markelliot's 52. W44 Pair. Re Edited! W45 Safety Added... W38 Fun Added!

Hi Mark,
missed your "hard" theme last week, like the idea but not sure about the amount of motion blur, but what do i know !!!.
Really like the "clutter theme, i think the crop and angle really work. The picture has kept me busy looking at the different items. Looks like an office that i work in from time to time.

Just caught your 52 thread and my word that shot with the orange bottle is just.....well....genius.

Really amazing shot, well done there sir!!!

Hi. Im not sure about a lot of things really with my week 5 pic. The hat needs more dof... And the shutter speed was to slow. The problem is the solution to both individual issues is the oposite of the other issue.... Im not sure why you said what do i know though... You have anopinion which is perfectly valid! And appreciated! Glad its not just me that works in a cluttered office!

Love your clutter ;) I agree with all said that is a good composition  Must select my clutter...so much to choose from...
Thanks tina... Good luck with your shot

Great clutter shot. I like the angle, it adds to the impression of clutter, also like the colours and composition.

^ Thanks!

Really struggling with this weeks shot... I want to get something that original and inspired and all the ideas i've had so far are just well a bit obvious... also want to try and do something out the house but not really got a plan for that either... Im thinking the botanic gardens... but I lack a macro lens so that's being a bit of a hinderance in terms of delicate things too!

Argh... starting to struggle a bit now!

Hi Mark, really like the idea of your "Hard" pic - very creative. Brick could be a bit more prominent and less blurred, but it certainly says "hard" to me.

The clutter pic is fun too. Good take on the "clutter" theme. The angle of the pic brings it alive - almost looks as though everything is about to fall on the floor!

Cheers, patrick

+1 for that.

I'm going to York tomorrow with my daughter so hopefully I'll get a decent photograph.

Cheers and if in doubt post an obvious one and redeem yourself next week....:D

Well I REALLY struggled with delicate...It's been a busy idea and I never had any real inspirational ideas! This photo has taken me most of the afternoon...i'm a day late and feel a week behind... and its another in the house shot... I really need to get out!
I started off with one idea and it did not work... so I completely changed the idea... messed around a bit and finally ended up with this! It's a collection of some of my wife's most delicate possessions. I used the feathers, the mirrors and the scaffold board as I thought they added good contrast and tied the objects together well. As I say i'm a big believer in really taking on the theme and i'm not sure this weeks photo really shouts delicate without the explanation... so I think it fails a little there... Also I really should have ironed the pillowcase I used as a background!

As always crit gratefully received!!!! And I promise i'll try and comment on others images too this week!

Hi Mark,

First up this is the first time I've seen your thread and OPEN was one of the best I've seen; fantastic stuff. I'm sure the people on your site must be enjoying seeing what you can do with the materials laying around each week.

I gotta be honest with you, I don't get the theme of 'delicate' from your photo this week. That's not a statement with the intent of being high and mighty, I don't believe my own image expresses the theme either, but more of a motivation to search harder for an image which does express the theme in the future.

Hey mate!

I know exactly what you mean!!! Im finding the photos a little difficult if i'm honest... If I had a day to devote to doing it I'd achieve much better images. The problem is the time to go out and get the image... I often have good ideas but it would involve doing or going somewhere quite far or putting myself into a situation im not overly comfortable in... This weeks chaos is a prime example. I know for a fact on Saturday night there will be drunken chaos going on... but Im not sure im brave enough to go down at 1am and try and capture it... I know if I did I'd get a great shot... but it's hard! Also i've often maybe already taken the perfect photo for a theme but it was last year etc... I def need to get out more!!!!

Same. I've got a pic from two weeks ago that I may well just use, there's no shame in it - it's your pic and your platform to show it off to others, get some exposure and recognition... why not.

Bravery, yeah I know without a zoom lens you need some balls but surely the best people to try it on will be drunk people. They can't throw a punch as well as a sober person :)

Hi, Mark, I thought that was your chaos shot...;)

It doesn't say delicate to me, I'm afraid.

Obviously a lot of thought went into it.

One idea would have been to use the delicate feathers in some way??

Cheers.

I guess not... Although I wanted the 52 to encourage me into places with my camera I've not been before. In reality I doubt I'll go looking for a fight to photograph this weekend... God knows what I'll do... Chaos would not be so hard if we had not just done clutter as in a way they are similar... To me also it needs a lot more thought as I've completely failed on this weeks theme... I will probably reshoot if I have time... I actually like the photograph and it is a collection of delicate items so I might not... Oh I don't know... I'm def finding the themes hard to nail each week!

I may reshoot.... When I have time... God knows what though... Really still need inspiration...

