Marks 52 - Week 26 Night

Excellent, good conversion, Bethan's expression is priceless and so sums up what I'd have thought if it was bread and water again....

the stable diet of those in need carbs and water. I think the shot really protrays the image of her eating it because she has noting better to eat

Thanks Toothie, she certainly has an expressive face, it's never difficult to read her mood;) In this case grumpy because Dad was messing around and she wanted to eat the bread:naughty:

Good composition, good expression, catchlights in the eyes, even a wee reflection in the glass.

There's a lot to like about that image, if I had to find a crit, I would like to have seen a plainer background, other than that, very good image that fits the theme very well.

Nice one.

Thanks Hyster, I agree about the b/g, time was against me and this was the best shot I could get. If inspiration had struck earlier in the week the b/g would have been different.

I agree, she didn't drink the water but the bread went.

Lovely shot and great last minute idea. Bethany expression is great but she is just too clean, couldn't you have rubbed some dirt on her face or something ;)

Yeah could have, again time was against me so I was left with PP to make her look a bit grubby. Thanks for the comments:thumbs:

Nice shot. Bethany is a lovely little actress and her expression is fab!! I'm not sure a diva of her standing would have allowed her face to be grubbied up though!! (a girl has an image to uphold after all :lol:)

The idea is great, and the black and white treatment again adds to the old style that we all asociate with poverty. well done

Thanks Angela...you're right she wouldn't have liked it, but sometimes people have to suffer for my art!:naughty:

Mark

ps.... folks Bethan would like to remind everyone it's Bethan not Bethany... She gets precious about these things (where's a handbag emocation when you need one this'll have to do:rules:)

Will do Simon... she's ok really, she gets used to it!

@kennysarmy.... that's not a bad idea, it doesn't really need the space above her head.

Thanks

Mark

I too would like to apologize for using Bethany and not Bethan!! :notworthy: I understand as I have a son called Ethan that is always being called Nathan!!!

Beautiful name by the way!!

Thank you Angela. I will pass on the necessary apologies!

Excellent shot for a last minute try...

The B&W works well, but I feel your way to generous with all that water...

Great expression from Bethan...

Thanks mate, you're right about the water, it isn't that cheap these days:bonk:

Mark:thumbs:

Thanks Adam,

She's not a great one for eating, definately eats to live rather than lives to eat.

But rest assured she does get fed properly!

Mark

Hi Mark, my turn for catch up :D

Love the Relationship shot, it's so full of different textures and the relaxed face of Shumba portrays trust too.:clap:

Poverty, you've captured a great expression on Bethan's face with lovely catchlights in her eyes. A slightly shallower depth of field maybe to throw out the background perhaps and a more square crop would turn this into a great photo IMHO. Well done and it certainly doesn't look like a last minute effort.:clap:

Really like your poverty shot - and what a fab little model you have there!

Bethans expression is spot on and the eye contact is excellent. Well done

Another week where inspiration didn't come easily. Took the dog for a walk in the local country park and saw the arrow pointing up the path... ahh that'll do it.

Not too happy with this shot, I think the sign blocks off the path to much, but at least I got one to fit the theme;)

Mark:thumbs:

I love this shot, Mark. :) It's a simple idea, but you and Bethan make a great team and have pulled it off.

I hope her Easter egg is huge. :)

Jean

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated..... easter eggs you say... mmm:thumbs:

:agree: with Simon. This shot works really well.

Fabulous use of DoF, if I was being particularly picky I would have liked the lone walker slightly further to the left. However, it is a fab image and one I could see in a magazine

:agree: with Simon. This shot works really well.

works for me  great detail on the sign too :)

Thank you everyone.

Simon, I know what you mean about the walker (Louise, my wife:)), I could have got her to do it again, but she was off after the kids and the dog;)

Mark

Good shot Mark, like Simon says a little more to the left would have made it perfect, very good pic though, like it.

Good shot Mark, that works for me, good use of DOF

Thank you for the comments folks, next time I'll try and get the walker further left.

@Jean, yes I did catch up thanks:thumbs:

That's a great idea...

and the DOF works great with this shot...

I think you pulled this weeks subject off very well...

I agree with everything they said! Nice one, Mark.

Hurrah a shot posted before Sunday:lol:

Letters - another interesting challenge. I started thinking of post boxes and letters that we send, but these days I very rarely write letters, it's all e-mails and social networking. But what do letters tell us? They give us good news, they give us bad news, they tell us information, without an alphabet how would we communicate with others... so letters, they tell me things.

The stars are there for a bit of added interest, I was limited by a lack of letters, kids eh!;)

Mark:thumbs:

Very colourful Mark, and a good interpretation of the theme. I'm not quite sure about the background, you've got some texture on the left, but it fades to black with no detail on the right and it makes the stars and letters to the right appear to be floating in space. I like that look on the right hand side. Could just be my monitor of course, it's rather bright.

You're right John the light was to the side and so there was some fade across the image.

Thanks for the comments:thumbs:

next...:)

Relationships: Great shot - love the comp and especially the colours :)

Poverty: Well thats a great set up - once again B&W means poorer than colour - great bit of posing by Bethan and meets the theme creatively :)

Up: Yes very nice :) good use of DOF and the addition of the walker makes the photo! Nice splash of colour too!

Letters: Good and colourful and I've been trying to spell something from those letters you've shot but I'm struggling :D Agree with john about the bg to the left but its not a huge issue :)

Good set of shots - hard to pick a fave from these but Up just does it for me :)

Thanks John
You've got you're work cut out catching up on all these threads, I find it hard and I've not been away!

Really like your last shot[and last week's too!] great stuff.
I like the colours and the way the image has been arranged, yet still looks like it's not been arranged at the same time

Very nice mark, similar to Ruth's yet with the black background very different. I like the texture of the shapes, letters as well as the colours and it makes for a very vibrant and interesting shot.

well done

Great lighting - it really shows the texture of the stars really well. I think the DoF could have been just a little bit wider as the ones at the back and front are starting to get just a little bit soft. The letters and stars really stand out against the black background

nice and colourful Mark, really stands out against the back background :)

Thank you, I was hoping to get the letters and stars to stand off the b/g, not sure it worked as well as I had hoped.

Thanks Shorty, very kind.

Yep agree, looking again the dof is just a touch to shallow.

Nice one Mark, this works well.

Thank you
