times. They also lowered my insurance costs lol.
Most of this is rubbish and also depends on how you drive your car. My run flats still had tread on them after 15,000 miles. Also what insurance company are you with that won't let you change tires? The cost also depends on the size and, if run flats are not your thing then spec the car without them. Insurance regulations? What? Sounds like you got mugged. You can spec the car without traction control when you buy it and if you do get it fitted you can turn it off.
It's much more fun without traction control which is why I specced my one without it.

or it would look like a roller skate....

DON'T MINCE YOUR WORDS DO YOU!!!!!!:nono: I bought the car as an ex demo, so wasn't able to SPEC any of your suggestions, and FYI i don't exactly drive like a granny, but i'm no Colin McCrash either. The '07 Mini onwards ONLY comes with runflats, this is due to no spare wheel, and there is no option to remove them as far as my friend who works for BMW/Mini knows, and he should, it's his job to know. And i contacted my insurance company regarding removing them, and as it is classed as a modification, it invalidates your insurance, unless they approve it first, which mine, Norwich Union, wouldn't. Traction control IS STANDARD on Cooper S's, but you can switch it off, but not completely, ESP is not switchable. The cost of the tyre's was for standard 17", 205, 45. I'll stick with my Civic Type R thanks, quicker, bigger, faster, better looking, what more can i say.
I'm not being funny here, but you are very aggressive in your reply's, opinionated is a luxury, not a right:nono::nono:
opinionated is a luxury
Ignored mate, far too opiniated for my liking.
I know a couple of people with classics, one of which has a Honda VTEC in it and another with a Calibra Turbo engine. They are great cars, no doubt about it. But why people feel the need to keep comparing them to the new BMW ones is beyond me. Don't you think BMW owners know that they are not real minis? That's like me coming up to you and saying "Oh btw, the world isn't flat".
You have to laugh.
Anyway this is a futile argument. I'm outta here.
One.
Isn't it the BMW owners who are comparing their cars to the classic...? It has stolen the name of the best car, afterall...!
I follow the Z-Cars minis around on their race events, photographing for them... There's a couple of Honda-Powered ones and a few with Hayabusa's! Now they're awesome cars!
The new fibreglass, hayabusa powered MiniSprint is the absolute be all and end all for me! Not bad for £20k! Leaves Caterhams and RX7's standing!![]()
I like it to be honest. Be great if they did it as a pick-up as well, my mate had one of the old mini pick-ups, cracking wee car![]()
5 grand for a photoshop ? LAWL.
The real ones are the Red Bull ones. Have you seen those?

Probably a silly question and certainly not wishing to enter into arguement, but if cooper S comes with run flats as standard - that means no spare tyre. So removing them and changing for standard tyres, means you are breaking the law surely? Or am I being thick?
Oh - and for the record I love both new and classic mini's - prefer the slightly smaller and better shaped (pre '07) model though.
They make some of the worst bits of kit I've ever seen![]()

I think it's one of those - If it's there, it has to be roadworthy, but if it's missing then it's not testable?
True...but they don't seem to be photoshop users![]()
They are obvious photoshops, because if you look at the blue one, look through the side window and you'll see metal shutters in the background, not a nasty blue wall. lol. Worst photoshop job ever.
