Mark,
From your Bio - Occupation: Engineer
Which engineering discipline and would you be willing to relocate or work a 10/4 days rota?

......then the boss comes round and says we can't afford them, 2 weeks later he comes to work in a new Aston Martin DB9
Sounds familiar. Where I used to work, there was never any money for shopfloor equipment or repairs to the roof, which had been leaking for years and resulted in huge puddles whenever there was a downpour. The admin offices on the other hand had all the windows replaced, brand new furniture, computers replaced, and a plasma screen installed in the reception area, as well as management company cars of course.
eye candy for the customers , seen it before
I think you're right there Paul, and I imagine many other manufacturing firms do the same. It was quite a contrast really looking back on it. You walked into the offices and everything had a very futuristic look about it - walked onto the shopfloor and you were stepping back to the Victorian era.