^ Thanks mate... maybe I wont reshoot then... If someone gets it! It made sense to me at the time... but after posting I could see others point!

Thanks for your continued interest on my 52!

Mark

I like your idea for 'Delicate' Mark - they're all delicate objects in their own ways. The dictionary definition for 'delicate' that I worked after was 'pleasing to the senses' and all the things in the photo surely are that.
I'm along your lines though; not sure your image shouts 'delicate' but I like it nonetheless! :) Did you try shooting the feathers on their own, or the vase?

I never to be honest... I set up a few things but as soon as i looked through t viewfinder i decided they where not worth shooting!

Ill maybe revisit this weeks theme for a reshoot later in the year. Chaos is really got me a little beat so far. Ive had one thought but its another in the house one and im really trying to get awat from that... But strugling for time mainly.

Hi Mark I like your delicate shot, particularly the use of the mirror on the surface - that works really well (I'll have to remember that trick). I see what people are saying about the theme, and it would have worked well in the 'style' theme, but the way I see is that by doing a '52' I'm trying to improve my photography rather than my take on themes. So if it's made you use your camera and think about the technical aspects of photography then it's got to be a good thing.
Good luck finding time and inspiration for the 'chaos' theme - I know some construction sites that would come into their own there!

Topbanana! I know exactly what you mean! Although i enjoy the challenge of the theme... Im not going to use a wildcard as such... But what i will do is the odd reshoot... Or if i just stumble accross a photo which will be better for a previous weeks theme then i will make the swap! Also wont limit myself to photos taken specifically for a theme... Although its all ive done so far this year... But for instance im off to nyc and bound to take a few there that may cover themes for the months ahead! One thing this has got me doing is using my camera more frequently andfor shots ivenever tried before so it is a great thing.

As for chaos on a balfour beatty site... Doesnt happen mate... Always well planned and organised! As he Chokes on tea!!!!

Evening Mark

Been back a few times looking at your Delicate shot & decided it that , for me at least, it does work really well  All the items look delicate , you've captures the colors & focus spot on , the mirror is a great touch & the background color sets the picture off nicely

Good luck with the rest of your 52...it's your challenge & you can do whatever you want with it , using the theme or not , just make sure you're enjoying it:thumbs:

Ooops, another 52 that I've not come across yet -

I especially like your open shot, it has worked really well. I too am of the opinion that he or she who presses the release is not the photographer, it's the one who set the shot and camera up ;)

Your delicate shot is good too. Nice combination of colours, although I would've loved to see more mirror. The manolos TDF

Thanks... but the more I look at it the more I wish i'd ironed that pillowcase... I def think it's a keeper though...

Hi, Mark, just looked again at your themes and just noticed the falling brick in your hard theme...

Nice one!

Cheers.

I def will reshoot this image... I want the brick clearer! Thanks for your comments though!

Hi... thanks for dropping by my 52! The Manolos where not so much to die for me... but more earn a lot of browney points... I knew my wife would have loved them after watching and loving SATC... so I just went for it and got them for her... sometimes its nice just to treat someone for no reason rather than wait for a reason like chrimbo etc... I could not really show more mirror as the mirror or mirrors I used are not that big. We originally bought them for our wedding tabledecorations and have sat in the garage since. I will do something creative with them eventually. Im thinking like a mirror with depth etc not sure... but they where ok for this but that was as wide and as angled as I could go because of the pillowcase background. The duck tape used to attach the pillowcase to the garden room glass doors would have not looked good!

Here is my pic for chaos!!!

It's titled "The World In Chaos!"

5476237949_7469f9c03d_o.jpg

Im quite happy with this image... it was this idea or I was going out and trying to find a riot! I was not confident of finding one then this came into my head. I really hope next weeks theme lends its self to me getting outdoors again with the camera!

Please feel free to leave crit as usual and thanks for your interest in my 52!

I really like that Mark. It is ideal for the theme and nicely composed for me. Reading through your thread I thought it's not just me then struggling for an idea. It seems it is now lol. Like you, some of the ideas I have had have reminded me too much of the clutter theme. Well, work finished for the week so time to knuckle down to it I suppose .

Mark..love it... i struggled til i got a spark of inspiration.. love yours though... simple and to the point..

Mark, well thought out, simple but tells a real story, great capture.

Geat idea i was going to do something like that on a map of world poster went into daughters bedroom to get it out! she had only put it in the bin becuse it had ripped !! would of loved a go on the map thing very current all over the middle east spot on

like the way you put all the headlines from the newspaper brill :thumbs: its in my top 3 since day 1

Thats a really original idea! Well done. I am struggling with this week more than most myself :)

Fabulous idea, and yes, chaos came far too close to clutter for my liking too
