Hello

I've lost a lot of our home video due to a PC loss, and want to transfer them to a Mac now... It's a Sony DV camcorder, but I don't seem to be able to transfer/capture on the Mac. I've purchased a new DV to USB firewire cable... but anyone any suggestions as to my next steps?
 
Never had any joy with the usb type capture devices, had to use a FireWire cable and connectors to copy all my ones to the PC.

If your PC has a space pci port I would look for used FireWire card and cable on eBay.
 
Or as a last resort pay a company to transfer them to a hard drive.
 
I did not! Many things got in the way (notably my health, which now says use your time to get these memories saved).

On Mini-DV alone, I have over 40 tapes, so paying someone to transfer them totalled over £350, and that was the cheapest I could find.

The Sony camcorder I have just won't connect with PC or Mac, and I've bought new cables. The firewire I have has a USB end.
